Full TNT interview… youtu.be/upZaIh4ycNwI had to take a double-take when I saw him hug the first short guy, because I thought for a moment it was Facu. Of course, it would make no sense he’d be there!

some cultures side kiss when greeting someone (Arab/Spanish)
some cultures air kiss when greeting someone (French)
Malone went for the full contact father kiss with no room for ambiguity.

And that’s why Jokic would never give a thought to leave Denver for Dallas or anywhere else. Malone is an American father figure to him. He wants to be comfortable with the people around him, and Malone knows how to make that happen. As long as Jokic enjoys his coach, his coach will stay.

This is my problem with advanced stats tho, because IMO Embiid is pretty clearly a more impactful defender. One on one and help. But Jokic is being coached by a guy obsessed with Munders. Saying Embiid is a better defender is not saying Embiid should win MVP tho Steals, deflections, charges taken, contested shots, and fouls aren't even advanced stats. They're basic ones. Embiid is stronger and faster than Jokic, he can jump higher, and he can block shots better. Jokic has faster hands, is way more durable, he has way better court vision, he has better communication, and most importantly a way higher basketball IQ. Jokic impacts the entire team defense on a level Embiid cannot. Embiid is simply a better rim protector. Jokic is better at literally every other aspect of defense. I don't buy it. Homerism at its finest Probably Jokic himself wish he could defend like Embiid

Or maybe you're just buying into Embiid's reputation and his defense is vastly overrated, while Jokic's is underrated. Neither of these dudes is Gobert. Not by a long shot.

The media bias against Jokic is because he is white and not marketable. Its getting a bit disgusting now and racist

Kenny Smith cracks me up there.
He thought the adversity of no Simmons or Harden for a lot of the year would push Embiid over the edge?
Right, because it was super easy for Jokic all year without Murray and Porter.

65 of 100 MVP voters casted their 1st place votes for Jokic. Yet, in watching ESPN, NBA TV, or TNT talking heads, one would think Embiid won by a landslide. I would say Jokic got a rather small minority of television talking head votes for MVP.
On another subject, will JB and rock finally relax, now that Jokic has said he’s with Denver for the duration, no matter what? He said so in Serbian….

The media bias against Jokic is because he is white and not marketable. Its getting a bit disgusting now and racist Race always matters. “Racist” can be viewed different ways, but one way is to look at it is as a tool for the powerful to keep power from — or just eliminate in the case of genocide — those of other races. If one looks at it that way, US blacks may have racial bias, but they cannot be “racist” in the same way as white people, at least not in this country. White people have always had the power in this country, and have often used race to keep black people down, and that’s a different thing than black folks rooting for other other black people to succeed. In any event, in the end the vote was not close. Clearly the voters are largely a different group than the voices heard on TV. Jokic won a not very close race, he deserved to win, and Nuggets fans get to celebrate.

He said so in Serbian…. right now Jokic is happy and in his safe space with his horses. he's buzzing with dopamine. his comments after losing to GS were a more accurate reflection of his state of mind. I don't think he will be content spending the rest of his prime dragging a talent-deprived team to the playoffs every season. moreover, I don't think his brothers will let him.

I honestly don't think I've ever been as sure of something as a sports fan that Jokic will stay in Denver. Maybe if we fire TC/Malone eventually than I'll get nervous but even than I don't think Jokic bails. I just don't think it fits his personality to want to be in the media. If he asked for a trade your in the 24/7 news media cycle. It drags out. I think it would be messed up but whoever is the GM at that point is going to use that as leverage and drag the process out. Denver's a smaller market and it fits him perfectly. Even the issues his brothers had .. if he's in a bigger market that's probably a bigger deal. Duncan tried to leave for the Magic but I don't think Jokic even compares to him personality wise. Duncan was a 1st overall pick and had a 4 year career in college. While he didn't enjoy it .. he was far more use to the spotlight. It's night and day. Duncan wasn't hanging out with the assistant coaches and being helped by teammates to be a star.
I think it gets underrated how much development the Nuggets did with Jokic on and off the court and I think Jokic realizes that and has basically said as much over the years. He was like 300 pounds addicted to coca cola sitting with the assistant coaches on the bus. There's absolutely a situation where he could have landed where a team stashes him for a few years vs bringing him over or he winds up with bad teammates/culture and isn't comfortable taking over games. Either way I think he's an All-Star .. but I don't think every team develops him into a back to back MVP and I think he and his camp would be the first one's to admit that.

Interesting that Facu is the only Nugget to comment on Jokic
