So the Lakers got LUCKY to win game 1 AT HOME because of a few mistakes and bad free throw % by us (which won't happen again), and all of the sudden LA thinks they are in control?!?! Someone tell me how that makes sense. And someone tell me why it's time for us to worry. Like the post a few above mine said, I think this makes us come out angrier and hungrier, and I think we win game 2, and let's be realistic, winning 1 of the first 2 games in LA would be considered a huge victory. So while this game should have been that 1 that we did win, let's not overexaggerate this victory for the Lakers. Billups is going to have a game and a half in Game 2.... I guarantee that!!

Have to love this
Denver Post:
"I wish we could rewind the game a little bit and at the end I wish he could have gotten his hands on a few more balls on the last few possessions because he was going so good," Nuggets guard Chauncey Billups said.
Added guard J.R. Smith: "I think we got to do a better job as a team of getting him the ball at the end of the game. I think that should be more of an emphasis. We just got to learn from our experiences."
Really? We need to get Melo the ball, more? It took a loss in the WCF to get that in your head's? We missed our one chance to sneak up on them. I still can't believe we let it slip away.

Hello everybody, I am a Nuggets fan from Greece.
Tough loss today, but we showed we can more than match them IMO. I saw Kenyon Martin getting injured by something that looked to me like a foul from Kobe. Does anybody have a video on this?
I only saw it twice on the internet live at that time and can't be sure, but from what I saw, it did seem intentional and he should be sent off. I tried in youtube and nba.com but couldn't find anything. Does anybody have a link to this video?
FWIW, I too think it is hard for Melo to be as effective as he was, but others players could well step up and give us the wins we need, provided he still plays not significantly worse than he did today. I am confident we still have the most valuable player of this series by far in Chanceu, can't wait for Thursday. Last but not least, this is the Conference Finals, if they can't get over how they lost today, then they didn't have it in them to win the series anyway. Tough losses can come anytime in a 7 game series, especially in the finals and away to the fakers. Taking the tough loss now, instead of -just to give an example- in game 6 after you were 3-1 up, might be a blessing in disguise.

It just occured to me that Melo had 30 by the 7:01 mark in the 3rd. At that time, he's 11-15. He took 5 shots, since...

he just thought melo would bail him out...like that game 3 where he left terry wide open in the corner and allowed dallas to go up 4. You have to get him the ball to do that???

Miss 11 FTs, turn the ball over 15 times, get outrebounded by 9 and give up 17 offensive rebounds... you don't deserve to win the game.
Melo was great, Kenyon was good, Billups was good, Andersen did his job... pretty much everyone else had a bad-to-horrible game.
Put all those things together, and this loss feels like Game 3 in New Orleans, and Game 4 in Dallas. Games in which we really didn't play well, but had a chance to win at the end.
We definitely let one get away here, but I certainly don't think it's the end of the world. Make FTs and we win, get a couple more rebounds and we win, take care of the ball and we win. We have a lot of room for improvement, but I'm not really sure where LA improves. We shot better than we usually do, and LA shot worse than they ususally do... I think that's about it.

They can't match our toughness and I think given their schedule the last few days-- the mental and physical stress of us and Houston-- will give us a chance to pull it out late in the series. But we have to get it there obviously. I think we will bounce back and play even harder Thursday.

Ruru, we shot 48% to 41% and loss. You think we're going to win 3 in a row after we just lost a game in which we were flatout amazing? Everyone didn't play well, but we still shot 48%. You can't expect everyone to play well in every game, outside of Carmelo. It won't happen. If we won game 1, we basically had the series in our hand. Winning game 2 doesn't do that, AT ALL. As long as we have role players and pgs wanting to be the first option, we won't beat the Lakers. As long as this board, 2 Gods refuse to play defense, we won't beat the Lakers. Billups/JR has rarely played defense the entire season, it won't pickup now.
Btw, what did you think of my last point?
I also don't think we can play harder. That was A+ effort. Low basketball IQ cost us the game. That won't change in a series.

I guarantee that!! if they get game 2 this will be forgotten, but if they dont the series is most likely not winnable. we wont beat this team 4 out of 5 most likely. thats why people seemed worried, this was a big loss when it was so close. and.. PHIL JACKSON IS 42-0 WHEN WINNING THE FIRST GAME OF A PLAYOFF SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boston was 32-0 when leading a series 3-2, look what happened here.

Low basketball IQ cost us the game. That won't change in a series. I think you'll be surprised at how hard our team plays. this is the WCF and in order to beat this team there is an understanding that we cannot have any energy letdowns. Unless the lakers break our will, it won't happen. And it's not too tough to shoot a good percentage when you're getting dunks like we did. and it's starting to look like LA's 39% fg% against us on the year is less of an anomaly. We match up better with them than some of us want to admit.

Shooting was pretty much the ONLY thing we did well last night. Everything else, we were basically at or below our playoff average.

Ruru, we obviously play good defense on them. But we have to many spurts in a game where we play dumb basketball. I'm not doubting the energy, especially from Carmelo, but we know Carmelo won't be that hot again. I'm sure he can drop 40 and positive he will, but when he's shooting 70% and he can't get the ball while feeling it, I can't expect him to get the ball when he's shooting 50%. Its not a fluke that we keep LA at a low %, but it's not a fluke that we always find a way to lose against them. This team is full of dummies (Kmart foul/AC pass/JR playing showed that). That won't change overnight. IQ, not energy, is why I think we'll lose.

we lost the game at the end due too bad D,, there last 8pts came from ft,,, we just could not put them away , there was 2 plays melo and jr had wide open 3 that would have been huge- too make a little run.
