As a Deadhead, I got to hang with Bill Walton at Red Rocks during Dead shows. He went to most shows when Jerry was alive.
Walton was my first NBA hero, and I watched lots of UCLA Wooden games. A real loss.

The only time I wasn't thrilled was when the Blazers beat the Nuggets in the playoffs the year they won the championship (78?)

The concern is, again, access to the venue for families and impact of that extra traffic on the neighborhood for 20+ dates per year. DU hockey traffic is bad enough but the venue holds more for basketball and if they sold it out without any on-campus people that's probably more than double the amount of traffic impact and parking. If you lived near the venue you'd absolutely hate it on game nights. No couple with two kids under 5 wants to park 15 minutes away and walk. Nobody who brings grandma to the game wants to take the lightrail and pack into those sardine cans with 500 people and then walk to the venue. A WNBA team will still be competing for market attention with the Rockies, Rapids, Outlaws, and in most years Nuggets/Avs/Mammoth playoffs at the start of the season. If you make it a pain in the ass to park your car at the venue, families will go watch the Rockies lose instead. Many family take the light rail or walk at ball arena unless u want to pay $60 plus for close in parking , 3000 more cars t in that area not going that much an impact on traffic,, if that their main concern that's dumb , the arena I bet needs major up dates ,, like locker rooms , etc. and where is this team going to train at . Taking the light rail to Ball Arena is one of the worst experiences you could possibly have. Nobody with any other option would ever do that on purpose. Trains are ridiculously crowded, platforms are ridiculously crowded, takes for god damn ever. And again, the Nuggets and Avalanche are destination teams. People will put up with a lot more to see them than they would a WNBA, NLL, AHL, G-League, or other similar level operation.

Great stuff.
By FAR the craziest concert I ever saw was the Dead at Folsom Field in 1972.
During a break, thousands of lids of pot were tossed into the audience from the stage. Each baggie had a roach clip and a note, "Courtesy of Boulder drug dealers".
At another point it rained...poured actually..."through the cool Colorado rain". Half the audience stripped off all their clothes. The rain stopped and more stripped. I remember going to get a coke and seeing fifty to a hundred naked coeds going the other way past me. I have never seen such a beautiful sight, and the odds are I never will again unless there's really a heaven.
The Dead came back and played for more hours. From the timelines I have read, Walton was at this show, but I didn't see him until the three nights of Red Rocks in'78, when he was at all of them.

Whatever parking is not a top 5 issue, they thought they could get kse to give in and get a good deal at ball arena. DU never was a choice , if it was they built a nice training facility for the team on campus and if they needed parking built a garage. Either way I don't care if we get a team

My mom lives next to a rail stop, the W line is rarely crowded, and it's considerably faster than waiting in traffic after a game.

I don't get it?
Denver spent billions on a light-rail system so.... no one would take it?

For the past 10 years I've exclusively used the light rail anytime I've gone downtown, and especially for games. Right now I live about a 3 minute walk from the Central Park station off the A line, so it makes it even more convenient. But before that I would still drive to a station and take it, rather than drive to the arena and deal with traffic and all the bullshit with parking down there. Higher frequency would be nice, but once I'm on the train its 13 min to get to Union Station and from there less than a 10 minute walk to Ball or to Coors, or pretty much anywhere I'd go down there. It also costs like $3 compared to $15-20 or whatever the cheaper parking rates are, which then still require a 10 min walk to actually get to the arena. Then I can spend that money on some drinks at the game and not have to worry.
The worst sports experience to me is leaving a stadium parking lot after a game. Some are better than others, but for instance the one time I went to a Broncos game at Arrowhead in KC it took over an hour just to get out of the parking lot after the game, and there is no alternative. Denver's rail system is far from perfect, but it's still incredibly useful and way more convenient for me and where I live than driving downtown and parking.

Pre-covid and pre-Parkinsons I rode lightrail almost every day, often bringing my bike on and continuing. I rode it to work in Aurora, home to the Yale station, and to all sporting events.
I haven't been on it since covid, but it's a great option. I was prepared to ride it to Union Station for the Nuggets parade, but decided to watch it at home instead.

Another one bites the dust. Keyboardist/Singer for Iron Butterfly. Doug Ingle = 78 Arguably the greatest drum solo in rock music history. (Not technically the best, but THE drum solo thru all of rock music)

that song is so iconic that Nas sampled it twice on "Hip Hip is Dead" and (my personal favourite) "Theif's Theme". great music lives on, even if people aren't aware.

One of the founding bands of the heavy metal genre alongside the British Unholy Trinity (Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin) and Steppenwolf.
There were other bands that played metal songs first (most notably The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix) but Iron Butterfly was one of the original bands to play heavy metal full time.

WNBA attendance is up 40% over last year so far. It's not just for Caitlin Clark games, which is a good sign that it might be sustainable.
"Season ticket" prices for the return of the Denver Outlaws are absolutely outrageous. Since the league is still on a touring only model the whole league plays in a single different market every weekend, with the "home" team playing both days. So the Outlaws have an August 9 game and and August 10 game, but both are double headers paired with games between two out of market teams. And you're essentially paying for all four games, even if you only want to watch the two game involving our home team.
The cheapest "weekend pass" available is $125.00 per seat. That's $62.50 per day, or $31.50 per game (including, again, teams that are not the Outlaws). By comparison, my season seats for the Mammoth this year were 17 bucks per seat per game and they didn't charge me to watch any dumbass games between two road teams.
Hopefully this touring model goes away next season. Kroenke should buy the Outlaws and put them at the soccer stadium.
