I know its day early.
But its all about playoff seeding.
So, lets start.
First of all, everyone who is saying Nuggets are no longer control their destiny, lies. Nuggets are in full control. If they lose, they are third. I'd say thats control.
Now, lets go through scenarios:
1. Nuggets lose
Nuggets are third a- They will play Pelicans if Pelicans beat Lakers, or Minnesota beats Suns b- They will play Suns if Lakers beat Pelicans and Suns beat Minnesota
2. Nuggets win
Nuggets are third if Minnesota beat Suns and OKC beat Mavs Nuggets are second it one of Minnesota or OKC lose Nuggets are first if both Minnesota and OKC lose
If Nuggets end up third they are playing Pelicans for sure If Nuggets are second, they will play (oh boy, lets have our calculators) a- winner of Pelicans - Lakers if both Lakers and Suns wins b- winner of Suns-Lakers if Suns lose, OKC lose, Lakers win c- winner of Suns-Kings if Suns win, Lakers lose, Kings win, GSW win d- winner of Suns-GSW if Suns win, Lakers lose, Kings lose, GSW win
If Nuggets are first they will play someone from Pelicans, Lakers, Kings, Warriors, Suns
How I see it ends up?
Suns beating Minnesota, OKC beating Mavs, Lakers beating Pelicans and Nuggets beating Grizzlies. Nuggets will finish second and play winner of Pelicans-Lakers. And I think Lakers will win that game. Then is second round Nuggets will play winner of Minnesota-Suns. I think its Suns. In finals, they will play whoever comes from OKC, Mavs, Clippers, GSW. I see Nuggets-Clippers finals, as I predicted when season started.

Interesting box score out of Minny tonight. They almost lost to Atlanta at home.
KAT finally played - but really terrible box numbers (only starter that was "-") - but KAT and Edwards couldn't buy themselves a 3-pointer. Gobert was the highest scorer!
Minny's legs are shot. That - and the Denver game took their soul. They know they can't beat us in the playoffs - and some mojo is now lost as a result.
As far as sunday goes - I also like PHX's chances of beating Minny on Sunday.

As far as sunday goes - I also like PHX's chances of beating Minny on Sunday. I dont necessarily disagree about the Wolves, but the problem is one can easily take everything you said about the Wolves and replace with the Nuggets. Minny at least found a way to win against a bad team while Denver did not. Here is exactly what was said but with Wolves replaced with Denver, Towns replaced with MPJ, and a few other tweaks as it's hard to argue this also isn't possibly true... "Interesting box score out of San Antonio tonight. They lost to the Spurs. MPJ played - but really terrible box numbers (one of four starters with "-") - but MPJ and KCP couldn't buy themselves a 3-pointer. Denver's legs are shot. That - and the Minny game took their soul. They know they can't beat us in the playoffs - and some mojo is now lost as a result." Not saying I believe Denver is toast in the playoffs but let's also not point out the Wolves issues while completely ignoring the fact the Nuggets just got pantsed by the Spurs.

I posted this in the other thread, but will post it here too…
Memphis has tons of players out tomorrow including JJJ, but guys who played well against the Lakers in the last game include luminaries such as GG Jackson II, Jake LaRavia, and Scotty Pippen Jr. All appear available tomorrow, along with several two-way guys, including Jack White! In the end, it might be Jack White who knocks us out of any chance at top 2 seeding, lol.
Since all our regulars have now been downgraded to “questionable”, I think we are gonna play our backups and scrubs tomorrow, and try to win anyway against Memphis G-leaguers. Malone must be thinking it would be nice to get one of the top two seeds, but he isn’t about to risk the health of our rotation guys who are nursing stuff or are tired right now. He will take 3-seed to preserve health. Not the way I would have done it, but it might work out (to use a Peter Marshall Hollywood Squares line when someone didn’t pick Wally Cox or Paul Lynde . Yeah, I’m old).

Our likely rotation tomorrow:
Starters… PG -Braun SG - Holiday SF- Watson PF- Nnaji C - DAJ
Reserves… PG - Pickett (CG listed “doubtful” due to a knee sprain) SG - Strawther SF - Key PF - Tyson C. - Huff
Could be fun. Could be cringeworthy.

Sounds good to me. Starters had their shot to beat down the scrubs and failed. Might as well give our reserves a chance

Calling a Zeke Nnaji double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) today.

Starters already checked out of caring in the 2nd half of the Spurs game as no guarantee they don't do that again since they are essentially locked into the 3rd spot now in the west.

But they aren’t locked into the 3rd seed. They are essentially locked into not having 1st seed, I’d agree, since both Minny and OKC would need to lose today. That’s far-fetched. But Minny could easily lose to Suns, making 2nd seed our’s if we win.

I hope that no starters play today and that sanity will finally kick in. What a waste of time in the last 2 weeks is hard to swallow

Calling a Zeke Nnaji double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) today. Zeke needs to play all 48 minutes to get 10 rebounds. I don’t know the people of Memphis, but I wouldn’t wish that upon anyone.

The only cool thing about losing to the Spurs and coughing up the 1 seed is that it gives us more possibilities for our playoff path. Instead of having to wait to see who gets the 8th seed and then also knowing for sure we'd be playing Dallas or the Clippers in the 2nd round...now we know we definitely won't be seeing either the Mavs or Clippers in the 2nd round.
We also can have a little more control over what happens with the 2 seed. Assuming OKC wins, which seems inevitable...if Minnesota looks like they're going to win their game vs PHX, we can decide to lose our game and push Minnesota to #1 and make OKC #2. If Minnesota is going to lose to PHX, then we can win our game and take the #2 seed and have home court vs Minny in the 2nd round. I guess in theory both OKC and MIN could lose and then a win puts us back at #1, but that seems like a 0.01% chance at happening. So the only thing that doesn't seem super beneficial to use is if all three of OKC, MIN, and DEN win today and things just stay exactly the same. If we're going to be the 3 seed and not have HCA in the 2nd round regardless, it probably makes more sense to choose playing OKC over Minnesota.
We just saw Cleveland actively choose to tank their lead in the 4th quarter vs Charlotte to avoid winning the division, because they wanted the 4/5 matchup with Orlando over possibly having to play Philly as the 2 seed. It's kinda lame in a way, but matchups matter and it is one fun thing about the way this last day of the season goes with everyone playing at the same time and standings being so close.
I guess we'll see how Malone plays it today.
