We are losing to the heat arent we? We have no chance to stop their offense. Does this end the curse or will it take 4 more wins? How about this for a future date in history, the day that melo officially retires, the podunk nuggets advance to the finals. After the nuggets win the chip, bones "mile high city baby" Hyland will get a ring. You can't make s**t like this up.

It feels like there's a crazy little monkey on the loose in Denver, because it's not on our back anymore.

Went to the game tonight.
Little man protested, as he wanted to stay home and build his new lego. I looked at my wife, and in my best Jordan voice said: f**k them kids. Seats bought for me, wifey and baby boy on Seat Geek - off to Staples Center.
I was stunned that the Lakers played with so much intensity - but once I realized what happened at the end of the game, I can now see why they played with such fire.
It's critical to understand the gravity of tonight's win: The Lakers never lose in the Conference Finals. Yes - they have lost in the second round at times; but when the Lakers make the Conference Finals, it's basically a bullet-proof guarantee.
The last time the Lakers ever lost in the Conference Finals was against Utah in 1998. They weren't even playing at the Staples Center (that was in the Great Western Forum).
So let me establish: The Lakers have never lost in the Conference Finals since playing at the Staples Center, for the last 25 years basically. They have overcome massive challenges from the Kings and Spurs - but have never lost here. In the folklore of the NBA, when you consider the history of Kobe and Shaq, built by Jerry West (followed by Lebron and AD) - the yellow and purple floor at Staples is sacred to basketball itself.
Which gets me to this: Never in my life did I think I would see this:
Game ends. I assumed they would give the Oscar Robertson WCF trophy in the locker room. Nope... the trophy rolls out to center court, intended for a team other than the Lakers. This has never happened in the Staples Center.
The Nuggets fans present (me and wife and son, included) all went to the first rows. As the trophy came out, we started the chant: "Let's Go Nuggets - clap clap clap clap clap - Let's Go Nuggets!!" (repeat) - (Harrison Wind has great video of this on Twitter).
I never thought I would ever see an opposing team on the floor of Staples Center - the hallowed hall of Kobe and Shaq - receiving the second greatest award in basketball, with opposing fans clapping their team chant. The Staples Center boomed with "LETS GO NUGGETS" followed by claps.
The remaining Lakers fans booed loudly. They weren't having it. We had officially desecrated potentially the most holy court in basketball.
We didn't care.
The Nuggets chant continued, and only broke briefly, so that the Malone, Murray and Jokic could speak.
That's when it finally hit me - this is what the Lakers were trying to prevent. An opposing team's chant has never been clapped at the Staples Center.
I was lucky enough to be in McNichols during the Seattle 1994 series. Up to this point, I thought the most intense game of my life was Game 4 of Seattle-Denver in 1994. I think tonight surpassed that one. Honestly, the entire game felt like a blur. All I can remember is continually looking from the court to my wife, and us either exchanging a nervous look, or a look of glee.
Lakers fans tonight were definitely more locked-in and intense. Everyone was on their feet for the last half of the 4th quarter. Jokic's circus three-point shot over AD in the fourth - perfect perfect perfect arc - with a hall that hosted Kobe Bryant, that Jokic shot was the most perfect shot to ever be lifted in the Staples Center.
When it swished - the crowd was so stunned, some Lakers fans even clapped, because they just couldn't help it. And that is also when the air left the arena. Credit to the Lakers - they kept fighting; but the fans knew, at that point.
Lakers fans are classy. Arrogant fuckers - but they're good stewards to the hall and the game. Many of them stuck their fist out to me after the game and said "good game, brother."
Complete pandamonium outside the hall. I danced with one Nuggets fan, hugged tens of others. Walking outside of Staples - many franchises have walked into this arena trying in vain to hear their chant in that building - we are the only one that succeeded. At this point, the Lakers fan base might even consider us their top rival in the west.
Loaded wifey and babyboy into the truck after the game - took them to the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills - celebrated with my two loves over some red wine, caviar, and rib eyes.
Wifey congratulated me on the win. I kind of bristled because I didn't play in the game? My only contribution was continually standing up in the Staples Center and yelling "BOOM" everytime we hit a three. But she kindly reminded me of the importance of loyalty, and how fulfilling it is when the things you are loyal to succeed.
On a personal note: I went into a rehab program a year ago (I am terribly addictive) - I did another program 10 years ago that was very successful - but I needed a refresher. 10 years ago I was basically a loser (lol) - since then, I'm grateful to have founded and run a good company - but success brings very different monsters out that one must vanquish. It was my wife who asked me to go and I obliged. She's incredible - sticks by me through the worst of it. It's honestly been a wonderful year - but tough times with withdrawal symptoms. The program I was in involved detox of parasites, candida and sibo - my endurance and health has never been better - more importantly, my addictive cravings are down by 95% of what I felt before. I never realized how much energy I spent daily trying to suppress the cravings. This is the most balance I've ever had in my life and I'm really happy.
This board and the participants here (along with watching Nuggets games) have been a wonderful escape for these last 12 months. I'm very grateful you guys welcome me here and provide a nice home to escape to. I'm sorry I call many of you "pussies" lol - I hope I provide as much laughter and enthusiastic banter to you, as you do to me.
Congrats brothers. I really don't know if any fanbase has suffered as much as we have. Enjoy. We deserve it.

Well written, duh. Really enjoyed your posts this series Thank you, fam! Just wanted to jot my thoughts from the arena, as I think I'm the only one in NT that went to game 3 and 4. Been such a fun ride - but not over yet! I'll be flying to Denver - bought tixs for Game 1 and Game 2 - any of you guys going?

After years of Joshy using them as his plaything...this one is about the Nuggets players (and coaches even though Malone's rotations are goofy), not the ownership. Ownership did enough to not interfere, which I suppose is an upgrade from the 90s.

with the super-geniuses claiming "just make Jokic defend the PnR" and "put a small on Jokic" was enough to slow us down, I'm surprised it wasn't a sweep going the other way.
