The goal is not to qualify to PO's but to go as far as possible. If there is a clear path for it only dumb organizations would take more difficult path and embarrass themselves.

No team is tanking a play-in game. The goal is to get into the playoffs. If you think an athlete is thinking "man if we lose this one and win the next one we get a better matchup" you don't know athletes/competitiveness. I mean you say this but the Cavs legit just purposefully tanked down the stretch vs the Hornets to ensure they went from the 3-seed to the 4-seed. They legit lost on purpose as they wanted to play the Magic. So it is happening. It just happened. Where was the competitiveness in that? Big difference between being 3rd/4th and risking everything in a single elimination game.

If you can't win one game at home when you're still rested against the Kings or GSW then you have nothing to do in PO's especially if your path is thru Nuggets in round 1

Dumb is to risk everything on a single elimination game, especially when that one could be against someone like Curry that can definitely go off on a rampage. It's far more embarrassing not to make the playoffs at all. FO also has a goal of earning money, risking at least one round PO is a big loss for the LAL.

the Lakers are operating in a different galaxy. the Nuggets need to make the playoffs to stay in the black, the Lakers don't even notice that revenue.

go watch the Faculeague.
oh wow, let me check the boxscore. Lyon-Villeurbanne defeated Barcelona! and the best player of that game was another Nugget washout that wasn't good enough to outplay Darrel Arthur's corpse in the big boy league! what a game that must've been!

if it's any consolation, King Joffrey could arguably outplay Zeke for a rotation spot today.

yes, the 34 year old, injury prone, 5'11 Kemba Walker should be probably not be playing professional basketball at any level at this point in his career.

Love the style of Euroleague but Real would get obliterated by like 20+ NBA teams. Like obliterated. There's a reason why most guys who come from Euroleague aren't successful in the NBA and most guys who come from the NBA are successful in the Euroleague. Different skillsets are more valuable due to the play styles of each league but there's a reason why the US is going to win the Olympics this year (and does any time they put together the best roster they can). Talent typically wins out.
