Barton was talking about how cool the nightlife was in Memphis! Lol. Can this dude take off a night from going out and focus on b-ball? Guys have lives too. Kinda unrealistic to expect them to do nothing other than focus on basketball for 8 months a year. Harden practically lives in the damn club and he does ok. |

This just confirms the LA night-life thing that I assumed would happen before the Lakers game. Get this dude the f**k off the team. You either want to be a professional athlete and be the best or you want to party. Go party in f***ing Sacramento. Officially done with Barton. Don't want that type of s**t rubbing off on the young guys. Go get your 15 mil from another team. Sign a vet to replace him. |

Good news is they're in Miami tonight. No night life there.
If Barton didn't look like a hungover mess in LA and played well, nobody would care what he does.
It's not absurd to ask a guy to not get lit the night before a critical game in a playoff race. It's not unreasonable at all.
Ready to move on from that s**t.

When he plays on offense like Harden or on defense like Gary Payton, he can party as them, but if he plays like s**t after a night out in a crucial part of the season he ought to think twice about partying.

Finch seems like a smart guy.
Personally, I don't care as much about the x's and o's though. There's no coach that's gonna be doing everything right all the time. There's always a give and take between trying to get players to buy into your system vs adjusting your system to fit players.
I think we might need a guy that's a little tougher though. If guys really are partying and not showing up to games focused and ready to play, that strikes me as a discipline issue. Perhaps Malone is too nice/soft? I can say for sure that the team lost to the Grizzlies because they weren't focused and ready to play - not a lack of talent or the right system.

I'm not gonna blame that on Malone. This isn't college, the players are expected to perform hungover or not. But dudes like Kobe and Jordan didn't party much. Not that everyone needs to be as focused as they were but a certain degree of professionalism is expected.

I don't expect him to not party for 8 months, but maybe it's time to buckle down for the last month of basketball and not go out all the time. Say what you want, but to me...it's not giving a crap.
