I don’t understand Ring’s inconsistency with his takes. His whole agenda in the late season and playoff time was that there are Jokic fans and Nuggets fans, and that the Jokic fans are too easy on him. We need to criticize Jokic when warranted was Ring’s take. Which I agree with, though it can go overboard since he still the best player we will ever have on this team.
Now, he does the exact opposite! Says Murray is literally the only player that matters, and that you know Jokic will be the best player on the floor. Huh? I get whiplash reading his stuff sometimes. Ring literally ignored that Jokic shot 2 for 10 from 3 in Game 7 at home, and we lost by 8. 4-10 gets us 6 more points directly, and probably saves us 4 points on the defensive end by slowing Minny down as they have to inbound ball after two more makes instead of pushing on fast break after a miss. That 2-10 by Jokic was the one stat one could point to that eliminated us from the playoffs.
Did Ring make an effort to point this out? Nope. Crickets. Because, now to his way of thinking, only Murray matters, lol.

We can win without his 3 pt shot, though it will take more creativity, and we may have to play less AG + Jokic lineups at same time, to have more spacing. I think AG can up his 3PT% back to mid-30% range. He was at 34.7% our championship season, and 29.0% last season. The last two postseasons, though, AG was at 39.1% and 40.7% from 3, admittedly low volume and limited sample sizes, but it shows AG doesn’t necessarily kill the spacing, and makes some clutch shots. It’s Jokic who we know can do better. He was at 38.3% and 35.9% the past two regular seasons, but was at 46.1% and 26.4% the past two postseasons. It’s no coincidence we won the chip when he shot great from distance and were eliminated in second round when he didn’t. So we need Jokic to be better when it really matters from distance, for sure. I don't disagree, and I think we need to let him take more in the regular season to get comfortable doing it. Derrick Jones Jr. wasn't a great outside shooter, but DAL just let him shoot all season, and he put up good # of attempts.

I'm starting to think Ring is huffing on the same laughing gas that fried Ye's brain. Braun was as productive in 19 minutes offensively as KCP was for 40 minutes, probably another reason we let him walk.

I see you guys still talking about that game 7... Its long gone people. Leave it.
Its better to focus on whats in front of us.
First order of business is Jamal Murray extension. This might be single most important thing front office needs to do. Jamal is up for 4/208, so pretty much 52 per season. That would extend Nuggets cap for additional 16M compared to this season. And Jamal is not signing 4/150 deal. No way. So Booth has to ask himself, is Jamal worth 52 per season? We are talking about solid regular season player who cant be a star. He cant. This team without Jokic is s**t, 30W team at best. Maybe even worse. He is also injury prone. In last 5 years he played 231 regular season game. MPJ played 268 regular season games during that time. Yes, I know majority of games he missed are because of knee injury, but he never played over 65 games. Jokic has played 368 regular season games in last 5 years. Thats 137 games difference. Gordon has played 328 games, and if Jamal gets his money, Jokic will earn 3M extra next season, Gordon will get 30M less. He also cant play next to another PG. We saw this during his Nuggets years, and if you said its Malone/Nuggets scheme, well he was just brutally horrible during Olympics playing next to SGA. He also has horrible conditioning, both Malone and Booth more then clearly point that on last press conference they had. Question is, can we close our eyes to all of this and say, we should give him 50M per season based on two great postseason runs? Its a big decision. Out of 5 players we are paying over 5M per season, Jamal and MPJ underperforming and Zeke is not playing at all. Thats a lot to compensate. Other question is, if we don't resign Jamal, and he leaves after this season, what are we going to do? We can try signing Kyrie who has player option next season. And thats our best bet lol...
So yeah, not the great options. I have a feeling what even Booth does, we fvckd

There is no controversy in signing Murray to the max, and I think it will happen by training camp. People are on vacation in the second half of August. No doubt Murray is taking some enjoyable down time right now to recharge his batteries and heal up what’s been nagging him. He is a star in regular season, not just “solid”. He isn’t an “AllStar”, though, due to the the stacked WC and its bevy of superstar guards. He’s too injury prone, but still can be relied on to play 60+ games in normal years. Unless Murray is traded for another star PG, I expect he will get his extension and be a Nugget for as long as Jokic is here. He needs to get in better shape and not be the slow starter he has been in early seasons of the past, and needs to be more consistent. But he is definitely a proven star in the prime years of his career. People bashing him such as you are infected with recency bias, overemphasizing his weak Olympics showing and playoff play when he likely was at about 80% health. With a 100% healthy Murray and Jokic, we have Robin and Batman in what is a perennial contending team in the Western Conference even if we might only be a 4/5 seed THIS season. We might also surprise and be top 3 seed if CB, Watson, and Strawther all take leaps. Murray will get the max.

Game 7 was a team falling apart. Everyone deserves blame. Play better for a 4 minute stretch and it's an entirely different game.
It's not all on Murray. Pointing out he played good in game 7 kinda ignores rings point tho. Murray was awful in all are losses. He was a huge reason why there was a game 7. Expecting the championship level Murray is unfair every series but we need him to be a legit 2nd option as a max player who eats into our depth. Were not winning with him tanking 3-4 games against a tough opponent.
Only concern I have about losing KCP is outside shooting. Spacing is crucial. Defenders respected KCP's shot quite abit. I'd assume with our starting lineup you'll see teams sag off CB early in the regular season. He'll need to take those shots. He's shot the 3 well but the volume is going to increase. The other aspects of his game will be an upgrade at this point.

This isn’t hard. We will sign him to max extension, maybe with a bit of injury protection, likely by October 1st, and nobody will or should blink an eye. This is how the NBA works. Maxes are given to proven players who are key pieces of contending teams, as long as it doesn’t cause an apron problem with CBA. Max contracts are not solely reserved for perennial AllStars, or even guys who have made AllStar teams in the past. Murray is a championship piece when paired with Jokic and when healthy. Again, this isn’t hard. He isn’t constantly out of shape. That’s a false narrative. He does use the RS to get into his best shape and rhythm, accounting for his typical slow starts. It doesn’t matter, as long as he’s in tip top shape and healthy for postseason. Murray can pace himself all he wants if he gets himself ready for a possible two month playoff run. It didn’t work this recent postseason, but it has worked, and should work again, as long as he’s at 100% health. He needs to be totally healthy because he isn’t an elite athlete, by NBA standards. So maybe his margin for error is narrower than for other stars in the league, given his lack of crazy athletic moves. But he is capable, and the path to our team reaching the finals is certainly there, assuming he’s available to play at his peak level.

I had speculated that Zeke for Micic would be the followup trade after the Reggie trade, but we were waiting for the new fiscal year. Then, we signed Westbrook after Holmes went down for the season , so getting Micic seemed out the window since Zeke would be kept for depth without Holmes available. Now, maybe Calvin feels Saric signing allows him to trade Zeke for Micic and allow Malone to run a 3-man PG rotation during the RS. Murray and Westbrook prolly will miss a combined 40-50 games, so the need for a third PG is there and, no, Calvin doesn’t assume Pickett can be that third PG. So who knows. Maybe there’s something to this rumor.

Now...I'm not sure after Holmes went down although Zeke still won't see much court time with Saric getting most of the backup minutes at PF and C. Only exception is injuries as Zeke would see big backup minutes unless they believe Vlatco and Watson can play small ball PF and DJ has something in the tank.

He can slide to the 3 if we need him to but he's not a smallball 4, he's a 4. 6'8" with a 6'11" wingspan, 240 pounds, solid muscle. The bench rotation should be (most minutes to fewest): Saric (C/PF) for Jokic or Gordon Westbrook (PG) for Murray Watson (SF) for Porter Strawther (SG) for Braun Cancar (PF/SF) for Gordon or Porter or Saric or Watson I'm worried Malone will want to play Westbrook and Murray together, though. Zeke doesn't help you if you lose Saric or Jokic. Only Jordan/Gordon can replace them at the 5, and Vlatko is a much better replacement for Saric/Gordon at the 4.

Broncos getting a whole new training facility.
Why didn't Stan and Ann call their cousins and split the costs on a joint facility for the Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche, Rapids, and Mammoth? Then the Avs could stop practicing at a damn local rec center.

I prefer the reigning FIBA Best Defensive Player Aleksa Avramovic, who could be had for the small price of speeding up Jalen Pickett's Philippine-league trajectory by releasing him.
the Nuggets chance to trade for Micic was when Calvin generously gifted 3 SRP to the Hornets to dump Reggie's 5m expiring. they're not trading him to us out of the goodness of their hearts.

Was probably my fav player in tourney!

There's no reason to point it out because Jokic still put up historic numbers. His level of play was good enough for a #1 option on a Championship team. Effort needed to be better at times but I'm not blaming a #1 option putting up 29/13/9 when the #2 option who talks s**t to the media and his opponents embarrasses the franchise both on and off the floor. Guy had his worst playoffs of his career, threw a heat pack on the floor, cried to officials. Lets give him a max! s**t is a joke. No matter how you slice it, Jamal Murray is not worth a max contract. Just like Michael Porter Jr is not worth a max contract. Now people will do what they do and go "yeah but Brandon Ingram got a max. Lonzo got a max. etc" So yes, lets just do things other dumb franchises do. If you confidently think that Murray/AG/MPJ as 2/3/4 options are winning another Championship, I genuinely think you are insane. Jokic is arguably the best player of all time but he can't carry guys who shoot 40% from the field and 30% from 3.
