You two don't even get to celebrate when we win the Finals. I’ll be at the parade. I spent a goodly sum to be at Game 1 in Ball. Unlike rock, I think we have a punter’s chance to beat Boston. But it is less than 50%. We will be underdogs. And rightly so. Why do you think it's less than 50%? Because Boston has been so dominant in the playoffs? Because Boston has no match-up for Jokic? Because Boston has a head coach who has no business in NBA Finals? Let's all be serious om this board. Denver is at worst a slight favorite or this is a 50/50 series.

I do not care who we play. It’s the NBA Finals, it’s supposed to be hard.

We will not be favored to win series when odds come out Monday night if/when Boston wins. Copium is a powerful drug. Dunno about you, but I’d have rather had the 85% chance we are champs if White doesn’t tip in or it doesn’t count, versus the 50/50 series you say Finals will be with Boston.

I just want to see that first championship, but winning a 6 game series against Boston vs a 4-5 game series against Miami just seems more rewarding and deserving!

Y’all are coping very well.
I think the reason most of you are having an easier time feeling okay about what happened last night is that, on average, you’re about 40 years younger than me. I could taste what would likely have been our first championship. The Finals against Miami would have been our’s to lose. 80%+ chance, at least, that we have a parade. You know how long oldsters like myself and TNF have waited? For me, almost 40 years. For TNF, add a decade to that. This was our best chance. We may not ever get to the point of having an 80% chance at a chip again in our remaining lives. For you guys who might live 40 years further into the future than us geezers? There’s always next year, next decade. Maybe even a title in the year 2065 when I’m either 111 or, more likely, dead!

calm, geezers.
our guys our rested. their chi is balanced. their cortisol levels are reduced. that inflamed wrist, knee and back that has been bothered them for a long time feels utterly fantastic right now. they are just sitting calmly and patiently, waiting for whatever beaten and exhausted Eastern conference team is going to limp their way to the finals.

Home court advantage is so huge, and we had it if not for exactly 3.0 seconds on clock. I looked this up, and this is why it’s so huge…
Excluding the Orlando bubble, 54 of the 75 teams with home-court advantage in the NBA Finals went on to win the championship.
A series with Boston, based on history and the fact Boston has Finals experience and we don’t, is not a 50/50 tossup. We would be underdogs.
Hope, pray, or whatever it is you do for Miami to pull off the upset Monday night. Spread right now is Boston -8. Not looking great right now.

This. I completely understand GBG’s perspective, but also think there is plenty to this. These people are professional athletes but they are also human, and this explains why there are not many back to back champions — the offseason gets a lot shorter and long seasons take a physical toll. Both the Celtics (who went into June of 2022 last season) and the Heat are getting banged up and tired. The Nuggets are getting a very nice rest break during a marathon of an NBA season. If its the Celtics, I’d say the Nuggets’ rest offsets the home court advantage and makes those factors even steven. Obviously, the Nuggets would have a huge advantage against the Heat, who are already showing the effects of playing a bigger and more athletic team. The Nuggets can beat the Celtics even if they have to start the series on the road. The Nuggets won on the road against the Suns, and against the Lakers. They can do it against the Celtics or the Heat.

Not really fair to say Silver rigged it. Jimmy Butler got a massive bail-out on that call, with 3 free throws at the end. I also thought the call against Bam was garbage. On the whole - I didn't see the refs giving extra favor to either team. Maybe, slightly, the Celtics - but Boston deserved to win that game.

Did a little math and vegas has us about 40% to beat the Celtics
It’s possible to win but the “what ifs” are killing me.
I don’t know how long, if ever, until I get over a finals loss. We aren’t Miami, Boston, golden state, LA, Milwaukee, or even the spurs back in the day where you lose the finals and it’s ok - you’ll make it back
This may be our only chance. It’s so insanely tough to make it this far (took denver 50 years)
I’m not going to make it until Thursday and even though I fully expect a loss, when reality kicks in it’s going to be the worst sports experience I’ve ever gone through.
