 The best to ever do it, gone at 93 years old. Truly one of the most iconic Americans in history. Sorry I’m late to this. But I’ve been shedding a few tears at the loss of my childhood idol. I have so many Willie Mays stories, having grown up in the 1960’s and early 70’s in the Bay Area. In 1964, at age 10, my family was eating a Sunday morning breakfast at a SF restaurant with my grandmother. Unbeknownst to me, she spotted Mays dining at a nearby table, went over and asked him to come to our’s, which he did. I was eating fried eggs. Mays shook my hand put one of his giant hands on my shoulder and said “keep eating those fried eggs and you’ll grow up to be big and strong like me”. I was awestruck. Didn’t want to wash my hands or shower for days. When my parents took me and my brothers to Giants games for years after that at Candlestick Park, Mays always seemed to hit a home run. In every game. I would say to my mom, “Mays must know I’m here and wants to hit a homer for me”. I’m not sure I didn’t really believe it, but that’s how I felt. Willie Mays died on 6/18/24. 6+18 = 24. He was 93. 9 innings to a game, 9 players on the field, 3 strikes you’re out, 3 outs to an inning. Mays was almost supernatural. |

Great player and great person.
He will be remembered for many great moments, but the "basket catch"...which he did on other occasions besides this one...magnifique !!!

Andrew Cogliano has retired from the Avalanche as a player and is moving into a front office role with the Avs and their AHL affiliate the Eagles.
One of the best dudes in hockey and a true warhorse of a human being. Crazy mofo broke his neck and then went BACK INTO A HOCKEY GAME AND KEPT PLAYING

absolutely massive the Oil were able to rest McDavid for the last one. a luxury unavailable to the Nuggets, to put it lightly.

Zero argument for MacKinnon over McDavid but it'll be hilarious watching him finish with more cups.
Brutal loss for the Oilers. Got the ideal path and were comically close to pulling off the historic comeback. McDavid will never forget those 2 pointless games lol
