...I guess that i should stop this BS before it goes in the direction that has nothing to do with the reality... And the reality is simple. It's called "Insurance policy". Money. Insurance policy coverage for NBA players that are under contract playing for their national teams is way to big for their national basketball associations to cover entirely. Especially if a player is on a max contract and considered a "face of the franchise". I am not willing to go into details on how much % of the players salary goes into calculation but trust me for small nation such as Serbia and our association, it's enormous amount of money. Unless the club and the player himself are not willing to participate and cover the certain amount of insurance there is no way to cover it. Before any of my fellow Serbians jump on me for "defending" Jokic (I am not), and give me the Bogdanovic example or Stojakovic/Divac back in the days...you cant compare those players salary/insurance at that time compared to Jokic. Freakns gave Gasol example. Brother, please do not compare Spanish Basketball Federation to ours, it's like comparing Mercedes to Yugo. And trust me, if it's up to Jokic only and no other BS is involved, he would be the first one in national training camp. Money is what makes this world spins and sadly our country is simply not able to cover that enormous amount for our standards. Jokic as individual alone is also not crazy to give quite big part of his yearly salary by himself and it's understandable why Denver Nuggets are not willing to cover/participate (Injury risk). It is what it is. I am sad and disappointed (but mostly in our Government and Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia) that he will not play for our national team at Olympics, but to say f**k him or put all the blame on him is utter BS. Do your research on the matter before reacting like a spoiled child. i don't think you are correct. we already payed big buck for hosting qualifying tournament. if it turns out we couldn't/wouldn't cover Jokic insurance policy, Danilovic is done right that second. we cant compare with Spain or France, but we can with Slovenia(you know how much money they are putting in basketball, Olimpija exists only because Cedevita merge with them), and Luka is there. Luca is not a MVP and he doesn't make 30 millions next season. The insurance premium is much much smaller as it should be.

freakns Are you familiar with our yearly budget in Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia? Are you familiar with our yearly budget in Basketball Federation of Serbia? I am. I am not willing to go deep in the numbers but what if i tell you that Insurance policy to cover Jokic entirely by our association would be something like 40-50% of our yearly budget? Would that be enough for you to understand WHY it needs to have both Jokic himself and the club he plays for participating in covering that insurance (and not by a small amount)? Like i said, i am dissapointed as much as you and every other Serb is, but unlike you or others i am not blaming him 100% for that because it's unfair to ask from Jokic to cover like 85% of that by himself. I am more dissapointed at our government for not recognizing the importance of MVP of the NBA to represent our country at Olympics and providing the necessary amount of money required. Maybe i can say that i am a bit dissapointed in Kroenke family as well, but i understand their PoV, they want their main resource of income and relevancy to be healthy and ready for the next season in order to cash in even more on his MVP. If you are searching for a scapegoat, it's not Danilovic you should aim at, it's Udovicic and Vucic.

He hasn't seen his horses since last November. People just need to back off here.

I'm on the Jokic deserves at least 1 Serbian teammate on the Nuggets bandwagon. Cancar is Slovenian and we don't need him.
Boban Marjanovic, Nemanja Bjelica or someone else...get it done, TC

Cancar showed he’s a useful extra forward late in season when he got some PT, and is a good teammate and friend of Jokic’s.
I can’t believe you recommended two roster spots for backup C, Boban and Hernangomez (or Noel or RoLo). FO won’t use two spots for C’s, lol.

It would have been great to have had Boban, but now he turns 33 in August and likely doesn’t have much time left as an NBA player. The Nuggets still do need a playable backup C. The Nuggets need to start having a little Jokic load management ability, so they need a playable backup C (in addition to Green, who I hope stays and can play backup C some of the time). Some guys who come to mind and presumably will be available for workable money include Dieng, Willy H., Kaminsky, Kornet, maybe Theis. A lot of us have mentioned Noel in the past, and he might be good, but I have a sense there might be fit/intangible concerns (although I really have no info). What they need might depend some on whether Green is back. I assume the Nuggets will be making some kind of decision on Bol.

Right before Nugs first Joker-era playoff, the talking head on ESPN wondered if Joker would be able to "stay on the court." She obviously had no clue but kinda hot - anyone catch else can that on the idiot box?

It was a former WNBA star. She thought his defense was too weak and he could not handle heavy minutes. I hope I can find the clip sometime and sent it to her and all here

Chris Mannix voted for Joel Embiid for MVP.
Since he's the single dumbest man in the entire sports media landscape, I take this as a confirmation that Jokic will win the award.
Hard to believe he even has time to vote for NBA MVP in between posting the worst boxing takes anyone has ever come up with all day, every day.
