Everything went how the lakers needed it to go. AD monster game, Lebron engaged for 4 quarters. DLo outscured Jamal. Got off to a fast start. Nuggets couldn’t hit threes.
And they lost.
And the reason according to them …

Joker’s wife was carrying their daughter and went over briefly to intervene, but then walked back toward camera. See the look on her face. NOT happy! Should have been a joyous moment for the family.

AD so salty postgame… loved it. Don’t see how they recover. Poor Lakers, they are so mistreated by the refs. Never get any calls.

Helluva game, eh Rockster? Definitely Never again write that when the Nuggets are down big, they never come back. I’ve read you saying this repeatedly over the years. Last night should put that narrative to rest because it just isn’t true.

Last night should put that narrative to rest because it just isn’t true. It was always a bad narrative. As Ernie Johnson pointed out last night, the Nugs have come back from 10+ down 35 times in the last 2 seasons which is more than anybody.

It always felt like it was true. Maybe it’s the frustration that we are always seemingly down double digits.
Still buzzing over last night.

Lebron was obviously trying to milk their lead the entire 2nd half — walking the ball up court, using most of the shot clock in most possessions. And taking (and making) a couple of 25+ foot shots to avoid having to work harder and move further in both directions.
While the 2nd half obviously went well for the Nuggets, here’s a question for the peanut gallery — should the Nuggets have been picking up Lebron at half court (or before) some of the time to try to force him to use more energy and play faster, and to take away those open threes when Nuggets’ defenders had backed off to defend the drive? I think Lebron knows that by the 2nd half, he has very few drives left in his legs (we saw him get sloppy and increasingly lose his balance, turn the ball over etc.) and wants to take some pull up threes to cut out 50 feet of moving. The Nuggets were tired too, so there is that, and there’s an argument that it’s better for the Nuggets to let Lebron and his ego dominate the ball.
Whaddya think?

When I saw LeBron have Reggie in isolation during the 4th quarter of game 1, and he settled for a step back 3 point attempt...that told me everything I needed to know. You can see how tired he gets and settling for 3s, especially in these late game situations against unbelievably favorable matchups, is a major sign he just doesn't have it physically anymore. At least not anywhere near what he once was. Still impressive for how old he is, though.

He wasn’t being guarded very tightly when he made those b2b 3’s behind the top of the key in the fourth quarter last night. Given how well he’s shooting from distance and how he was guarded, those were good shot selections whether or not he feels tired later in game.

I’d say there is more to shot selection — late in a very close playoff game — than regular season math.
