A little story from this morning…
Got to the airport this morning and all is normal. Super psyched for getting to denver, soaking up the energy in the city, the parade, everything.
As we are checking in I hear someone panicking : “has anyone seen a passport?!”
Oh that’s not what you want to hear at the airport.
We all start looking around and fortunately for the couple, they found it shortly after in one of the machines.
So happy for them.
Why do I bring this up?
Because not even 5 minutes later, as I check my bag they ask for ID, yeah no problem. I’ve flown 100 times. I know the drill.
I don’t have my ID
where is my ID?!
This isn’t happening. This can’t be happening. Not today. No way.
What’s more terrifying than a game 7, one point game with under ten seconds to go? Not having your freaking ID to get on a flight to a once in a lifetime event. An event you cannot miss.
I will not miss this parade.
I have no idea where it is. My wife and I are both trying to figure out what to do. I start creating backup plans.
“Do we just drive all day to denver? 14 hours. That’s doable, right?”
Rather not drive, so I run and find a taxi and I tell him drive me home. If I can find my ID I can make it back in time. The math works. Barely.
Problem is I have no idea where it could be.
But this taxi driver was awesome. Got me home quicker than I ever have, and now I have maybe ten minutes to find this thing.
First time I ever jumped out a cab and yelled “keep it running!”
I check every room. Every drawer. Every corner. Every table. Everywhere.
Nothing.
And right at minute 9 it hits me. I remember. I f***ing find it. Felt better than a jokic buzzer beater.
Taxi guy again rushes me back and I make it with a few minutes to spare
Most expensive taxi ride I’ve ever had
Totally worth it.

Sounds like something sticky would do, forget his id/passport Actually (real story now) Erik lost it when we went to Denver together and it fell out of his pocket at Pepsi center. So we went there at night and asked a janitor and he found it. I think the next day was our flight back too |

Misplacing an ID and not taking it with you to airport is like something I’d do! Glad you found it and enjoy the parade!

I won't be able to be at the parade, but if anyone in town wants to try to get lunch afterwards somewhere roughly southwest of downtown (minimizes hassle for me with bringing the little guy along) I'm game.
