Didnt you like update everyone on every single Grand Rapid Gold game? I checked the box scores for the most part. I watched maybe 8 or 9 games, mostly when they were on right before Avs or Nuggets games. And only the ones where Watson and/or White played. Didn't watch a second of a game without them. EDIT: When you said I forgot the Gold, I was thinking you were talking about the old Denver Gold (original USFL, 1984-1986). Didn't register until you actually said Grand Rapids in your reply that you were talking about the G-League squad

Denver has a problem with oversaturation when it comes to professional sports teams. too many options, not enough eyeballs. Indiana, Oklahoma and Utah all have majority white suburban/working class/rural populations and have zero problems fostering rabid basketball fanbases. pretty much this. in OKC, sacramento, utah, etc the nba team is the ONLY team in town. denver has a team in pretty much every league. including soccer and lacrosse You forgot #TeamBlessed, Portland.

Gilbert Arenas was talking with JJ and offered his explanation as to why Jokic isn't as celebrated as other stars, and it's the usual spiel we all heard 1000 times before: he doesn't have fancy handles, flashy dunks or he doesn't shoot 3s like Steph. and his social media presence is non-existent. and then he began to completely contradict himself (which JJ didn't pick up on, sadly) by saying if Jokic was wearing a Knicks jersey, his game would be better appreciated. so it isn't that Jokic's game is unappealing to casuals, it's that Denver does not have the massive NY media market that would have broadcasted to the world incessantly that Jokic is a brilliant player. Its probably little of everything. Denver isn't most lucrative destination, but I doubt thats the biggest thing. Jokic himself isn't too marketable. And it has nothing to do with his game. As you said, he doesn't have social media, he refuses to give any kind of interview outside of what is mandatory media availability. DNVR guys went to Serbia last summer, yet, I don't remember they had anything exclusive with Nikola. In same time, they did interviews with both Calvin Booth and TC. They had Vlatko in their studio, numerous 1 on 1 with every player outside of Jokic and I don't remember they had Malone on program, but I might be wrong... for last 6-7 years I remember Jokic giving only 2 exclusives, both to Edin Avdic and Nenad Kostic, Bosnian/Serbian duo who are probably best basketball commentators in exYU. And both were done in USA. He doesn't give any interviews in Serbia since one newspaper put in something he hasn't said like 7-8 years ago. When he played for Serbia in WC 2019. he didn't even give any statements after games. Literally nothing. He did ease out last year before and during EC. At least he was there on media availabilities and was giving statements after games... And when you are like that, you just aint marketable. But I think Jokic is OK with it. If someone from suit business is smart, he/she will talk with him. Especially if Nuggets win championship. Jokic coming to games in suit is big marketing opportunity. And I think that is kind of deal Jokic would gladly do.

Jokic should definitely be a pitch man for Taco Bell commercials. It writes itself.

I looked at it as an extension of my Nugs fandom, watching to see if Watson or White could be something. Those other teams? I never miss a game unless real life stuff happens and I can't avoid it. I'll get 2 laptops out and have a game on the TV and a game on the desktop if it comes down to it.

The bar for following a team shouldnt be watching every game. But each their own definitions
Watching half the games and checking every (almost) box score

25% of all NBA championships have involved Pat Riley as a player, assistant coach, head coach, or executive on either the winning or losing side.

been looking around, and a ton of Heat fans are ODing on this "they can't match our heart" fairytale narrative.
poor guys, thinking another sham Eastern Conference MVP like Giannis, Embiid and Tatum is waiting for them in the finals. reality is going to hit them like an ice bucket challenge.

if the reports are true and Uncle Jeff (along with DAJ) recruited Cowboy to sign with the Nugs, then he earned that ring in more ways than one.
would be very happy to see Jeff win one. genuinely decent human being that had one of the hardest career paths in NBA history.

OT but I'll never forget Kurt Angle refusing to fight Val Venus (whose shtick was male bimbo) unless he could wear medical gloves. that remains one of the funniest thing I can remember.

I stopped watching most other sports because:
1. I got sick of the preachy politics (let blm destroy your city, get your vaccine, etc).
2. I’m really busy - whatever free time I have, I try to carve it out for wife and son (son is only 10, so trying to enjoy time with him while he’s a kid)
At this point, nuggets are the only team I watch and dutifully follow (even despite my exhaustion of the nba’s stupid politics) - but I follow because we haven’t gotten a banner yet, and two, I just adore Murray and jokic (and honestly - the rest of the team is just full of quality gentleman who love the fans).
When we win the championship, I honestly don’t know if I’ll still follow the nuggets? Not out of spite, but just because - I don’t know if I’ll have any other aspiration left as a sports fan? Personally, I probably will as it’s a nice stress escape - but winning the nba finals with the nuggets is my Everest as a sports fan.
My son loves sports, but hates watching sports. I think he’s a smart young man lol. While a wonderful stress escape, and a way to affiliate with a tribe of friends - sports is ultimately an exercise in heartbreak - but maybe I’m too cynical?
