Max we could offer was 9.5 a year. Brother.... sign and trade. All of these teams were over the cap, so a S&T deal would have to be within the salary matching range allowed in the CBA. The Rockets had acquired Ariza and his $12.8 mil salary which could be sent to the Pistons for matching purposes. The main compensation the Pistons got ā their incentive for making the deal ā was Isaiah Stewart, the 16th pick in the draft (which had been traded from the Blazers to the Rockets in the Covington/Ariza deal). The only player under contract on the Nuggets with a salary in the range of Woodās new deal is Barton. And we have no way of knowing if the Pistons were interested in any of the Nuggetsā rookies.

Yeah, today was the deadline, about 3-4 hours ago.
ESPN names a few 2017 first round picks who didn't extend who will potentially be RFAs: John Collins, Jarrett Allen, Lonzo Ball, Lauri Markkanan, Malik Monk, D.J. Wilson, Josh Hart, Dennis Smith Jr., Frank Ntilikina, Zach Collins, Justin Jackson, Terrance Ferguson, Tony Bradley
Others who didn't extend who could be expected to get FA offers: Jrue Holiday, PJ Tucker, Mitchell Robinson, Devonte' Graham, Gary Trent Jr., Svi Mykhailiuk

Jonathan Isaac: 4 years, 80M Luke Kennard: 4 years, 64M Markelle Fultz: 3 years, 50M OG Anunoby: 4 years, 72M Derrick White: 4 ye, 73M Does Grantās $60 mil deal still look crazy? Absolutely itās still an overpay. I pulled this snippet from a DenverStiffs article today (ā10 Questions...ā) to illustrate why... āSecond, the perception of Denverās defense with Jerami Grant has largely been overrated. In the 2019-20 regular season, the Nuggets were worse by 10.9 points per 100 possessions with Grant on the floor; in the playoffs, they were worse by 7.4 points, per Cleaning the Glass. Conversely, all of the current Nuggets starters were positive, and in the playoffs only Millsap regressed to a slight negative. (Interestingly, MPJ was -1.5 in the regular season but +13.9 points per 100 possessions better in the postseason, a very good omen for him.)ā Scooter, Grant was simply overrated on the basis of many measures, by you, by other panicky fans, and apparently by our front office that was willing to match Detroitās offer.

GBG - great note!
As I said before - I think grant had a lousy IQ. Itāll be exposed now, the more our defense showcases well this year.

Does Grantās $60 mil deal still look crazy? oh for sure. Isaac is so much better Isaac is always injured. By the end of this season (heās out for the year after ACL surgery), he will have played a total of 136 games over 4 seasons, for an average of 34 games/season. Players cannot be better if they are in street clothes.

Players cannot be better if they are in street clothes. As I told you well before Grant left, I feared Grant was an injury waiting to happen. He crashes the floor, unfortunately not the glass, frequently. Fortunately, Grant doesnāt seem made of glass. But I still think he will miss major time at some point. Another reason Iām relieved we didnāt sink $20 mil of capital per year into his future. So Isaac being paid on the come may be unwise, but assuming past health assures us of future health is also potentially dangerous thinking.

Btw, ya know why people lament losing Grant? Itās the IDEA of what Grant ideally gives his team, not the ACTUALITY of what he gives. As all advanced metrics show, Grant is mediocre at best. Yet, he appears like an athlete who can consistently stop top wings in the league, and he has occasional scoring games that make people believe heās a real scorer too. Facts and numbers show heās neither. One or two good defensive games in the playoffs does not make for a defensive ace. I agree that heās got BBIQ problems, which results in underachieving what folks think he should be doing on a regular basis.
Also, folks bought the hype from Adam Mares and Matt Moore, lol.
