well, Zubac got into a brawl at a nighclub and as club security tried to break up the fight, Calvin's FA prize Dario Saric decided to tag himself in and fight the bouncers, which ended in Dario getting put to sleep in a chokehold maneuver. that's one way to celebrate getting signed to the Nuggets. What did we have to sacrifice to the basketball gods for that title? I’ve never seen a championship team go through so much s**t so fast. People we talking dynasty. Now it’s trying to squeak into the playoffs

Off the court Dario has been a disaster since a very young age (eg. DUI, hitting 3 cars and running away @18yo) and it did show to an extent on the court in a way of a big ego, but he was extremely dominant in youth categories. This all toned down heavily as he got a reality check in Euroleague and NBA. Now he's been fairly behaving himself and on some bad performances of the Croatian national team he's been pretty self critical and not looking for excuses, so I've come to think he's matured. Also his game is team oriented, he adjusted it to his abilities at the NBA level (unlike Hezonja who remained an idiot on and off the court)
Don't know what to make of this incident but Zubac is nice guy and if it started with him, they were probably provoked (after being kicked out by Greece from the qualifiers) so I'm willing to give it a pass. My biggest issue remains the player option with this signing.

On a positive side, he seems like he'll come well rested to the training camp:

Is it worth a separate thread about Jamal's non contract extension?
I truly think that he needs to be traded if he does not extend.

Saric didn’t even look like he did anything lol.
Let’s hope he has more impact on the court than he did in that scuffle.

Nah, according to JB, Jamal saw my post how he is not worth that amount of $ so he decided not to sign it. Because, you know, players read all our posts here and take it personally...

Is it worth a separate thread about Jamal's non contract extension? I truly think that he needs to be traded if he does not extend. I think Calvin is playing hardball. Max contract, but with many exits on the basis of injury, etc. I think Calvin's plan is to run the current core for this season (24-25). I do think he's hoping to trade MPJ next summer, in an effort to clear space and sign Lauri M or Ingram. I think he's hoping that Jamal rejects the max, and uses that space to chase Donovan, Kyrie or Van Fleet -- all while bringing back Gordon. The idea would be that Ingram and Kyrie (or Donovan), along with AG, all take slightly "discounted" maxes in order to play together. So - we'll see what happens... I personally would prefer to keep Jamal and MPJ. To me, they fit well together, Jamal is a perfect fit with Joker, and the core-salary issue can work just fine. But don't be surprised if the FO goes for the "blow it up" option on the core.

What’s all this Murray talk? He hasn’t been signed yet because it’s smart to wait until AFTER his Team Canada play to sign him as an injury can always occur with him. If he tore his ACL like Cancar did last summer, and it was after we signed him to the $209 million extension, we’d look pretty stupid not to have waited. That’s all that this delay is about.

Hopefully this year we can start the season with a fully healthy roster. 15/15 and 3/3. It's been several consecutive years of carrying at least one injured guy for the entire season (Murray, then Gillespie, then Vlatko).

He sees our FO giving player options to fringe NBA players left and right and figures the normal max is always there even if he has a nasty injury... so why not give it a shot for more...

Shams reported 10 days ago that Nuggets offered him a 4 year 208 max extension, which means that deal was on the table but apparently there were protections because why the hell on earth would Jamal not agree on such a gift of an offer considering his lower body injury history and especially how he looked the last time we saw him (not a max player). If there is a rift between two sides and he is acting as frustrated/childish/egoistic as he was this year, Nuggets should look to trade him. Sadly there is no good trade available to actually improve at the position given our lack of assets and the only deal that i don't think anybody would love it is something like Jamal/Zeke/Cancar + 2031 1st for Trae Young and Bogdan Bogdanovic

the Raptors have traditionally been fond of our bums (Sonny Weems, Julyan Stone, Thrill, AC etc) but at the league minimum, not at Jonas Valanchunus money.

Did you see the money he wanted? Not happening. There's a significant disconnect from reality on his side, it seems. Not sure he'd be coming to play a role here.

www.spotrac.com/nba/apron/_/year/2024According to this we're still just barely under the 1st apron, so a s&t could still be a possibility. That said, short of including the 2031 1st, there is no way a team like Toronto or Washington would take our poo poo platter of players back in return for a guy like GJT or Tyus Jones. Not only that, but both of those guys would most likely get more money than we could match in a trade (both made 15+ mill last season) and if we were willing to go over the 2nd apron for one player this summer, we probably would've just kept KCP in that scenario anyway.
