KAT traded to the Knicks for Randle and Divincenzo per Shams This helps the Nuggets a great deal. KAT was the best Jokic defender Minny had.

Huge trade for the Nuggets.
Randle is a playoff dud.
Jokic no longer has to go through a wall of 7 footers in Minny.

this is the best news of the offseason, by far.
KAT is arguably the best Joker defender in the league while still giving the Nuggets 20/10/3 offensively in the playoffs. he was a matchup demon for us.
Julius Randle, welcome back to the Western Conference.

Interesting trade. I think it's a decent move for the Wolves. Of course, I was never that big on the towns/rudy combo and it seemed like something had to happen. I couldn't see them keeping that twin tower lineup together for much longer.

I already said we would win next years championship on the acquisition of Saric and RW alone (Jokic and Murray can finally rest) - but this event now confirms that.
Minny is still a damn good team that will require full focus to defeat - but considerably easier to gameplan against now.
Randle is actually good - a game a lot like Zion Williamson's - bullying inside the paint, and we tend to struggle against such scorers. However, both have in common late season injuries, as that style of play doesn't lend well to full-season longevity.
I feel bad for Minny. Once they defeated us, they celebrated too early and completely overlooked the Mavs. Last year was their year.

Both fan bases seem to hate this trade. Which means it’s probably a good deal for both teams.

Julius Randle can't shoot 3s like KAT so their spacing is going to be putrid. and he will join Rupert and Naz in their complete inability to guard Jokic -- inconvenient fact for us Nuggetholics, KAT put Jokic in prison during that infamous game 7 meltdown.
Tim Nugget for life Connelly just neutered the biggest threat to Denver. I can't wait for the rematch after Braun gets 82 games of starter minutes under his belt. Malone and his vet bias won't be able to defer to Kentavious Wilson-Chandler and let Ant run the table.

Are we overlooking OKC -- who have gotten better with the acquisition of Caruso and Hartstein? And their young guys got 1 year of playoff experience under their belt. I would say OKC/Dallas are the 2 contenders in the West, not us. Obviously, Boston and now Knicks in the East. Denver Nuggets are not championship contenders this year -- unless roster changes happen. I like Saric signing but he is a PF, not a center. We still need a backup center. I have hated on the Russell Westbrick signing enough -- no need to delve further ...

We also need a backup SG. I don't think Julian Strawther is it

my read on this is, whether or not it makes Minny better in a vacuum, it definitely makes Minny worse against us. KAT on Jokic with Gobert lurking was a tough thing to match up with. Randle not so much. And KAT offensively could drag Jokic out of the paint and leave an undersized player trying to stop Gobert lobs. Randle isn't really a threat from three, so the Nuggets can keep the paint packed and stop the easy buckets.
Minnesota is no longer our kryptonite, and now it's just a matter of beating 4 not-our-kryptonite teams in a row in the playoffs. Which is still a tall order (it is for every team).

As bad as they are on offense with KAT gone, they got better on defense. If we meet them in the playoffs it will (just as it was last year) come down to the refs. Will the refs allow them to hack us 24/7 or not. In games where we were allowed to play our "free" brand of basketball, we dominated Wolves. In games where refs allowed to be played like it was in late 80s early 90s, they dominated us.
So, in general, KAT getting traded does not change our matchup vs them one bit in my opinion. And i really hope that we avoid them at all costs and only meet in WCF if they get there. That matchup is simply exhausting, both mentally and physically with high risk of injury on every possession.

That's a good point. I think/hope we'll be better equipped to handle that physicality with CB starting and Saric/Westbrook coming off the bench. But we'll see. They still look pretty tough on paper to me.

It all depends on whether this is the season Ant takes the leap into being a consistent and true superstar. If he plays like a 1st team All NBA, any team will have its hands full with Minny, including us.

the Wolves punked us, Ant looked like MJ 2.0 and KAT played phenomenal defense on Jokic. some of the best I've seen against MVP Jokic
the latter is gone and the former two will be alleviated with the promotion of Braun and the addition of Westbrook. Malone sticking with KCP over Braun might be his biggest mistake of the series.
