Only MVP that matters is FMVP. Jokic probably could have won if he didnt coast the last month. Im glad he did, snd Malone is showing he is very good at load managing.

Award to be announced today. I fully expect Embiid to win it, and it was all based on narratives and voter fatigue, not facts.

when Jokić says he doesn't really care much about MVP,, he's deadset straight up. i reckon most of y'all agree it'd be robbery if they dont give it to him yet third time in a row. the guy is a bloody monster and purely inspirational

TBF Joker coasted hard after we beat Memphis to basically lock up the 1 seed, while Embiid tryharded the whole end of the season, and that was probably fresh in the voters' minds. Made the two look a lot closer than they were impact-wise, and in some sense you can argue that those late games where you're fighting for playoff positioning "matter more" so voters have a legitimate reason to value them higher.
After all the coasting, Joker probably still deserved MVP, but I'm not surprised the vote went differently.

Voters may take those late games more important only if they mean something "for the seeding" and I could understand that. But if they mean nothing and are just garbage games no way they can value those games for anything. During those late games Nuggets kept #1 seed and Philly lost their second seed they had for a short period of time. Straight garbage was the voting this year |
