the 2019 Blazers were the veteran playoff team and the 2019 Nuggets were the upstarts on their first run so that series should give you hope, if anything. we're at home. we've done this many times before. the Wolves are on the road and have not done this many times before. Jamal has an extra day of rest and isn't nearly as bad as the caricature NT created of him. have faith rock. Thanks but I have very little hope tomorrow. Games 1&2 crushed me. But games 3-5 reeled me back only for game 6 to hurt me again. It’s like the curse is toying with my emotions. And now he gets one more chance to do it again. Teams do not lose by 45 and then turn around and win. Losing by ten is one thing. 45 is historic. I’m guessing top ten all time worse loss in nba playoff history? We could have hit every 3 and still lost. I’m just glad it’s all over tomorrow. I can venture a guess that everyone on this site takes nuggets losses/wins with a heavier hand than most other fans of the team. That’s why this site is so intense. When we lose it’s because xyz is totally worthless and always has been. When we win, it’s because we have a generational team and players that should never be doubted. Thing to remember is you started watching the Nuggets because it was fun. At some point, it seems it lost its fun for you because your enjoyment depends so much on the outcome and nothing else. It would suck to lose tomorrow. But it would be a minor tragedy if they won and you didn’t enjoy any moment of watching the actual game until the outcome was decided. In the end, it is a game played by dudes half my age that don’t know I exist. Jokic is my hero…not because of his basketball skills. But because he seems to have an amazing perspective on life. Guy is going to get a good night sleep on Sunday regardless what happens. We should all try to do the same.

But fortunately I’ll get over it eventually. I’ve experienced many rough nuggets seasons and games and all of them are just memories now. After tomorrow I’ll just end up doing the same thing I always do, just avoid anything basketball related for a few weeks until the draft/summer league and the cycle starts all over again.

I believe rock in addition to being a Nugget fan is a Detroit Lion and Pittsburgh Pirate fan, so I can't reasonably believe he follows sports for enjoyment.
but your larger point is obviously correct. I still remember rooting for Carmelo Anthony and Ty Lawson led teams and hoping for a series win. one series. singular. that would've made my summer, so it's hard for me to access my doom chip when I got to experience a championship when the majority of fanbases in the NBA have not had that luxury. everything else is gravy.

It’s all true. When I was a kid the pirates were a good team. Lions were surprisingly solid for many seasons. The nuggets were the up and comin team in the nba. I’ve basically given up on the pirates (Skenes is pretty damn good though) because they’ve shown zero attempts to win and are always out of the playoff hunt by July. Lions seem to be going in the right direction 👍 Unfortunately every team I rooted for just became terrible seemingly at the same time. Sports wise it was brutal for decades.

For me ... once I got to take my mom to a championship-clinching game, that was pretty much the end of sports dooming. My teams could suck forever from now on, but I got to celebrate a championship with my mom. We have a chance to lose to a team that was designed specifically to beat us, in a home game 7 in the second round, in a series where we've had a key player who is hobbled but sounds like he's looking better with an extra day of rest, where whichever team wins will be at worst #2 in championship odds. Or we could advance to the conference finals for the third time in five years. I just can't doom that hard about it.

All the teams I cheer for win championships - Except baseball. I have horrible baseball karma.
Cheered for the Rockies, and then decided to adopt the “angels” once I moved to Orange County.
I’m the black dahlia of baseball fans.

Regarding PDX 2019 -
We lost that game because it started at noon.
I’ve seen our guys out partying multiple times. Even when you don’t party the night before a game, but you do it with regularity, your circadian rythym is now set on a different clock.
Nighttime games always favor our guys.
The fact that game 7 starts at 6 pm already has me quite optimistic.

I've been a hardcore Nuggets fan longer (I think) than anyone else here. They are my one and only favorite team. I told friends at a post-yoga group before last year's run that I care more about the Nuggets than I do about ALL other teams in ALL other sports combined, and that still holds. I started as a Denver Bears fanatic, and as soon as the ABA Rockets started up, I pretty much forgot about baseball, and I was a hardcore who brought a mitt and a scorebook. That first year, in junior high, I interviewed several Denver Rockets, including Walt Piatkowski and Julian Hammond. I am 70, but unlike GBG, who's been around as long, I was always a Denver Rockets/Nuggets fan. (I believe GBG became a fan after moving to the Denver area a couple years later...please correct if my info is wrong, GBG) www.remembertheaba.com/Denver-Rockets.html (THE site for ABA info made by my friend Arthur) I feel there's a good chance we lose tomorrow, and if we do, I'll hopefully go on living. After all, I've survived more Nuggs4Life than anyone here. They used to send me into depression, but not anymore. We also have a good chance to win tomorrow. Last game, a total debacle, nobody could make a shot. If that happens again, we will lose, and it will be time for Cancun (and Sombor) If anyone besides Jokic, AG, and Braun show up, it will be close. If a couple show up, we win and move on to more stress. :-) Minny is far from being a superstar team...yet. If we play focused and professionally and can hit some shots, Minny will fold. I put the odds right now at 50/50. Anything can happen, and personally, I'm ready to PARTY and YELL and SCREAM !!! Anyone else ? (besides the terminably optimistic Duh, who I've known for years. I've also known Rock for decades. Good guy !!!)

Funny stuff ! Yes, I've had the pleasure of hearing that corny song at that link.
I had a girlfriend back in those early McNichols days who got close-up free tickets from her job as a benefit. We weren's much as a couple...the first time we kissed our teeth smashed together and we both thought we'd lost our front teeth..., but she and I loved the Nuggets, so I got to see every home game, and those were the best teams (until now), in franchise history.

The Nuggets were 2 for 19 from three in that PDX game in 2019, with Jokic scoring those two. That won't happen again.

I've been a hardcore Nuggets fan longer (I think) than anyone else here. My mom has been a fan for about as long, but not as hardcore. She talks about listening to the radio when Byron Beck was playing. Her parents were both big sports fans and would watch any sport at all -- I've sat in my grandparents' living room hundreds of Sunday mornings watching football, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, racing, whatever was on. They were more baseball fans (grandma broke her leg being undercut making a play at first base back in the 60s) but they liked the Nuggets well enough. We lost grandpa a few years back and my mom and I got on the jumbotron that night ("should we go to the Nuggets?" "you know he'd want us to go and boo the refs.") I wore the hat I got from him to all of the playoff games last season. We just lost grandma in April; her funeral is on the 28th. Win or lose tomorrow -- we all got to experience a Nuggets championship, and loads more playoff wins and series wins than before, even for the longest-tenured fans.

I just can't see the shame in losing to a very well constructed team in 7 games. I would've felt sick for a while if they lost to LA, but not here. Same will be true if they face a healthy Boston team. The Nuggets aren't the only good team in the NBA. I mean, watching the Wolves completely disembowel the Suns was enough for me to come into this series with tempered expectations. Hate to say it, but they put together a pretty damn good team over there.

the only 'sickness' derives from getting beat by Sandro Mamukelashvili at the end of the regular season which bumped us down to the 2 seed. holding off the Wolves until the WCF would have put the Nuggets in a more advantageous position, considering the Wolves have the stamina to play 94 feet of defense precisely because the Sons did not put up a fight in the first round. OKC would have figuratively beat the s**t out of them for us in a hypothetical second round matchup, but it is what it is. we can still win.

The whole Murray debate is pretty simple for me. He's just inconsistent. He gives you an incredibly high ceiling and a low floor. His floor is far worse than some of the other guards mentioned but his ceiling is basically just as high as anyone's if not higher because we've actually seen him pull it off in the playoffs on the way to a ring. Only argument I could see is that playing with Jokic would give a bigger boost to most players because Murray lives off tough shots. A more athletic guard would probably do better on cuts/plays near the basket created by Jokic and he'd certainly get an increase in open looks. They'd also have to buy into the culture on top of the system which means they'll be setting screens/playing alot off ball and doing alot of stuff that Trae Young or whoever isn't asked to do.
I say you live by the Murray and die by the Murray this season/next atleast. He's earned that. MPJ is interesting as well because his lows are pretty bad as well but the thing about him is even when he's bricking and killing you defenders are terrified of his shot. At his size you can't cheat off him like defenders do with smaller forwards/guards. He's overpaid but exactly what this offense needs when he's on.

The Nuggets were 2 for 19 from three in that PDX game in 2019, with Jokic scoring those two. That won't happen again. I might be wrong, but I think Craig got one also? Cant remember. I do know both of Jokic's threes came in first quarter. And I think lead was 19, not 17. Again, might be wrong on that too. Also, in that game, Blazers also shot like crap. Dame was utter crap, like worst player on the field next to Jamal. They both had horrible games.

Guys I don’t know how you do it. I feel sick thinking about game 7. I wish I didn’t care so much but unfortunately I do. When my other favorite teams play, it’s never even 1% as bad as this is. Losing sucks but it only hurts when the nuggets lose. It’s just sports, right? Like my brain gets it, but the rest of my body doesn’t. The only comfort I find is this same situation played out in 2019. Up 3-2. Lost a second round game 6 on the road. Then lost game 7 at home. And that was to my most hated rival and we blew a 17(?) point lead. Losses rarely get worse than that. And I got over it. It eventually goes away and just becomes an annoying memory. The pain does disappear. Tomorrow is going to really hurt but it’s only temporary. Life goes on. if all you saying is true, there is something very wrong with you. why do you even watch sports? if Nuggets lose tonight, I will sleep for 2-3 hours, then get up and go to work. if Nuggets win tonight, I will sleep for 2-3 hours, then get up and go to work. its not the same, ofc, I will be down if we lose, but my world will not end... and I will watch first game of WCF, regardless of Nuggets result cause I love watching basketball. I am emotionally invested in Nuggets, but its not question of life and death. Im not a kid anymore. When my first girlfriend left me, I spent two days in bathroom crying. But I was 16, and I thought that was it, my only chance for happiness ended just there... two months after that I though I was in love again and world never looked so pretty... but when you are 16, you do tend to exaggerate, its kind of normal. but not when you are grown ass man. newsflash: Nuggets will not win every season! that's not how sports works!!
