Klay cost himself literally millions of dollars with his stinker of a performance last night. Wanted a max as a UFA, was never gonna receive that, and now he will be lucky to receive an MLE contract. Dubs say they want to keep him, or at least Kerr has said that. Maybe his 0-10 dud last night will allow it to happen. I have been a Klay fan. But I don’t see him getting anything other than a vet min. What can he do anymore? He used to be a good PoA defender. Now he’s a poor defender. He used to be able to drive to the hoop…basically didn’t even try to do that anymore. And his shooting splits have been terrible. He just doesn’t offer much. On a good night, he’s half of a 3 and D player. Exclude this game and check his season stats. Those are not minimum salary stats. Yes, he is far from what he once was and far from a max, but don't take this to another extreem. Mid seems right.

Why do you think the lakers are better? Gabe Vincent? Prince? Instead of catching a tired Lakers team in WCF, we face them in first round. They are better than the worn down team we swept. They are fresher. I have no idea how James and Davis feel, but I do know each has played the most minutes since 17-18. I think the Lakers bench is weaker. Last year, they had a strong backcourt bench with Schroder and Walker (Beasley was a bum). Dinwiddie (who seems to have lost some of his quickness) and Vincent are generally not as good, although it’s certainly possible they have some good games in the playoffs. Maybe they are healthier than they were earlier this season — I have no idea. Prince is really the only bench guy they have that I like. Vanderbilt can provide some dirty work minutes. Overall, their bench is pretty lousy and they are counting on James being able to load manage himself through games and Davis staying on the court via luck and Russell playing 100X better than he played last postseason.

Not sure I've ever seen anything like that ending before. Zion basically takes the game over, brings NO back from the dead. And then just walks off the court with 3 minutes left. Not even limping or holding anything. Usually when you hurt something, you at least grab at it. Then they leave Ingram on the bench even after Zion left? Very strange. And they don't even try to challenge one of the many touch fouls at the end? Pretty weird. Tip of the cap to james though. What he's doing at 39 is just nuts. Grey hair and all, he's still the clear leader of that team. Willie screwed the pooch in the 4th quarter of this game. He even called two quick timeouts to start the 4th when his team had the momentum. He didn't even question the refs when grand theft got blind sided by Autism Reeves, that was a big no call late in the game.

I think Schroeder is an underrated loss for LAL. He was locking guards up on defense in the playoffs.
Now let’s remind the Lakers why DLo’s contract sucks, and play the man off the court.

Heat Zone is a thing of beauty. There is no way anyone can claim the best coach in the NBA over Spolestra.

And the way to beat it is through the center position, but they're simply denying Embiid/Reed the ball and letting them pick up frustration fouls Remember we won the Heat series with defense 80s style, everyone outside of Jokic was struggling with % and with turnovers vs Heat. But this type of zone defense i have never seen in my life. It's constantly shifting and everyone is in sync. It's crazy to even come up with this type of scheme and on top of that have your millioners players buy in to it 100%.

with all due respect to Jimmy and Spo, I still can't believe the Heat made the finals last year and beat two actual contenders to get there.

I see a guy that shoots 43% from the field and has a 4:3 ast-TO ration and cannot guard anyone. He averages 17 a game because Kerr plays him 30 minutes a game when he should play between 15 and 20 max. Maybe vet min was too harsh, but his numbers are not all that good.

Lakers have 25+ FTAs in every win, and have nothing to lose. We got our work cut out for us. Lakers have a major revenge factor too. They're going to play their asses off Game 1 to try to steal it. Nuggets better be ready for a very physical series. Path is looking like: AD/Lebron, KD/Beal/Booker, Luka/Kyrie, Celtics. Fun times. Seems impossible but Jokic/Murray we trust. Why would it be impossible? We are the defending champs god dammit

It's not like the Nuggets finished the season with more wins than last year despite a much tougher conference, having the target on their backs from being champs, and Reggie having to start 23 games for Jamal or anything. Oh wait, they totally did. As much as nobody wants to believe it, this team is better than last year's team. Watson over Green is a big upgrade. This year's Braun is much better. This year's Porter is better. We miss Bruce but a combination of more KCP/CB minutes, Holiday, and Reggie will compensate for that. Much tougher conference?
