Spencer Haywood. Denver's first basketball league-wide star. He was the last player for the good guys who was regularly compared to Wilt Chamberlain. He was also the main reason I started caring about Denver professional basketball.
Mike Evans. Player and coach, including interrim head coach, for years for several administrations.

Not even gonna look game again. I just can't. This is not enjoyable now, its more like, cmon, lets just finish it, then we can talk basketball. Monday game is going to be, by far, biggest game in Nuggets history. And I think this team is ready. Watching interviews after game, there isn't even a glitch of overjoy. They are all focused, and they should stay that way.
Only if they win

game 4 will forever be known as the Aaron Gordon game. the man has cemented his legacy in Nuggets history. salute to him, he did everything "right" since being traded to Denver. IMO, there's nothing greater in sports than a player putting the team before his ego and being rewarded for it. Gordon trade. TC most underrated move. Huge move Also making the theory that TC didnt like versatile defenders absolute dogshit

Bring 'em all to game 5. Every damn former Nugget they can find. Even if they're playing for other teams right now. Alex, Skywalker, Horse, Fat, Calvin, TR, Camby, Dre, Dikembe, Melo, Nene, Kiki, Birdman, Mahmoud, Laphonso, McDyess, Gary, Monte, Simpson, Beck, AI, Gallo, Lawson, Eddie, Boykins, Nate Dogg, Hanzlik, Hastings, Randle, Stith, K-Mart, JR Smiff, Linas, Barton, Chandler, Vo, Manimal. Hell, get Skita on a plane, we love you too ya bum. Rudy Fernandez and Facundo Campazzo can come together on a flight from Spain

yeah, my read on Tim is that he deserves credit for having the right general idea in piecing together the unstoppable two man game of Joker/Murray and drafting MPJ and putting a defensive forward (Millsap, Grant, AG) with that group ... but ... he was more interested in having a swiss army knife player like Barton (when he was healthier) and offensive-minded players like Monte than he was in getting more defenders. He might have signed Bruce, but he wouldn't have signed Bruce *and* traded Monte/Barton for KCP *and* drafted Braun. He might have drafted Jovic and then maybe someone like Caleb Houstan. And with that kind of roster construction, it's probable that the Suns or Lakers would have found better matchups to feast on and we'd be fishing instead of up 3-1 in the finals. Booth deserves a ton of credit for figuring out that the four-man core really needed defensive guards/wings and just loading up.

It's all part of the process. I think the last two playoff failures without Murray also helped paint a picture that just having the Kawhi/Lebron bigger defender was not going to be sufficient. Without point of attack defenders that can capably stay with Booker/Paul or Curry/Poole types, you still didn't have enough around Jokic.
A key component of not skipping steps was learning from frustration and failure. My guess is even Tim knew more defenders was necessary, but my best guess is he wouldn't have been willing to go as far as Booth did.
Also, I'm pretty confident even Bones on his best behavior would be racking up DNPs right now.

I'm grateful for what TC brought us but nobody can deny he collected (or held onto too long) players who couldn't cover a single dude on the court. Bryn Forbes, Markus Howard, Facundo Campazzo, Will Barton, JaMychal Green, Monte Morris, and Bones Hyland on the same squad last year? Every one of them was either too small or too old. You can say he wanted defenders all you want but he didn't go get enough of them. Austin Rivers and Davon Reed were our best perimeter defenders besides Gordon last year and right now Reed isn't on a roster and Rivers isn't in a rotation.

Junior Harrington and Vincent Yarbrough. For real - Junior saved us from setting the most loses record in one season for a franchise. he and Corey Alexander should both be there!

Would be really funny if the FO told us there isn't enough money to resign Bruce - we lose him, and then Tariq Abdul-Wahad is suddenly signed to a near max contract for 3 straight seasons.
(real OG's will find this funny)

My take is the Nuggets don't have a GM who has the final say and they'd likely learn from past mistakes no matter what. They went out and got Grant and they went out and got Gordon pre Booth. It's undersold pretty much everywhere what happens to a roster when you have two max players who are basically a no go due to injury for the amount of time MPJ/Murray missed. That's a death blow. If the Murray/MPJ injuries don't happen I think your looking at a different roster. I also think Jokic/Murray/MPJ get underrated defensively and don't get the credit they deserve. Murray/MPJ have defensive versatility. Jokic has proved this run he has more versatility than alot of C's who are better defensively in the regular season. So right of the bat you had the MPJ/Gordon/Murray/Jokic as your 4 key pieces and starters and adding KCP was a thing of beauty. One I wasn't 100% convinced of for the record because I disliked him for his Laker days lol
Honestly with us on the brink of a championship I see no reason for an agenda/victory lap. s**t doesn't matter at this stage of the game. Booth played a role, TC played a role, Malone(who I've been guilty of attacking in the past) has played a role and will likely be our GOAT coach assuming there isn't a historic choke job. All we know is the Nuggets ownership up until this point doesn't value a GM as the singular reason for success. They let TC flirt with Washington, they didn't wanna give him the big bucks and wanted him to stay and had zero interest in firing him, than they promoted Booth once TC for the 2nd time decided to look elsewhere. I defended TC alot. Defended the Washington s**t. He clearly was looking for something elsewhere and the Nuggets were happy to let it happen but had no interest in firing him. Much like the team on the floor .. seems like a huge group effort that happens regardless. With or without Booth/TC I think the Nuggets brain trust had a plan. I think each season with the failures/injuries/successes it had an impact. I don't think because TC left the Nuggets up and changed there entire draft strategy.
Nuggets as a whole are loyal/player friendly/care about culture. It's been fair to question that in the past and you can't re-write history just because were having success now. We've got burned at times. In the end it turned out to be correct no matter how this thing finishes up. Shout out to Josh/TC/Booth/Malone and whoever else decided that.

(real OG's will find this funny) Since it is almost 100% that Bruce is a goner, I don't think it will be hard to find his replacement in free agency with the MLE or via trade ...the guy might be a ring chaser but a quality 6th man / occasional starter I think we should use the 2023 draft picks to get depth at backup point guard and backup center

We dont know what TC would have done last summer. I get looking for more playmakers/offensive talent after bubble I also get seeing that as a failed attempt and realizing we need to go for more defenders. A LOT of people saw that, and its kinda wild to asmue TC wouldnt or couldnt have seen that. Why asume he is very bad at his job? Like look at what we are watching. And i f***ing love Booth as well! While recognizing TC did a good job here, going for offensive help after bubble was reasonable (to some extent) and that he probably also saw that wasnt it and that defensive versatiliy was the way.
