Jokic, as great as he is, still is underrated by national media, especially those in the east. If he loses to Embiid, I highly doubt that “reverse racism” (anti-white) would have anything to do with it. Jokic plays in a smallish market, has a “boring” unathletic style, and voters lazily have fatigue and are susceptible to narratives. That’s all it is.

I wouldn't call it an anti-white bias. Luka gets much the same treatment as Embiid.
It's because Dallas and Philly are huge markets while Denver is a midsize market and Milwaukee is tiny.

How is it "reverse racism" when the NBA is 85% (or more) black?
I disagree that Jokic is underrated by the national media. He has won 2 straight MVPs. Off topic, when I wore my Jokic jersey to trips on the East Coast -- people on the street (and in the places like grocery stores) were saying to me such as things as "MVP" and "Go Nuggets"

The fact that people even think it's close this year or was close last year just goes to show that Jokic is, indeed, still quite underrated.
The advanced metrics put his last few seasons up there with the very best regular seasons that guys like LeBron and Jordan ever put up. This is the Nikola Jokic era of basketball and when we look back in 10 years it's going to seem silly if anyone but Jokic wins this year, like Rose winning it over LeBron in 2011 simply because people were sick of LeBron.

In fairness to Rose, he may have won it again if he hadn’t torn his knee up a couple times.

But by any measure LeBron had a better year that year and LeBron was always going to be better than any version of Rose, healthy or injured.

Nuggets with Jokic this season: 47-19 (.712) Nuggets without Jokic this season: 3-5 (.375)
76ers with Embiid this season: 40-21 (.656) 76ers without Embiid this season: 9-4 (.692)
Updated after the Nugs blew out the Bucks and the Suns blew out the Sixers.

The key to the MVP award will be if Embiid plays in the next game AFTER tonight’s Nuggets game. If he does, national media narrative may change to the notion that Embiid intentionally dodged his matchup against Jokic to preserve his MVP chances. That narrative could be enough to swing the MVP frontrunner status back to Jokic. DraftKings odds already have narrowed this morning, with Jokic being +135 and Embiid -130. Over the weekend, Embiid was -180 And Jokic +180.
It was always Jokic.

It's super easy to believe he's injured because he's always injured.
But that's obviously not why he's sitting tonight. He could have easily sat one night of the back to back if that's what he wanted.

If they want to sabotage Jokic for whatever reason the award will go to Giannis not to Embiid

If they want to sabotage Jokic for whatever reason the award will go to Giannis not to Embiid Giannis has already missed 15 games and will likely miss more. That's just plain too many. This is Jokic's award. You can't be the MVP as a part time player.
