If it's true they signed Vlatko then that pretty much guarantees one of Nnaji or Tyson are going out in a trade.
Either that or we're really rolling into the season with just Braun and Strawther at SG, and that would be baffling.

Either Nnaji has to go or Tyson has to go and we slide Vlatko to the 3.

I like Saric fine as the backup 5. I think the shooting from the 5 is critical given he'll probably play a lot with Westbrook.
My gripe is the asset management. I would do basically anything to have a negotiator join this front office to help them not get fleeced on basically every contract they give out. Stop telling me how ominous the second apron is if you're not going to negotiate basically any trade or contract from a position of strength.
Having to use the TP MLE and give a player option is just peak Nuggets stuff. Literally the least shrewd organization in the league to always be giving 125-150% of what should be needed in a CBA that is so crippling every team is apparently counting pennies, the Nuggets throw around extensions and contracts for double what anybody else would. I look forward to having to salary dump this in a year, or being unable to bring him back if he's good this year.
Overall, the roster construction is peak Tim Connelly era "do we have our 7th backup 4 yet or do we need to go find one?"
How this team has 100 4s and 5s off the bench and 2 wings is so far beyond me, I can't put it into words. And no, stone feet Hunter Tyson is not a 3. You are the position you guard.
The logical thing is "well you have to flip Zeke for a wing". Nobody is doing that unless you're giving up your last draft pick to do so, and that would just be completely boneheaded asset management. So yeah, that's probably what will happen.

1. The Spurs salary dump Graham to Charlotte, yes the exact same team the Nuggets paid to dump an expiring Reggie Jackson contract, for half the number of picks it cost Denver. Couldn't have shopped that one around? Still curious what that salary dump even accomplished if KCP was walking anyway:
2. The most Kroenke trade graphic of all time. Same guy we got for Rudy Gobert, if memory serves.

If the Nuggets can find a way to get Westbrook they will field an NBA caliber bench maybe for the first time in the Jokic era. Make it happen. There is still a gaping hole at SG. Especially since all of our SFs are more of the swing forward variety than the 2/3 variety. Literally all we have is Braun and Strawther right now. We absolutely have to find another guy, even if it's just bringing Holiday back. Hopefully it's an upgrade, but you gotta find somebody. The 3rd two way also needs to be a 2/3. I sorta hear Will Barton wants to return, and he’s a 2/3. 😳 😉 |

He’s a good player for the price. Has a big ego, or at least that’s been the knock on him since he got drafted. Combined with Westbrook’s ego, and Malone might have trouble getting guys to check their egos at the locker room door. Chemistry with the new guys will be essential.

I feel like playing with the 3 x MVP and a Balkan brother, the ego piece might not be a concern. I like the signing, because he's playable and we didn't have anyone close to him in the Wolves series. He would have got minutes at the 4 & 5. Sign Russ and I'll cut Booth a little slack. Basically you're replacing KCP with Saric and Westbrook who have seen a bit in this league. |
