How is rock doing these days? He's trying to come up with reasons we're doomed, I'm sure

Guy is hitting bottom real fast. Accidentally knocking out a mascot is pretty low on the list of scumbag things he's done, to be honest: -countless reckless driving issues -hopped into the cage during an active fight at a Bellator show, shoved the ref, and slapped the commissioner -threw a moving dolly through a bus window which caused two people to be hospitalized and 3 PPV UFC fights to be canceled/rescheduled -sucker-punched a guy and caused a big melee at UFC 229 -accused of sexual assault in a hotel in December 2018 (criminal case dismissed, civil case pending) -accused of sexual assault in a car in October 2019 (criminal case pending) -attacked a fan and stole and broke his phone for taking his photograph -sucker-punched a senior citizen in a pub for refusing a free shot of his garbage whiskey brand -arrested in September 2020 for alleged sexual assault and indecent exposure, but no charges brought -threw punches at rapper Machine Gun Kelly but didn't land any -attacked an Italian musician and TV presenter in October 2021 (charges pending) -allegedly attacked a 42 year old woman on a boat this January resulting in a broken arm; she withdrew charges later without comment (likely a cash settlement) -countless intentional uses of racism and bigotry to promote fights/goad opponents

yeah, my read on Tim is that he deserves credit for having the right general idea in piecing together the unstoppable two man game of Joker/Murray and drafting MPJ and putting a defensive forward (Millsap, Grant, AG) with that group ... but ... he was more interested in having a swiss army knife player like Barton (when he was healthier) and offensive-minded players like Monte than he was in getting more defenders. He might have signed Bruce, but he wouldn't have signed Bruce *and* traded Monte/Barton for KCP *and* drafted Braun. He might have drafted Jovic and then maybe someone like Caleb Houstan. And with that kind of roster construction, it's probable that the Suns or Lakers would have found better matchups to feast on and we'd be fishing instead of up 3-1 in the finals. Booth deserves a ton of credit for figuring out that the four-man core really needed defensive guards/wings and just loading up. I think its quite likely the Wizards deal (which was reported on June 29, not that long after the end of the season) was put in motion before Connelly left. It was clear last season that Barton was close to washed and definitely wasn’t the perimeter defender the team needed, and there were reports that Morris welcomed a change of scenery because of a concern there wouldn’t be enough enough playing time with Murray back and Bones getting regular point guard PT his rookie season. There is a difference between what the Nuggets needed last season with Murray and Porter out (scoring) and what they expected they’d need this season, and I’m sure Connelly knew that, so it seems entirely speculative to assume this or that in terms of personnel decisions if Connelly had stayed. Most of the Nuggets FO and scouting and analytics staff remained and the top guys don’t operate just off of napkin scribbles. There are 8-10 people in the war room on draft night. The Nuggets FO is a small organization but its still an organization with scouts and cap analysts and all that. They have some FO personnel — including VP of Scouting Jim Clibanoff and Assistant GM Tommy Balcetis — who have been with the team for 10 years or more.

Notes:
1. Wash trade was Calvin’s. TC was working on his Minny contract - Booth was GM before the official date.
2. Booth has a ton of power. Kroenke’s have their list of untouchables (jokic, Murray, AG, MPJ) - after that, it’s Booth’s show. Kroenke’s are busy as f**k with multiple other teams, as well as land development in Denver and LA. It’s Booth’s show in Denver.

All that nonsense led to being embarrassed and used as mop for wiping the floor by the GOAT Khabib.

Not just Khabib. He loses more than he wins now in general. His fights since the start of 2016: L vs Dustin Poirier TKO 1 (broken leg) L vs Dustin Poirier TKO 2 (punches) W vs Donald Cerrone TKO 1 (head kick, punches) (Cerrone loses every big fight of his career in humiliating fashion) L vs Khabib Nurmagomedov SUB 4 (neck crank) L vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. TKO 10 (boxing) (he was never gonna win this fight and Floyd toyed with him, but brain damage is brain damage) W vs Eddie Alvarez TKO 2 (punches) W vs Nate Diaz MD 5 L vs Nate Diaz SUB 2 (rear naked choke)

They have some FO personnel — including VP of Scouting Jim Clibanoff and Assistant GM Tommy Balcetis — who have been with the team for 10 years or more. Yup. Booth was also promoted from within. KCP being a big time culture guy, Barton growing up near Washington so you put him in a great spot, TC has a bunch of different ties to Washington, giving Morris a better chance at playing time etc. I think that's a deal that happens no matter what. I think the Nuggets overall place a huge emphasis on culture/loyalty/being player friendly etc. The Bones situation would have been handled the same no matter what and if something else pops up it'll be handled exactly the same. I've been annoyed with it in the past but was clearly underrated how important stuff like that is big picture. Turns out being "nice" was the smart business call. Early maxes for Murray/MPJ/going after a guy like Gordon who was ok with a reduced role vs paying Grant who clearly wanted more(which is 100% fine). Being very patient with Malone. I'd take the ring no matter what but it is nicer to win that way if you can.

Winning a chip without a team of mercenaries who weren’t homegrown or able to put aside their egos is definitely nicer.

Fellas - who’s doing the Game 5 thread?
My vote is Jimi and Adrianna.
But Ring, Rock and Sticky are great choices.
