Dear Pussies:
The only thing that matters is:
Can we beat the Twolves?
Some notes:
MURRAY CONTRACT:
I think Murray is taking time to decide whether he can make an ALL-NBA team and get a supermax next summer. He's likely using the Olympics to decide how good his body is. If the Nuggets get a decent backup PG, Murray can actually put up better stats, because he won't be fatigued. So in reality - I think Murray is waiting to see who we sign as a backup. If Pickett is backing him up, Murray will sign soon lol. Murray loves Denver (and we love him). He's not leaving.
(side note: love that this board slanders murray and then turns into a bunch of pussies at the thought of Murray leaving - never change, Nuggets proboards. Never change.)
GARY TRENT JR:
GTJ can FXCKING BALL! Don't toy with my emotions - is he seriously and option for us?
OKC:
OKC is not the favorite in the west - lol. They have two big bodies - Chet and Hart - that's it! Nobody else can guard Jokic. I love Hart's game - but Jokic can turn him into a foul-machine. OKC is also not a high-volume 3-point shooting team. I actually think the Giddey trade will come to haunt them - Giddey created a lot of offense for them, and could create his own shot. OKC is better - no doubt - but the lack of size will be their undoing.
TWOLVES:
Yet again - the only team that stands in our way. We now have Holmes to counter their size, a major addition. We have a guarantee that Ant will have to contend with Braun and PWat, not KCP - that's addition by subtraction.
SARIC:
I really don't like Saric - but - I do agree he's better than Jeff Green. I'm going to trust Calvin and roll with it.
FA's DON'T LIKE DENVER:
Snooze. In 2013, the Championship Heat rotation included the following in their rotation: Mario Chalmers, Birdman, and well-beyond-his-prime Mike Miller - despite the team having Lebron, Wade, and Florida taxes. FA's want the most money they can get. If Denver had a MAX spot available, everyone would want it. But we don't - and similar to the 2013 Miami Heat, we're doing our best with what we can find.
KSE:
Please spare me the "KSE is cheap and sucks." I live in LA. I would shudder if we had Steve Balmer as the owner. We would be shipping out MPJ and 7 first rounders for 35-y/o Durant - and then we would be trading Murray to the Bucks for aging Dame. Steve Ballmer would then dance his ass off about how great he is, every dumbass on this board would be shooting fireworks because our FO "does something" and we would be the queens of the NBA on ESPN. And then May would come around and we would lose in the 2nd round. KSE builds dynasties. In the NBA, with the new CBA, you do that by hoarding effective players on cheap-o contracts. We already have that in Braun, PWat and Strawther. Calvin is trying to motivate Malone to cultivate the other players on cheap contracts. It's a good plan - the kind of strategy that wins multiple "exec of the year" awards, as well as O'Brien and Stanley Cup trophies. NOTE: no other owner of a bball team in the last 20 years has had 3 different GM's win exec of the year, other than the Kroenkes.
Back to Minny -
Everything that could go wrong for us, against the TWolves, did go wrong:
- Murray injured
- MPJ forgot how to shoot (was likely injured too)
- Malone rotations
For the Twolves, everything went right - they were healthy!
And yet - we still had a 20-point lead in Game 7. A game, in which, we didn't have a single big man come off the bench, against the biggest team in the entire league. Saric, Vlatko and Holmes is already a LOT more size than we had last year to throw against the TWovles.
We needed more size - we needed a backup PG to keep Murray healthy (Wind is saying this is getting addressed).
Calvin's record isn't perfect -
But if this off-season ends with Holmes, Saric, a competent PG, and Braun/PWat guarding Ant, all in exchange for 33-yo-KCP, Reggie and 6 seconds, then that's all I need to see to know that we're taking the banner next year.
