if we had the Lakers under performing, overrated "young core" after 5 years of rebuilding, we would be considered the most depressing, hopeless team in the NBA and talk about the Nuggets wouldn't extend far beyond "wait, there's a basketball team in Denver? LOL".
but the Pelicans are not only expected to eat this ungarnished s**t sandwich but face the further indignity of this Kendall Marshall clone (with Julyan Stone level defense!) refusing to suit up with them.
being a small market sucks. /rock

It really is a joke. The Lakers have done pretty much everything wrong for the past 5+ years. They've missed on draft picks. Traded probably their best draft pick too early (Russell). They've had 2 top 2 picks and missed on both. And simply because they're a big market they're going to land Lebron and probably AD.
It's definitely a joke that Rich Paul can be an agent when his best friend is on a different team. Conflict of interest.

It's the reason Boston deserves him more than LA. Boston has made really shrewd decisions. They're a douche bag franchise because of how arrogant they are (and their fans), but the Lakers have run their operation like dog s**t for the better part of two decades. They just happen to be the prestige franchise in the most desireable market for players.

Now we can enjoy the fact that either Utah or Portland will lose tonight.

It's likely the Pels hold Davis until the summer. That said, Connelly will most assuredly make a call. Remember, just before coming to the Nuggets he was the Pelicans assistant GM to current Pelicans GM Del Demps. They worked with each other for 3 years. IMO, for a Davis trade the only untouchable player is Jokic. That's it. Everything else is negotiable. A Jokic/Davis frontcourt pairing is too incredible not to pursue. Even before this Davis news, I believe it is likely the Nuggets FO had begun a serious evaluation of what they need to do with the PF position going forward, as I think it is becoming increasingly clear we are watching the middle (we are well past the beginning) of the end with Millsap. He has scored less than 5 points in 3 of the last 4 games and has only 6 made threes in the 15 games in January. 34 is very close to the expiration date for a player like Millsap and Plumlee has continued to get time at PF even though Millsap returned from his toe injury 15 games ago. With Millsap's expiring deal to offer, the team is in position to discuss even bigger deals for Davis and other players. ESPN won't want to mention the Nuggets, but they are in as strong a position as any team in terms of what they can offer. Maybe stronger if Porter had played some this season. Since the Kings pick is not turning into the high lotto pick everyone thought, the Celtics' tradeable "assets" don't blow anyone away (as the media has insisted), especially if they are not willing to trade their only really good young player, Jayson Tatum. With all due respect: no, no, no, no, no. First off - more than agreed that Millsap is done. The guy can’t get rebounds over small forwards at this point. It’s sad. For those watching, he cannot jump. Millsap is sliding fast and he’s going to be invisible in the playoffs. I hope Lyles, Juancho or Plumlee can step it up. Second - regarding Davis - Yes, Jokic and Davis would be incredible together. Too bad DAVIS is injured more often than Gallainari. And take it from me - DAVIS won’t stay here long term. I understand the need to consolidate assets - but do it for someone who isn’t injured and is bound to stay. Granted, this all depends on the asking price? Millsap, Garris, Juancho and 2 firsts - I could live with that. Really don’t know if I want to see any other player sent for an injured rental.

I think its nuts to risk this chemistry this young team have for an experiment and everything new and unknown that A. Davis trade brings. You just dont do radical things when everything works so well.

I can't see the players potentially staying not loving the idea of playing with Jokic and AD tho.
But 3 guys; Barton, Monte and Juancho are too important for team chemistry

Lyles will be gone at the trade deadline to make room for Vando. Just too good of a fit as long as he can play passable 2nd unit D at the 4 and Milsap remains healthy.

Demps is refusing to deal with the Lakers right now and wont return their phone calls, but is talking to everyone else. Their whole front office seems hell bent on keeping him away from LA, with the only way he can get there is by free agency in 2020. And if AD's team of people sticks with the notion that he only wants to be in LA and will sign there in 2020 regardless, it's going to limit the return that other teams are going to be willing to give up. To go along with that, if you consider the relationship that TC has with New Orleans and that FO, it seems possible at this point that we could receive a decent discount in a trade for him simply because of how spiteful they seem to want to be. Though I do think they'll likely just keep him for the rest of the season and make him sit, because the offers will be just as good in the offseason and if anything it probably helps them by doing so.
I don't really care one way or another, but it'd be awesome to watch Lebron and the Lakers get that sort of treatment going forward.

I would love to nab Porz on the cheap. I don’t see teams offering much. Does 1 first rounder and Juancho get it done?

I doubt he'd be super cheap. Hes still going to be a RFA this summer, so unless he is going to sign the QO wherever he goes, the team trading for him has some control there. He is coming off an injury, so there is a little more risk, but it'll probably still take a high quality prospect and a 1st or two to get it done.

Basically no incentive for the Knicks to trade him. He's a RFA... so, like, he can sign somewhere else. Or he can accept a QO coming off that injury (no way he will).
NYK will only trade him to facilitate the star acquisitions they're looking to achieve. They sure as s**t won't take a low ball offer. They have all the power here.

They basically used Porzingis to shed a ton of salary.
Beyond bizarre. If they don't get these guys like KD/Kyrie/whoever, this is an all-time WTF move.

Great, more competition in the West. Does Dolan really think a marquee FA is signing there next year, especially now that Porzingis is gone? What a buffoon.

or Silver consulted a psychic and informed Dolan that it's highly likely Zion will be a Knick.

Yeah. If they dont land a top 2 pick and sign at least one legit star in free agency, this will go down pretty bad in history.
