June 22 (draft night):

This team is awful. So glad we got that title last year because we aren’t contending for anything this year.

DNVR is the most worthless bunch of morons you could imagine. Those clowns thought Pickett and Tyson would be in the rotation.

But as far as bench quality.

WS/48 last year for our bench guys that played in the playoffs:
Brown  .090 (started 31 games)
Braun  .079
Green  .074

For this year's bench rotation guys:
Holiday  .101
Braun  .100
Watson  .079
Jackson  .056

On court plus/minus per 100 last year
Brown +0.9
Braun -3.2
Green -8.1

This year:
Holiday +3.1
Jackson +1.3
Braun +1.2
Watson -0.2

The bench last year was actually worse until we got to the playoffs and started playing AG at 2C. That's why we won more games in a tougher conference despite Jamal getting hurt and Reggie being Reggie.

Rock is awesome. I have so much affection for rock and his doomsaying. And that's why posts like this are so entertaining for me. It's like, yeah, this is the dude who wears his heart on his sleeve and is going to have a doomer mentality pretty much any time outside of the narrow window between clinching the championship and the first time another team signs a mediocre free agent. But it also means that when dude gets to f***ing Stay On Parade, it's like the highest high, and that's more fun than when it's someone who always thinks we're going to win and then can't really get hyped when it really happens.

Also the bench was literally better this year, so technically DNVR/NT were right.

DNVR > Fami when it comes to entertainment and not being a hater.

A pile of dirty laundry > DNVR when it comes to knowing anything about basketball

and somehow their hockey coverage is 10X worse

Listen I may not agree with everything Mares says as he gets very homerish when it comes to players who fit his mold (Pickett is a great example of this), but the guy knows a ton about basketball. You cannot work with the guys he's worked with and not learn a ton from them. The other guys are there for entertainment value and their show is entertaining for the most part IMO.

I used to enjoy Mares' long form pieces over at the stiffs and once upon a time considered him "our" Zach Lowe (which is probably why Lowe is a fan of his), but I'm sorry, I can't watch that s**t. taking 20-30 minutes of Nuggets related content and stretching it over 90 minutes because you want to sell more ads is like nails over the chalkboard to me. and this is not a dig at DNVR specifically, I'm referring to new media/entertainment in general.

Same here. I'll watch every once in a while during the regular season but playoffs I'll be an every nighter. There's just too many games and this season in particular outside of Game 1 was extremely boring. The NBA has really ruined the regular season.

Outside of the Lakers and Sixers...I simply don't care about regular season Nuggets games like I used to.

Try playing their recorded shows at 2x speed. Saves me lots of time.

This goes for all podcasts and YouTube vids. Unless the speaker has a heavy accent, you can train yourself to understand at rapid speed.

dont watch either, DNVR is such a bad show. Mares and to some degree Wind are the only two guys there who know anything about basketball. others are horrific. 


but I do like what Mares is doing with Legler. mostly because of Legler, but Mares is good there and is actually talking about basketball. there is one more guy I like from that all city crew. I think his name is Saul, he is doing podcast for Suns with Eddie Johnson(who knows shamefully little about basketball considering he is ex NBA player). everything else is Skip Bayless meets Sticky type of bullshiting.

This is true if we are talking about DNVR Rockies, the most woebegotten streaming video show I’ve ever watched. These days, it’s Suzie Hunter saying next to nothing insightful about the Rockies or MLB, babbling about nothing of interest, and showing off her bod. Which isn’t bad, but not the reason I watch a sports team vlog. The audience appears to reflect the crappiness as it gets maybe 10 viewers during livestream, and 100 max afterwards. It’s pathetic, but then again, so is the team she ostensibly covers, which is 4-13 as I type.

DNVR Nuggets, by all accounts, is reasonably successful with a good size livestream and total audience. Yeah, they have a great team to cover, unlike the Rockies, but they also get viewers for a reason…it is entertaining. Though maybe not your cup of tea.
