If you say so, it must be true It was you who said so just now. If Facu was on another team, you’d be a fan of another team, not the Nuggets. First time that I would love to see Facu Camp on another team then. Facu - take nuggethipster with you too - lol.

I fwiw have no problems with Serbian fans being Nuggets fans (same with Argentinian for Facu) because of the player because why the f**k would they support the Nuggets otherwise

I’m simply against posters who are, without explanation, insulting and petulant towards others.

I hope this isn’t the case, but between our cap bloating due to Jokic’s upcoming supermax and MPJ’s max.... I think jokic knows that next season, at age 27, could be his best shot at the finals. I feel bad for Serbian fans. But the nba title is a bigger deal. Not to mention - the Olympics is a god-awful corrupt organization. Jokic will play for Serbia in the bball world championships in a year or two, which is a bigger tourney than the Olympics. All will be well. for you NBA title is bigger deal. for most people, not in Serbia, but in world, Olympics are bigger deal. I understand that most ppl here dont give a f**k about USA national team, and thats OK. thing is, its just different in Europe. not in Serbia, but Europe. Luka is already in Slovenia training with national team. Pau has missed one WC in 20 years. OG and EC, always played for Spain. Toni Parker always played for France. Bogdan Bogdanovic will play for Serbia if we qualify. Jokic's father already gave statement that ppl will understand when hear whole truth(dont know what he meant, maybe Jokic has some lingering issue, maybe there is injury we don't know about, dunno, and dont wanna speculate). so he already knows whats going to happen. and Jokic loves it here. not only because its his homeplace, but because there is no media to bother him, he can walk in any bar, have drink with his friends, no one would bother him. there will be no fans jumping and screaming, oooooo theres Nikola, OMG, OMG, OMG... also, this is a guy who cried when people in Sombor gather to congratulate him on winning silver medal in Olympics. now, you can correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't notice he cried when received award and whole arena chant MVP... also, calling Olympics god-awful corrupt organization after we all heard Tim Donaghy testimony? well, it takes balls, I'll give you that. and just to make one thing clear, again, cause I guess there are people not understanding. Jokic doesn't owe anyone anything. he has all the right in the world to make which ever decision he find it best for him and his future. now, I might be wrong here too, but looks to me like whole city of Denver and Nuggets fans were not so full of understanding when Melo decided that his best chance for title are Knicks, best for his future was to go to NY, and while you felt bad as Nuggets fans, you all whish him luck and support and understand his decision. what? no? its different? yeah, thought so... btw, i still love Nikola... and Melo too. a Cuse and Nuggets fan, I will always love Melo. and I will tell him to go and stick his Knicks jersey right up into his ass.

Hence, follow the player first and the team secondary. I grew up in an NBA-less market myself as a kid and was a fan of the league, players, and multiple teams since I had no local team to follow. I only root for the Nuggets because I lived in Colorado for nearly a decade. Had I moved to LA, San Antonio, Portland, or any state or city with NBA coverage I suppose I'd have adopted that team to root for. If Jokic ever plays for a different NBA squad, I'd fully expect most Serbian fans to lose interest in the Nuggets and follow Jokic to his next team; I'd not have any issues with this. It's a global world made smaller by technology and fandom has taken on many forms aside from just developing loyalty to root for the local team.

I get Serbians be disappointed with no Jokic in the Olympics, but I'm a bit surprised with the "f**k Jokic" sentiment. Just venting or writing the guy off?

Jokic has done so much to put Serbia on the map for Americans. Is nationalism so strong that even if their favorite son goes overseas to the best league in the world and wins MVP that he is still to serve the nation in a cause? Must be a cultural thing, where nation comes ahead of the individual. I’d think Jokic has earned some time off to get his body right and spend more time with his newlywed wife and family. If that means Olympic team will have to wait to four years later for him to be with the team, I think he’s earned that. Saying “f**k you” to Jokic seems like a very harsh way to treat a man who represents his nation with class and dignity. Djokovic and Jokic give me a very good impression of Serbia.

It's disappointment. Literally a month ago Jokic said something like "Serbs do not sit out" before the game against the Blazers, only to sit out when his people expected him to play for the country.
Our best basketball players always said that the national team is more important than any personal award and team title and they always played. Jokic is different and we don't like that.

bottom line, Jokic desperately needs rest. unless you want him to follow the career trajectory of Yao Ming, you should be happy he's letting his body recover.

As for NT
If I was Jokic, I would never play for Serbia again. They made him 2nd option after f***ing Bircevic at the last WC to prove some point. He had to play PF and could't touch the ball because Bogdanovic is clearly their guy. Why waste time?
Also who the f**k play 2020 Olympics in 2021?

Hard to questionate. But it will have a cost, since Olympic Games is a "tournament for casual fans" and Jokic will loss a bit of popularity between the serbians. Maybe he will use this decision to put more pressure in our FO in the future.

...I guess that i should stop this BS before it goes in the direction that has nothing to do with the reality...
And the reality is simple. It's called "Insurance policy". Money. Insurance policy coverage for NBA players that are under contract playing for their national teams is way to big for their national basketball associations to cover entirely. Especially if a player is on a max contract and considered a "face of the franchise". I am not willing to go into details on how much % of the players salary goes into calculation but trust me for small nation such as Serbia and our association, it's enormous amount of money. Unless the club and the player himself are not willing to participate and cover the certain amount of insurance there is no way to cover it.
Before any of my fellow Serbians jump on me for "defending" Jokic (I am not), and give me the Bogdanovic example or Stojakovic/Divac back in the days...you cant compare those players salary/insurance at that time compared to Jokic. Freakns gave Gasol example. Brother, please do not compare Spanish Basketball Federation to ours, it's like comparing Mercedes to Yugo.
And trust me, if it's up to Jokic only and no other BS is involved, he would be the first one in national training camp. Money is what makes this world spins and sadly our country is simply not able to cover that enormous amount for our standards. Jokic as individual alone is also not crazy to give quite big part of his yearly salary by himself and it's understandable why Denver Nuggets are not willing to cover/participate (Injury risk).
It is what it is. I am sad and disappointed (but mostly in our Government and Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia) that he will not play for our national team at Olympics, but to say f**k him or put all the blame on him is utter BS. Do your research on the matter before reacting like a spoiled child.

I get Serbians be disappointed with no Jokic in the Olympics, but I'm a bit surprised with the "f**k Jokic" sentiment. Just venting or writing the guy off? thats how we react. I dont want to see him now, I dont want to hear him, I dont f***ing care what he does(yeah, I know this is Nuggets forum). when next season starts, I will cheer for Nikola with all my heart, and when next offseason starts I'll hope he will come and play for Serbia. but right now, this is huge disappointment. Serbia doesn't have huge pool of players like USA, so he will be missed big time. our first 5 should've been Micic(Euroleague MVP), Bogdanovic(Bogdan, not Bojan. Bojan plays for Croatia), Kalinic, Bjelica, Jokic. our second unit should be Teodosic, Nedovic, Lucic, ?, Milutinov(best center in Euroleague). Milutinov hasn't played since January, cause of injury, so he is also most likely off. at center position we are left with Boban, Petrusev(21yr old kid) and Raduljica(33 yr old, playing in China last 5 yrs). there are no real replacements for other players too. when you look at top 10 players, Serbia is clearly second strongest basketball nation in the world. when you look at quality of 11th to 20th, Serbia is closer to 50th best then 2nd best. and we care a lot, cause during OG, we are watching basketball, volleyball, waterpollo and Djokovic, cause we suck ass at everything else

jimi became a Nuggets fan because of Eduardo Najera. flo was a Nuggets fan until Joffrey Lauvergne and Yakhouba Diawara left. I became a Nuggets fan because of Isaiah Hartenstein. Erik became a BVB fan because of Erling Haaland. rock became a Nuggets fan because he loves pain. it is what it is. Erling Haaland is supposed to replace Messi and CR7 as the best footballer in the world...lets see if he is up to the challenge i dont see him being that good but better than Harry Kane
