Yeah Denver's in a good spot right now. No need to be desperate like some of the other teams out there right now. I do think the only way that changes is if we look lost in the playoffs and or Jokic gets shut down or exposed on defense. Expecting a team this young or inexperienced to win isn't realistic but there's a difference between losing and getting exposed. Nuggets run alot of dribble hands offs, cuts to the basket, and struggle heavily in the P&R. Team's can't afford to tweak there offense/defense and focus everything on 1 team as much in the regular season as they can in the playoffs.
If Jokic gets flustered which we've seen happen and doesn't look like a superstar, and teams shut down all the cuts/hands offs, and just go at Jokic defensively all game and it's successful than all of sudden giving up alot for Davis to roll the dice he stays after 1.5 years looks alot better. Davis covers for Jokic's weaknesses, and it gives Jokic a huge safety blanket on offense. Surrounding pieces are easier to trade for than another 1st option. Right now all our assets outside of Harris have a s**t ton of value but things can change quickly in the NBA.

The Lakers are as shrewd and savvy as five year olds.

I wonder if NOLA just doesn't want to trade him to L.A. Seems like there's alot of bitterness around the NBA with players forcing there way to certain markets. This could really backfire on them. L.A was apparently offering everything. They'll end up holding Davis, everyone will know he wants L.A so they'll lose leverage, and end up taking a deal with half the value before it's too late. Maybe NY will give them whatever pick they tank for so they can try and entice Durant/Kyrie to NY to play with Davis. I'm genuinely curious if NOLA literally wants that large of a package nobody can realistically give them, or there just being petty towards L.A. Who's willing to beat Kuzma, Ball, Ingram, Zubac, Hart, plus taking on shitty salary.

This Davis situation could get interesting. They turned down a massive offer from L.A. Who's beating it? Boston without a guarantee he'll re-sign? Even than there picks aren't as good as they were supposed to be, and Jaylen Brown hasn't progressed like expected. Maybe they'd include Tatum if they could get Davis right now, but in the offseason for a potential 1 year rental? No way Ainge gives up Tatum IMO. I guess NY if they won the 1st overall pick. Send Zion for Davis and hope you can get Kyrie/Durant to join the party. Raptors maybe? ... after all this NOLA will end up getting shafted. Like Rozier, picks, and Marcus Smart.
Kuzma, Ball, Ingram, Hart, Zubac, 2 1st's and taking on a bad contract in Solomon Hill .. that's a gigantic offer. Like a GM being forced into making a trade because LeBron has unreal pull and wants Davis. I almost refuse to believe that was actually on the table.

Maybe behind the scenes someone is promising Demps, "just wait and we'll offer XYZ in the summer."

I think it is mostly that they know what everybody does - move this into the summer, get Boston involved and maybe other teams, see who gets the #1 pick, etc.
The only people who care about this getting down now are the Lakers and Klutch.

I'm not sure if it's confirmed yet but just saw that Davis apparently liked BR's instagrams post of the Lakers final offer. Lakers are his clear favorite, and NOLA had them giving up the farm. IMO NOLA screwed themselves here pretty hard unless it gets done eventually. Lakers offered a comically huge package and was willing to eat shitty contract. I just don't see how that gets beat. NY willing to move the 1st overall pick, or if Boston will include Tatum which apparently according to recent rumors isn't the case. Ainge plays hardball too. There's new lottery odds too isn't there? NY isn't a lock to get Zion even with the worst overall record. 2 playoffs vs 1 playoffs with Davis is a huge deal IMO. If your a team rolling the dice you want that extra time. I'm one of the guys willing to give up quite abit, not everything, for Davis but not in the offseason. Only if we were able to get him now and not later. Puts way too much pressure on 1 season and with injuries just too big of a risk. 2 playoffs gives you a chance to make a run, change his mind, and keep him. I mean look at what Toronto is doing right now and yet Leonard is out here buying houses in socal.

maybe the Pelicans a tiny bit pissed that not only have the Lakers employed underhanded tactics to force a trade of their superstar, they've used the media at EVERY SINGLE step of the these trade talks in an attempt to pressure the Pelicans to trade AD for 30 cents on the dollar. these leaks are extremely one sided and mostly push the Lakers agenda.
Magic and Pelinka make Dolan look like Pat Riley.

So you're suggesting the Lakers will reduce their offer in the summer IYM? That seems unlikely. Are they going to desire AD less then? If they're the only game in town now, why would they put an offer on the table that they wouldn't dare offer in the summer?
Ainge is reportedly willing to roll the dice with or without Kyrie and with or without a commitment. Take Tatum out if it - is Malcontent Ball/Kuzma/Ingram that much better than a package headlined by Brown/Rozier or something? And the Celts have better picks to offer.
It's the quantity > quality part of this that I don't agree with. What if I'm not high on Kuzma or Ingram? Ball is already a malcontent and he hasn't even been traded yet, so I see no value in adding him. Are the picks going to be good when they have AD? Probably not.
NO hasn't screwed themselves. They played this like they should. LA will be just as desperate to appease LeBron in July. Maybe moreso if they miss the playoffs.

They played this like they should. LA will be just as desperate to appease LeBron in July. Maybe moreso if they miss the playoffs. I mean it could happen. They just pulled out now apparently. Maybe it's a last ditch effort to try to get NOLA to come to there senses, but yeah I could see them decreasing there offer if they can't get him for this years playoffs. I think a huge reason why the offer is so big is because of LeBron's age. Every year is a huge deal. L.A needs him now, not next year. I hate the Lakers as much as anybody but Ingram is still really young, Kuzma is a good player. I doubt it happens but there is a chance, as small as it might be, that the Lakers sneak in and upset somebody and one of there young guys has a big series and gets took off the table. If I'm NOLA I don't leave it up to chance when it's in my hands right now. Assets are assets. They can be flipped. Ball can be flipped. If NOLA takes this deal, moves Jrue and other veterans, it's not a bad way to start a rebuild. It's already coming out that apparently Boston won't move Tatum. I think 2 playoffs vs 1 playoffs is a bigger deal IMO. I think teams will be less stupid when it's 1 season away from losing him, rather than almost 1.5 years. Maybe screwed themselves is a bit much, NY could get lucky and get the 1st overall pick and get desperate. IMO Davis doesn't want Boston at all. He didn't include them on there list. Irving could bail. Ainge isn't a stupid GM. He won't get desperate like L.A or NY will. Ridding yourself of shitty salary, getting a collection of assets, draft picks etc. is best case in this situation IMO.

Magic and Pelinka make Dolan look like Pat Riley. Oh I think 100% NOLA is being petty. I think if another team offers that deal, they take it and run. Davis/LeBron/Paul have colluded like crazy and everyone basically knows it at this point. Which is why I think NOLA is dumb for not taking this deal. There not fooling anyone. L.A is giving up everything because there desperate to win right now and appease LeGM. Like as a Nuggets fan I want zero part in Davis come the offseason. All it takes it 1 injury, 1 bad matchup in the playoffs and poof he's gone. We get him now and we can get our feet wet this year in the playoffs and see what we can do in the offseason to improve the team because a team with Jokic/Davis gives you options in terms of veterans looking to win a ring. It gives you extra time to mesh with the coach, players, management. To get to know Denver. 30+ games, a playoffs, a full offseason, rather than just one regular season/postseason where half of the of the time he's probably already thinking about where he's headed to next. Longer term = a s**t more value IMO. Even if it's .5 years. 1 year is just a straight up expiring superstar.

I think NOLA is playing this pretty smart right now. Let LA leak their offer. Let it be publicly known it's not good enough. See what happens. If you get nothing better by Thursday morning, make a counteroffer that includes more picks or at least a couple pick swaps, and then take it. But if you do get an offer you like more, take it.

Imagine the position the lakers would be in if you remove their biggest advantage- geography. No lebron. No AD. A bunch of 2nd pick busts and maybe 30-35 wins this year. And I think they traded their first? But the lure of Los angles and the lifestyle that comes with it is hiding the team and front office incompetence Hasn't been hidden too well: The Lakers are on track to be in the lotto for the 6th year in a row. Maybe they'll sneak into a late playoff spot but maybe not. Lebron's ability to carry a bad team is approaching the end. The national media won't admit this, but it's still true.

Who's willing to beat Kuzma, Ball, Ingram, Zubac, Hart, plus taking on shitty salary. A bunch of teams could beat that offer if they are willing to ignore the free agency issue. That offer includes exactly zero players who are borderline allstars or young players who project to be allstars or close to it. The Kings, for example, have a strong group of young players -- Fox, Hield, Bagley, Bogdanovic, Giles, Cauley-Stein -- along with the expiring contracts of Randolph, Shumpert and Koufos. They could definitely make a more attractive offer than the Lakers IMO.

They could definitely make a more attractive offer than the Lakers IMO. I mean Ingram is what like 21 years old averaging 17/5/3 on 54% TS. He has great length and size. No 3 point shot yet. If a team projects Ingram developing a 3 point shot than he absolutely has All-Star potential. People said the same thing about Russell. I hate the Lakers too, but let's not pretend that's not good. Kyle Kuzma is 23 years old averaging 19/6/2 on 56% TS. Some of there advanced numbers aren't great. They have there flaws. Gary Harris is 24 averaging 15/3/3 on 53% TS dealing with injury issues after 2 really good years. Lmao the Kings? You think the Kings are giving up s**t for Davis? Yeah teams can beat the L.A offer. We can. Who's going too? That's the question. PHX could beat L.A's offer. Philly could. Denver could. I mean Washington could give them Bradley Beal if they wanted too.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I thought Boston wasn’t even allowed to trade for Davis even if both sides agree?
