Us metalheads I'm trailing my friends by hundreds and thousands of CDs, but I'm getting there lol You do know the shelf life on CDs really sucks, not something you can expect to listen in 10 years...
Sure, but there are places where you can just buy them again and the record companies are putting more and more re-releases, so I'm not afraid of not being able to buy something in the future.

ESPN: "Jokic and Murray proved to be a tandem that opponents could not contain this postseason. They are the first pair of teammates in NBA history to average 25 points, five rebounds and five assists in a single postseason"

18+ years ain't nothing to sneeze at either. That's long enough. My fandom started before I can remember. My first memories were my dad taking me to games at McNichols with the Horse and English making it look easy and Hanz pissing off the other teams star players. But for me, I didn't truly get sucked in until the 94 upset over the Sonics. I was able to watch that team get built from the ground up and I loved that team. Especially Phonz. It's really a shame what happened to that group. Sad, really. Winning with defense was big in that era and I thought we had a championship defense. What I learned over those years is that to win an NBA championship in a market as small as Denver would take incredible patience and perseverance. You weren't gonna buy it or win one with a rent-a-star. No way. The idea that you could just blow it up when things weren't looking good became a myth for me. What we needed and finally got, was an FO to be patient and keep prioritizing great drafts, even if they didn't have ideal picks. That's the Spurs model if you ask me. Don't waste draft picks. Even this year, we have a rookie out there in the finals making a huge impact because we didn't punt. As odd as it may sound, I felt like the change started happening around the time of the Faried and Lawson picks. That's when I stopped being as critical of the FO. Pretty much from that point forward, we actually scout and take picks that aren't top 5 seriously. That's how you build a great team in a small market. And of course, it takes a little help from the bball gods. Thanks Jokic!! It isn't but it's awesome seeing fans who literally have memories from '94 experience this or for a few on here waaaay back further. Same with all the people who watch games at like 4 AM before they have to head to work. New fans, longtime fans it's awesome.. the first one ever is special. You make some great points and points that I would have disagreed with for like 10+ pages for years. For me it's fitting because I was OBSESSED with tanking/blowing it up. I thought it was the only way for the Nuggets franchise to win. To get that "star".. and yet we won with a 2nd round pick + non top 5 picks. I have two PM's from 2012 with the subject "tank" and "blow it up"(shout out voodoo) because I'd basically just spam that s**t for pages. I was obsessed with the draft and getting the highest possible picks. I loved all those old discussions. Thanks for being here and getting into it. It's the lean years when the true fans come out and voice their opinions and it was needed when nobody ever talked about the team. To be honest, you were arguing from the more logical place. It's kind of embarrassing looking back at how anti-tank I was. I came to this forum with that agenda. I HATED the Skita pick and I wanted to let the entire universe know about it. I had tank fatigue and my takes weren't well received. Kinda funny how we came in here with such opposite ideas. To be clear, as anti-tank as I may be at times, I was very aware of the fact that stars weren't beating down our door in free agency. I was probably kinda delusional thinking we could build a contender without a top 5 pick. It's just pure luck it worked out. In fact, it might not have without the haul we got for Melo, so who knows. Just glad it finally broke our way.

Thoughts From the Third Deck, 2022-23 season final edition: - if you're in Denver and can afford season tickets, get them. It's cheaper than buying a couple of finals game tickets, even if you just throw away the entire regular season. If you sell some games and earlier playoff rounds, you can make up quite a bit of the difference (I made back 54% of my season + playoff costs by selling about half of the regular season games and one round 1 and one round 2 game. I wasn't going to sell any finals tickets, but if I did sell just one game, the rest of the season would have been a net negative cost to me.) - This was an ugly, ugly game in so many ways. The better 3pt shooting team hit 25.7%. We had 10 missed free throws and 14 turnovers. It takes an incredible amount of heart to win a game like that. - the refs really f***ing sucked, like, unbelievably badly. And everyone in the building knew it, including Spo and the Heat, and including the refs themselves. No way they didn't know. - I loved how MPJ responded to his shooting slump by attacking the glass and staying locked in defensively. - DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS! There were so many mistakes this game, but everyone locked in defensively. - Christian Braun. Winner. - Rocky made his halfcourt backwards shot. - I really appreciated the few DAJ minutes, and the fact that dude won a ring while CP0 and Blake haven't. - Likewise really happy for Uncle Jeff, Ish, and Reggie - Did I mention the refs were terrible? That challenge that didn't get overturned ... wtf - WE MADE IT! Thanks rock for making this board. I may not have become as obsessed as I did if I didn't have this place to chat with you all. And thanks to all the friends and frenemies I've made along the way. The only victory lap I'm taking today is that the Nuggets are world champions, and all of us here get to celebrate in it together. Glad you got to experience it! That call still deeply bothers me. As fun as this is, there's a part of me that wants to be done with the NBA. I'm almost at a point where I could walk away from it and never come back, but I do love this team and I love the game. I just don't know how a group of officials can look at that replay and say it was a foul on us.

I cant sleep. this is insane. i cant think straight.
we got a champagne celebration in the lockerroom
we got a podium celebration on our home court
espn freaking wrote "DENVER NUGGETS NBA CHAMPIONS"
the commissioner handed us the larry o brian trophy. not michael jordan, not curry. not shaq. not giannis. not bird, or magic, or isaiah. not duncan. not lebron. us. the denver nuggets. its ours. its freaking ours.
we will get a parade
we will get a white house visit
these are things ive watched other teams get for years. not just nba. every sport.
it never felt possible. its like the lottery. I know people win the lottery. it seems impossible but people do win it. it actually does happen. just like other teams win titles. their fans always got to celebrate.
but today, its us. we did it. we get all these things.
I cant believe it.

First Nuggets I ever went to: www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/199104190DEN.htmlBegged my mother to buy tixs and take me. I was 10 years old. McNichols was no place for a 10-year-old. This was before Denver went liberal. Back then, they would hand you a firearm when you entered the arena. That 1991 crowd was the most raucous sports crowd I have ever been witness to. This was the year before we even had Mutombo - we sucked. Joe Wolf was our starting Center (think about it - Jokic is now our starting C). We were down by 14 with 5 mins to go against a very good Spurs team (Sean Elliot, The Admiral) and somehow, we gutted out a victory! Someone from the 2nd level spilled beer over our entire lower section. Never in my life had I ever thought I would walk out of a building with my mother, both of us smelling like beer (McNichols was special). I'm 42 now - my son is 10 and I'm married to the love of my life. Never imagined how full circle this stuff gets. In a weird way, I'm almost glad we didn't win the banner with Melo. I would have loved to have done it - but I've really grown fond of this current team. I've heard multiple stories of how kind and gentlemanly our players are. They really represent everything I love about team sports, the camaraderie, and the sacrifices you make for others, for the good of the goal. Game 1's crowd was slightly louder. I think that was because a lot of "true fans" bought tixs for Game 1. I could not hear my wife's voice the entire time during Game 1. Game 5 was second loudest I've ever heard Ball Arena. There were pockets where I could hear my wife talking to me (lol) - but the majority of the time, I could not hear her. The arena stood during much of the 1st quarter, and the entire arena stood during almost the entire 4th quarter. The game was honestly a BLUR to me the entire time. I remember being lucky enough to see Game 7 of the Stanley Cup in Ball Arena (Avalanche vs Devils). I recall how the crowd just obsessively reacted to everything the puck did - and tonight was a carbon-copy, especially as the 4th quarter emerged. The section we sat in (Section 106) was honestly like the college/varsity section - everyone in the lower part of our section stood, basically, during the entire game. There was no better way to watch a Finals game than standing and yelling the entire time. When Aaron Gordon blocked Lowery's shot - that's when the arena realized we were going to win and nothing would stop it. Rocky's half-court shot was quite pivotal. We were seated relatively near the Heat bench. You could see Spo drawing up plays and going over it with multiple players - this was a CRITICAL moment in the game. When Rocky swished the shot, the crowd went NUTS, and the Heat could no longer communicate. For real - Rocky's half-courter disrupted their timeout badly. Once KCP secured the ball and got fouled - you could have released the confetti at that point. It was incredible - this energy went through the arena - we all felt it - we were finally going to be champions. Everyone started high-fiving and hugging the person next to them. It was awesome to be ensconced in such a diverse crowd and see the love that just outpoured. I cried when Murray was interviewed with tears in his eyes. When I youtube-scouted the 2016 draft, I fell in love with Murray. You could see the "dog" in him even back then. Word around the league is that Murray is one of the nicest gentlemen and loves the fans. I'm very proud of that young man - just like Jokic, he is selfless, beyond talented, but constantly fighting for the team above everything else. Outside of Uncle TNF, Murray is the person I'm most happy for tonight. Took my fam, as always, to our fav steakhouse afterwards. We ran into Christian Braun's mother, and thanked her profusely for raising such a great kid (she was hanging out with Coach Self). Explained to her how we've been waiting for this for decades and how pivotal her son was to this. She then went out of her way to apologize for his missed free throws and told us she wanted to kick him for it (lol - she even accidentally dropped her beverage at that point, and glass shattered in front of our table - I couldn't help it, I laughed hysterically - all offered to help the staff with cleanup, but the restaurant's team cleaned it quickly). Braun's mother then told us how grateful she was that her son was drafted to our team. She said the men on the team have been incredible mentors, that they truly are family and they love each other. Bought my fam an A5 steak, some Spanish red wine, and truffle butter. I've come a long way since walking out of McNichols smelling like beer. My sister sent me a text during dinner and told me how touched she was that I've rooted for this team all of these years, never giving up, and always believing in it. She told me it showed dedication, and that she was happy for me and proud of me. I feel the same about all of you.

Joe Wolf was our starting Center Somewhere in my basement, I have a sign from the Joe Wolf fan club that members of the fan club signed, after Joe Wolf signed one of their shoes after a game as we were all walking back to the parking lot that was like 8 blocks south of the arena (but you can't beat $5 parking or whatever it was back then.)

Do you remember the Denny's that was the up the hill? I recall my mother and I got dropped off at the game, and then we needed a cab (yes, well before Uber). We assumed cabs would be at the game - but of course - no. We walked all the way up the hill, to Denny's, used a pay phone (!!!) and called a cab. I think we waited for an hour or so. And yes - smelled like beer the entire time. I need to call my mom tonight and thank her lol.

I saw Metallica at McNichols back then. I think it was 92. My friends mom dropped us off. Makes me kinda laugh to think about just how different things were back then. It was a wild place. Not to take anything away from the crowds these days, but it was crazy back then.

This was the first game I ever attended. It was the 17 win season, the year before we drafted Carmelo and Skita was our future. www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200211160DET.htmlI was 11 years old. A school friend's family took me along with them. Tickets were cheap, Arena was almost empty but that didn't matter to me, I loved the environment. I had always loosely followed the Nuggets since I could remember but it was that night that I truly fell in love with the team. I remember Juwan Howard getting ejected that game and Chris Andersen getting a bloody nose that seemed like a big deal at the time. The next season, I won "Nugget for a Day" but I won't say for which game lol. I still have the VHS tape somewhere. Met that year's squad. Andre Miller thought my name was Voshon and was confused "We have two Voshons?" Boykins remarked how I was already almost as tall as him. Camby didn't play in the game but was the first to come over and shake my hand after practice. He said that he was " A Nugget for life." Those words resonated with me. Camby is still a personal favorite of mine. Carmelo was lively and put one of the coaches in a wrestling lock he called the "chicken wing" I joined this message board in 2006 when I was 14. I think I lied and tried to pass myself off as a 30 year old at the time, which is funny because I am actually now in my 30s (I promise). Thank you guys for putting up with my s**t in those earlier years. This feels unreal to be honest. Congrats to the team. Congrats to you guys. It's been a long and arduous process but I'm glad we all are now able to enjoy this moment for the team that we root for so dearly. Cheers.

It’s worse that that. Whatever 120% of 6.4 million is. And he might take it for one more year if we could really pay him after. But we can’t. Hell you never know though he may just take it anyway. I left a cushy wealth management job to go teach public high school. Money isn’t everything.

I think currently, we can offer him about 7.8 mill not that much of a pay increase. I think it is worth the effort to see what you can do to retain this man. Where there's a will, there is a way. Once again, I'm glad I'm not in the front office.
