Missing the Denver game 5 times in 6 years is intentional. Embiid wants the head to head stats to be in his favor so he only plays home games against Jokic. The guy is obsessed. Maybe he doesnt enjoy playing in altitude? Maybe it has negative affects on his body Seems like you want to project some insecurity onto Embiid when different motivation is possible

I agree with this way more than the Embiid ducked narrative. Even tho for me the thing that separate them is their actual abilities when playing basketball. I agree that Jokic is simply the better player. If both of them had played 100% of the games at their current averages, I still think Jokic has a far better case. It's really not close, and the only reason the media is pretending it is close is because they enjoy the narrative. But missing that many games should disqualify you regardless of the on-court. He is a close or a few missed games over what should be «allowed»

He's been openly campaigning to win the award for three solid years. Every time he's asked about it he takes pot shots at Jokic or complains about how he's viewed and he pouts every time he loses it. I've been watching basketball my entire life and I've never seen a player so obsessed with winning an individual award.

Maybe he doesnt enjoy playing in altitude? I think this is absolutely true. Embiid is huge — I’m sure he weighs more than 300 pounds — and since I don’t think his aerobic fitness has ever been great, I’m sure altitude is a problem for him.

BTW, with all of the endless discussion of the MVP vote, why does it seem like no commentators discuss intangibles. Isn’t this about “Most Valuable Player” and don’t intangibles enter into that?
Now, I’m not arguing that Embiid hasn’t been very very valuable for the 76ers. He’s a fantastic player. But doesn’t it seem likely some teammates have been annoyed by his constant politicking for an individual award?

Embiid is winning MVP. It is what it is at this point. He has the narrative/media behind him and Jokic is going to finish 3rd on more ballots which will ultimately be the difference.

Embiid was the narrative pick last year too, and jokic won in a landslide. Embiid’s agents know they’ve lost the mvp and they’re calling in favors now to change the narrative, in a desperate attempt for the win. Embiid’s goal isn’t to win a championship. He wants to go into tech and private equity, at some point. Nothing matters more to him than being able to walk into board rooms, with the title “nba mvp.” Compared to Jokic, who is doing it for the human struggle of achieving greatness - as well as Serbia, Eastern Europe and Colorado. Shockingly - by doing it with altruistic intent on the quest for greatness, Jokic will be the one that private equity eventually begs to do business with.

Why? Jokic hammered Bucks and beat Giannis in the only meeting and the coward ducked the game to avoid humiliation that Bucks faced. Since we dont know for sure its more likely he just had a very minor injury or preferred to sit out because of other reasons rather than because he was scared That's exactly what Philly media and fans are saying and nobody else

It'll be interesting tomorrow when kia mvp comes out with latest rankings. Jokic lost the lead because of Nuggets losing some games andPhilly lost 3 out of 4 last week and Nuggets went 4 of 4. No way Embiid is leading the race tomorrow. Unless everything is rigged

Embiid was in 1st and that is before he has marquee games against Boston/Milwaukee. They'll win at least one of those and that'll slam the door shut.

More than half of straw poll voters are not the actual voters so that tells you nothing. If one of the 2 pulled significantly ahead then you could predict something but this way no. Jokic needs to win this evening and tomorrow he'll take the lead

Because maybe he really wants it and doesnt hide it if he is asked. I dont see the problem if that is the case You have also never had a player rival your favorite player for the most valuable award. Its as likely you struggle with clouded judgement than Embiid being ridicilously insecure.. see how i dont pretend either is certain?

Who cares what media and fans is saying lmao. There can be MULTIPLE reasons and Nuggets fans just happen to declare the one where Embiid looks worst as the correct one

How will Jokic ducking the pels and throwing the 1st seed affect MVP voting? Lmao Meaningless game for mvp vote at the moment but this loss can play a big part down the road. Resting Jokic last night and playing him tonight to try to get one win is just stupid. This tells you what Malone has in his head
