Which people of course were upset about when Jokic only won one series in the last 2 playoffs, with guys like Austin Rivers and Facu playing significant minutes and even starting games...

It wasn’t a regular season award after Jokic won it

Fami should make his own award because winning the MVP obviously dont mean s**t "winning" vs throwing a 3 year childish tantrum backed by a full force media campaign and the race card I'll say it again: Embiid has no coherent case for winning this award. Over the course of the regular season Jokic was drastically better. It shouldn't have been close and nobody has yet presented anything close to a good argument in Embiid's favor. It's all "Jokic doesn't deserve 3 in a row" "It's Embiid's turn" "Jokic gets special treatment like Nash and Dirk because they're white" "but the eye test though!"

Embiid has never used the race card and he can't control what professional morons like Kendrick Perkins say on air.
Embiid has always been deferential towards Jokic, the worst thing he's ever said was Jokic was been untruthful when he said he didn't care about winning the award.

Embiid has always been deferential towards Jokic, the worst thing he's ever said was Jokic was been untruthful when he said he didn't care about winning the award. He literally called out Jokic and said he didn't play defense and wouldn't hold up in the playoffs a few hours before he ducked the game against us in Denver. And it's not about him calling out Jokic per se anyway, it's about him complaining relentlessly in the media about how nobody likes him and how the standards for winning MVP seem to change and how "he doesn't know what he has to do" to win one. Three solid years of passive aggressive jabs every time someone stuck a mic in his face. Embiid has been publicly begging for this award for 3 years and throwing fits when he didn't win it. He finally got handed one because everyone was just sick of it, like a child who wears down their mom throwing a tantrum for a toy or some candy at the store and gets their bad behavior rewarded at the end.

Jokic didn't win because voter fatigue is real, the optics of stumbling to the finishing line was bad, voters weren't quite comfortable giving Jokic a distinction MJ/Bron/Magic hadn't achieved and arguably the two most influential voices in the media landscape publicly switched their support from Joker to Embiid.
I mean, are we honestly going to argue that Lowe and Simmons were motivated by sparing Embiid's feelings? lol

I don't believe a single one of the voters believes in their heart of hearts that Embiid had a better season. Because it's not possible to look at it objectively and come to that conclusion.

if Embiid has managed to stay healthy enough to win the 21 MVP, the odds of Jokic winning now would be a near slam dunk.

if Embiid has managed to stay healthy enough to win the 21 MVP, the odds of Jokic winning now would be a near slam dunk. And that's utterly shameful. Even if Embiid played the exact same number of games as Jokic he didn't have anything resembling a case in any of these three seasons. It's like we always start from the basic position that Jokic doesn't deserve it before any games are even played, and the onus is on Jokic to outplay Embiid by such a margin that there is no choice.- This is like someone in the late 90s trying to convince themselves that Patrick Ewing deserved an MVP over Jordan. Embiid isn't even Malone, who also never deserved one over Jordan. There's nothing wrong with Patrick Ewing, he's a deserving HOF player, but he was never the best player in the NBA and neither has Embiid been.

I dont think Embiid winning is very deserved, but the MVP have never really been about who is the best player. The two years Jokic won wasnt an exception (my opinion is that it was deserved). Either you think the MVP means you are the best player and you value it, or you think its a joke. Cant be selective depending on who wins You obsess over an award you dont respect?
