Sad story involving Jontay Porter, who looked like a legit talent when the Nuggets played the Raptors this season and having been banned for illegal gambling by the NBA, is now cooperating with federal investigators into a sports gambling ring. According to a federal government lawyer quoted here, Porter has a gambling addiction and was used by some very shady people.

hopefully JP's case will be the impetus that ends the glamorization and proliferation of gambling in not just professional sports, but all entertainment. you have megastars like Drake that are not content with signing 400m record deals and become gambling mascots for shady gambling sites like Stake.com

A week ago, Nene drew a suspension by head-butting Amundson and bumping official Bill Spooner after he ejected Nene with a Flagrant Foul 2 call for elbowing Amundson to the ground.

Would require a massive re-set. In 1970, the US federal government passed a law banning tobacco commercials on TV. It would take something at that level. Commercial enterprises can’t/won’t voluntarily walk away from that kind of money.

Bob was unreal. one of the best goalie performances I've ever witnessed.

Outlaws got their first PLL win yesterday in a thriller. Trailed 7-1 at the end of the first quarter and trailed by 7 in the 4th. But 19 year old rookie 1st overall draft pick Brennan O'Neill went for 9 points (7 goals, 1 two point goal, 1 assist) including 6 in the 4th quarter to tie it and then iced the game in OT with the sudden death winner. And he did it against the defending champion Utah Archers. Final score 18-17 in OT.

They're now 1-1 on the year rolling into a bye week. The Outlaws have never had a losing season so hopefully the new iteration can keep that tradition alive.

This is specifically why the Kroenke family started targeting “high character” men, imo. These things happen a lot in pro sports. Johntay got caught because as an unknown player, no one was placing bets on his activity - not the same for a star player.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if such fraud is what ended the 2009 championship run.

Edmonton isn't a sweltering abomination that is a testimony to the hubris of man.

if your dream in life is to party like Drake, Edmonton is not your place. but if you're hipster adjacent and enjoy the outdoors, it's a cool place to live. the fact it's next door to the most breathtaking corner of the planet, Jasper National Park, is enough for me.

Hey, I went to grad school at ASU, and Tempe/Scottsdale are nice towns, as is Fountain Hills. Phoenix is a pit, though.
