This is a tough way for the Nuggets to go out this season. I wish our peeps here would stay together instead of attacking each other when things have gotten rough for the team.
I could kinda see the “going out with a whimper” coming because of the bad combination of 1) the western conference having 80% of the league’s talent, and 2) the Nuggets having no bench. The former put standings pressure on the Nuggets’ coaches to keep playing all of the main guys heavy minutes when they needed a lower workload after playing into June last season; the latter put psychological and physical pressure on the main guys to keep doing everything even when they were nursing injuries. It was going to take a toll.
Our friend Tim Connelly and his staff really screwed up the summers from 2017-2021 other than taking a chance on Porter’s health. Other than Porter, the Nuggets have nothing to show from 5 years of draft picks (including a 2017 lottery pick) and undrafted free agency (Naz Reid was signed by the TWolves as an undrafted free agent in 2019; the Heat were signing one undrafted future NBA player after another). The result is no depth.
The starters were tired going in to the playoffs.
And of course the western conference is 100X better than the east and that part just pisses me off.
The TWolves are 100% healthy and playing their very best basketball right now. So its a perfect storm of s**t.
There’s no point in sniping at each other.

it's the incessant and delusional trolling culture he's been engaged in for seemingly forever. I'm truly starting to believe sticky has a hard time deciphering reality from the fantasy world he constructed. lol bro I’m fine out here. Quitting this place for the season was the best decision of my life because a lot of you guys are absolutely terrible humans. I just come here now to tell you guys you don’t deserve to be happy and then log off and don’t waste a single second thinking about anybody Lmao dude you have acted no differently this year than any other year. Come to forum, tell bad jokes, call racism when someone disagrees with you, say fu jimi, repeat.

I’ll add this — I think it’s bush league for the league to change the rules of the game at the all-star break. It is obvious to any of us with a working brain that the criticism of the scoring splurge that came to a head with the 359 point allstar game led Adam Silver to instruct referee management to immediately change how games were going to be officiated. When you go from “that’s a foul” to “that’s not a foul,” you are changing the rules of the sport. Now we are mostly back to the 90’s when you could clutch, grab and bump perimeter players 40 feet from the basket as long as you only do it for 1-2 seconds at a time. You can bump the hell out of interior players as long as it’s not on their shooting arm while they are shooting. The “new rules” seem in part to be something along those lines, although it’s difficult to say since I’m not sure the refs even know exactly what the rules are supposed to be now. Since this was changed mid-season, the refs aren’t really sure how to officiate games — other than “call fewer fouls” — so it’s wildly inconsistent.

Though I did think we started figuring out how to guard in the 2nd half. Puts a premium on getting out and running before defense is set.

The games are not being called like they were in the 90s. In that era undercutting a driving player was common. If it was now, MPJ's career would already be over, along with many others. Joker specifically assumed being MVP several times hoped he would get a more friendly whistle and hasn't, but for most players things have only changed slightly IMO.
Last night's game, as well as the first, were categorically NOT lost due to officiating. They were lost to mounting injuries and the lack of a bench buildup in the off-season. I like Calvin, but the team's weaknesses were not addressed in the off-season, and most realistic Nuggets fans saw the problems coming before the season began. Keeping Pickett on the roster instead of Gillespie was a HORRIBLE call. Having a couple of extra wings at the expense of more bigs besides DJ was another muff. I hope Jordan joins the staff as a coach, and he had a few moments, but he was a fraction the player Cousins was. (Cuz main problem was having the worst whistle of any player in the history of the NBA)
The T-Pups victory last night and in the series was Ant and coaching. Malone was a great coach last season, but last night he was clearly bested by their coaches.

As much as the Nuggets players (specifically the starters) deserve to be heavily criticized ...lets not forget how difficult it is to repeat as NBA champions. The Warriors last did it in 2017 and 2018 and they had prime Steph Curry and KD on their team ...Jokic is up there but Murray/MPJ/AG are nowhere near prime Curry/KD The Nuggets have had a target on their back all season, every game and the fatigue is showing It's a learning lesson for the team but realistically the major thing is that it really does take some luck to win an NBA Championship. When you look at all the teams remaining, all of them have been pretty much injury free. The teams that got eliminated had injuries (Zion, Butler, Embiid, Giannis, Dame, Kawhi) It's just very hard to stay completely healthy 2 years in a row. The Nuggets played more basketball than anyone in the past 2 years. Chickens have come home to roost now. I don’t remember this being true back in the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Why is “staying healthy” so much harder with better health, technology, travel, nutrition, etc

(Cuz main problem was having the worst whistle of any player in the history of the NBA) Gillespie wasn’t going to help the Nuggets against the TWolves. You can’t necessarily fix talent problems just because you see them. It’s not like other teams were lining up to give the Nuggets playoff level rotation players. You have to have assets. The lack of bench talent goes back before Booth was in his current job. Naz Reid was signed as an undrafted free agent immediately after the 2019 draft and before the summer league even started was signed to a multi-year contract. Clearly, as soon as they got him into summer league camp it became apparent he was an NBA talent. The league is full of these guys, with Van Vleet and Robinson and Reid and Dort and Strus and McConnell and Caruso and Jones Jr. and I could name a couple of dozen more. I seriously doubt CG will be on that list next season even if he’s at the end of some team’s bench. The Nuggets FO had some bad summers during the Connelly era. I think that’s the real problem with the lack of depth on the team.

1) I don’t want to see guys like Lothar, Fami and jogging butthole celebrating after wins. 2) Why do we keep a Knicks guy around Years back I thought of you as a friend. Went to games together, grabbed a meal, wanted to chat. I got busy with a kid and with my wife's poor health and I have no idea what happened to you during that time period, but for some reason now you treat me like the villain in your life, and whenever things are going poorly my name ends up in your mouth. You think about me way too much. Get help. This was actually kinda sweet until you publically ask him to get help. If hes your friend like you pretend (to get goodwill, justify it for yourself or god knows why) then youd just send him a message asking if he is okay. I can almost guarantee sticky would have been willing to talk about it lots of times over the years. But he’s kinda been ignored and ridiculed.

This is a post talking flat out s**t about the personality of someone you act like you friends with. This is some high school mean girl s**t. Like grow the f**k up. Let Sticky be upset. Him calling this place racist (and he has his reason) wouldnt upset any non-racist this much. Going after his banter and jokes is just low. Like were you guys fake this whole time? Or is it just to hurt his feels

If hes your friend like you pretend (to get goodwill, justify it for yourself or god knows why) then youd just send him a message asking if he is okay. He's not my friend any more. He was, but whatever happened to him like 6 years ago when my wife's health was really poor and I wasn't paying much attention to this board, he blamed on me and decided to antagonize me about it. I asked him politely to stop, repeatedly. I asked him why he was acting that way and he never had an answer that made any sense -- he'd just tell me that I supported racists or something like that, but never reported anything specific that mods could follow up on. And he's decided to ramp up the antagonism again. Just look through his recent posts. So no, I'm not sending him a message asking if he is okay. He's clearly not, and he's showed for a few years now that he isn't willing to work through it with me, he's just going to insult and belittle me and treat me like a villain. I spent a long time trying to resolve a conflict I don't understand, but eventually I realized there's nothing I can do to help him, so I'm no longer putting any effort into it.
