Starting this thread now because the NBA is never going to give us a f***ing time that the game is on Saturday.
Series should be a blood bath. Wolves are the toughest matchup for the Nuggets, have the best depth in the West and have an absolute killer in Ant that the Nuggets have no matchup for.
#1 defense in the league. Arguably the best defender in the league in Gobert. One of the best perimeter defenders in McDaniels. Series is going to be so f***ing tough. I'm picking Nuggets in 7 because I'm a homer. Very interesting to see what happens with Finch. Wolves will be at a pretty big disadvantage if he can't be on the bench.
The starting 5 has to be elite. Like ELITE ELITE.
GO NUGGETS!

Not many things would make me happier. If I wasn't a homer I'd be picking Wolves in 6. They have much better depth. Nuggets have got to find a way to slow down Ant. I trust AG to body up KAT and force him into tough shots. KCP is too small for Ant though. Conley also needs to not shoot like he's Steph Curry.

Showing 5 pm mountain time now. Must have been waiting to see whether NY/Philly was going 7.

Yeah I see 5 PM Saturday and 8 PM Monday for Game 2 but I'm not sure if that's official. 5 PM as the stand alone game Saturday seems very strange. I would expect it to be 6 PM. Doesn't make sense.

So far my picks these last two seasons were Nugs in 5 over Wolves (correct), Nugs in 6 over Suns (correct), Nugs in 5 over Lakers (gave the Lakers too much credit), Nugs in 5 over Heat (correct), and Nugs in 5 over Lakers (correct). To my recollection nobody could stop Ant last year but I think Brucie did the worst job on him by far. I distinctly recall a chorus of us on here pleading for Malone to go back to KCP, even though KCP was also overmatched.

Games 1-4 there. 3 day break between Games 2 and 3. Cannot state how important that is and how important it will be to win both home games (I expect a split)

Bruce was bad against KCP but remember this years Minnesota team is much better. McDaniels and Reid are legitimate difference makers. Nuggets are probably a bit worse due to their lack of bench scoring. Christian Braun or Reggie Jackson have got to have huge series.

Hasn't Watson done pretty well against Ant this season? I wonder if Malone will go to him more in this series.

It feels like Malone doesn’t trust CB and Watson a helluva lot right now, but I think they should be able to play slightly bigger roles against the TWolves. Although the TWolves are terrific, they don’t have a ton of playoff experience together and they don’t have a lot of experience playing this season with KAT. And they don’t have Lebron James, who was insanely good in the Lakers’ series — I don’t know what drugs he is taking, but whatever they are, they’re working, as that was the best I’ve seen Lebron play in a long while. Edwards is impressive, but he ain’t prime Lebron and what we just saw was close to that. Neither Gobert nor Towns are as great as Davis was in that series either.
I hope the Nuggets can get reasonably healthy by Saturday and that Jokic has 100% motivation level to win and keep playing deep into the spring, as it’s possible he’d like to spend some time with his family. If they get those things — health and 100% motivation — I think they’ll win this series.

People are underestimating just how awesome LeBron and AD were. I'm convinced the Lakers would have beaten any other team in the West.
Contrast that the Suns who were absolutely awful.
And so the form lines of the Nuggets-Wolves might be a little skewed.
Yes they are a much better defensive team but they won't put anywhere near the pressure on the Nuggets interior defense as did the Lakers.

Being objective, the Wolves have an edge on us this series due to superior overall talent, depth, and energy. The Lakers series likely sapped a lot of energy from us as LeBron/AD played us much tougher than the Suns did with Minny. Except for our championship experience, culture, chemistry, having the best player in the world, and homecourt advantage in a game 7, I’d pick Minny in 6.
We have to hope for perfect health going into Saturday, keeping that health for up to 7 games, and that we have the motivation from Jokic to get to WCF. I see signs of burnout with him and our team, to be frank. We may be at the end of our rope, and going in with Murray clearly having multiple leg issues while KCP is just getting over an ankle sprain of his own, I’m not optimistic.
IF the Nuggets survive this series, it will take the full seven games, unless Minny has key injury or two early on. Edwards has tweaked his ankles, but he’s unstoppable and so young that he recovers fast from those little annoyances. Finch loss could hurt the team or motivate them even more. Will he be on sidelines? How will Nori do if Finch can’t roam sidelines?
We may have met our match, but I’m not predicting who will win this series. I will just watch and hope to be entertained.

The other scenario is that the Nuggets are ready to explode.
Fatigue will not be an issue. They had 5/6 days off before the Lakers series, a 3-day break after games 1 & 2, and now another 4-day break.
I think we can really drag the Twolves offense through the mud. They faced zero resistance vs the pathetic Suns.
Look for PWat and Braun to have the sort of impact off the bench they did in that home game vs Minny at the end of the season.
I'm super optimistic. Someone has to beat peak Jokic and the champion Nuggets in 7.
I don't think it's a team where KAT is the no.2 guy.

I am not scared of Minny. Kat can't guard Jokic. Gober can't guard Jokic. If they start doubling than the other guys will have to make shots. We shot poorly so far but we're not that bad shooters so the shots will start falling eventually. Beating Suns in 4 could also be a trap fir Minny

Now obviously Murrray health is an issue. But energy I'm not sure is the issue. If we can't get rested on 5 days rest, that goes to something more then rest as an issue IMO. If Jokic is burnt out, with a team competing for a Championship, then that goes to again to something about him as a person and his committment. I don't think he's burnt out, and I've never seen him not bring it for a series. We need to be prepared though that Jokic is going to hover around 50% FG% and maybe even below that. Last year he shot 48% in the series vs. MIN and MIN has the pieces to make it hard on him. I think we need to be realistic that it's not burnout, but the fact that AD in round 1 and Gobert in RD 2 are two of the hardest guys for him to efficiently score on. He shot 59% vs. LAL, but he was also selective in how he attacked AD and didn't try and force things. He'll either do that vs. MIN OR he'll be more aggressive but that will see a much lower FG%.

Murray health, availability, and effectiveness on the floor when he is available will be key to the series. Jaden and NAW will make life tough for our guards. This series is gonna be ugly sometimes.
