clearly (imo anyway) James Harden. the timeline matches up with the Nuggets being interested in Harden and doing Tim stuff like sending a PI to investigate his extra-circular activities.

Regarding Jamal trade - that was the deal for Butler.
There’s no universe where TC trades Murray for Jrue - lol. The entire reason Murray came up with jrue is because we offered Garris and 2 firsts. NO countered with mpj and 2 firsts - and then told tc under no circumstance would a trade happen without mpj. Then our FO made the drop-foot issue public (which imo, was heavily exaggerated - if it even exists). No stopped carping about mpj and then demanded Murray. EPILOGUE: a year later no agreed to Garris and 2 firsts - paperwork was literally about to be signed, and then Milwaukee came in an offered more. Months later, one of those firsts and Garris (and Hampton - remember him!) were shipped out for AG.
Our FO didn’t consider Kawhi because it was a short contract. But butler had 2 years left and there was optimism he would resign.
As Malone said - didn’t happen - I love butler but I love Murray more!

Houston’s analytics team wanted mpj with firsts and nothing else. Murray wasn’t discussed for harden, to the best of what I know.

The timeline doesn't add up, this was the 1st year mpj played under his max or was last year the first? I thought he signed it last year but it didn't kick in until this season and harden was in Brooklyn/Philly last year |
