Nikola Jokic has clinched Joel Embiid by such a big margin that we actually gotta talk Jokic vs Wilt Chamberlain now. He just keeps rising the bar and makes all previous comparisons look dumb.
Predraft I was thinking he could be a legit backup center in the NBA if he gets in shape, and Nurk will definitely be a legit starting center. And to go back on all those now ridiculous comparison with guys like Noel, KAT, ... in which he was not overall at the time picked as a better player. Same happened with Embiid, and yet we reached a point where it's not even debatable anymore.
It's crazy to think next conversation is with the absolute all time greats, but here we are...
Oh and props to that poor guy on reddit, who's probably in an asylum right now for claiming way back in the day (like season 2) that Jokic is an all time great player, and spitting out all the analytics.

You might consider a different fan board. He showed up in the 4Q when it mattered which is what I said would need to happen. Murray deserves all the credit in the world. He's been the best player in a series featuring the best player in the world and the GOAT/2nd GOAT Murray's been awsome but not the best player in the series. Jokic was a better player in game 1 and they split game 2 and 3. In game 2 Jokic was carring the team thru 3Q when Murray was dread awful and then Murray took over in the 4th. Opposite thing happened in game 3. Worth noting that Jokic is playing against the best defensive player in all nba, and Murray has the easiest matchup he'll ever see in PO's. I am not taking any credit from Murray though as he's been way better than I expected him to be. Just awesome

you can argue who has been the better player, but what's not up for debate is from the second half of G2 to the first half of G3, Jamal Murray absolutely ripped the Lakers heart out and prevented what was probably going to be a 6-7 game slugfest into a sweep or gentlemans sweep.
ironically, the closest duo that approaches the Murray/Joker dynamic is the Kobe/Shaq Lakers. Shaq dominating was the foundation, but when Kobe would go crazy, the other team would fold.

He had 3Q's where he played better than in the bubble and scored 53 points in those 3Q's. Absolutely took heart from Lakers players. I keep saying, our destiny is in Murray's hands not in Jokic hands. When Murray is playing like this nobody can beat us

I really hope all the people (myself included) can agree and eat some crow on Malone. I genuinely don't think I've ever seen a guy have a more flawless playoff run than Malone is having right now. He takes Jokic out with 4 fouls and the game in the balance. Nuggets somehow survive and only lose that 7 minute stretch by 1. He closes with Bruce and Jeff over KCP and AG, while KCP just came off an incredible 3Q. He sticks with MPJ even though he had some really bad defensive lapses. Every button the guy is pushing is working. It's nuts. Malone deserves this just as much as the players. He's been here from the start. He's been through all the injuries, all the heartbreak. Bingo. Malone has done a great job. They’ve been incredibly lucky to stay healthy and not need to go deeper into what is a very shallow bench.

Foster tried everything he could to will his team to victory.
scooter, do you care to revise your position that glamour markets do not receive preferential treatment from the refs?

Between that, jokic phantom 4th foul, Schroeder blatant to travel in front of foster and jamal get hacked all night long, it’s clear what the nba wanted

Foster tried everything he could to will his team to victory. scooter, do you care to revise your position that glamour markets do not receive preferential treatment from the refs? I’ll definitely admit that I thought the Nuggets kinda got screwed by the refs in the last two games. But realistically, that amounts to 4-5 judgment calls per game with which I wasn’t happy. 10 or so calls over two games isn’t a big enough sample size for me to draw sweeping conclusions about “glamour markets vs. smaller markets.” Sorry if you think I’m just being stubborn, but that’s how I view it. I have a scientific background and as pissed off as I was at times during these two games, it just doesn’t rise in any way to any real level of proof. Refs are human and I certainly think its possible they are swayed a bit (and I mean a bit) by familiarity with veteran and star players and veteran star players. On the Nuggets, I do see veterans like KCP and Green and Jordan having a lot of conversations with refs with whom they’ve been working (that’s what it is) for many years. They know each other. In most cases, they respect each other. They have a workplace relationship. If an NBA star player has also treated a ref with respect over the years, I think that star player may be able to get himself or his team just a little edge on the occasional margin call. If I’m going to operate on hunches (since none of us has conducted any scientific studies), that’s much more my hunch than Scott Foster or Bill Kennedy or [fill in the blank] are going to make bad calls to favor a team from LA or NY or SF to help the league or its media partners make more money. (Did the Knicks get favorable officiating treatment in the playoffs this year?). And if there is anything to the “star player who has fostered a decent relationship with veteran officials” theory, the Nuggets are going to operate at a disadvantage because: 1) we have only 1 star player, 2) English is a second language for him, 3) I have a feeling that working refs is not part of basketball culture in Serbia, 4) Jokic still doesn’t love a lot of things about NBA culture and there is a limit to how much non-playing effort he wants to expend, 5) Jokic had a very testy relationship with refs for the first 4-5 years of his career, and only in the last couple of years has he gotten better at communicating respectfully with them. Asking this question today — on the heels of two games in which Nuggets fans are annoyed — also seems extremely recency bias oriented. Bottom line is I wasn’t happy with the officiating the last two games, but that’s not nearly enough for me to draw sweeping conclusions that “glamour” markets (and a lot of small markets — including ones without NBA teams — have the best TV ratings for national TV games) reliably benefit from biased officiating.
