I've sad a lot about this subject on other topics, but since this seems to be the proper one to do so, I'll add a few new jabs at it.
My moto is to not say to someone online what I would not say to his face.
It's been mentioned that some of those who are the target of such complaints have a lot to contribute basketball wise, and I agree with that - but do they NEED (or have) to act like jerks in order to do so? I don't think they do, and I bet most, if not all of them, don't actually say that kind stuff when they are talking to someone face to face, so it can't be that hard to do online what they do in real life.
It's true that sports talk elicit a lot of emotion, like it's also been mentioned. But one thing is to yell at the TV or a team/player on the court when you're there, and another thing is to harass someone cheering with or against your team at the stands. I doubt anyone here does that, or at least, if he does, he can't expect the other person to not take notice and even confront them back.
If we allow people to harass others, no matter how little, to be fair we will have to allow their targets to harass them back, and the conversation will almost always go downhill fast from there. So why let it happen? Just so some people can enjoy their "right" to act like "bad asses" on the internet, because that's likely the only place where they have the courage to remain insulting people*? Does anyone here really think that's a relevant "right" to defend?
Remember this is not about free speech or censorship, as some people have argued, since the actual basketball related or even off-topic thoughts would never be repressed.
*: it's been said I was a "pansie" for complaining about the insults, but couldn't also be said that people who like to act all "tough" on the internet are the real pansies?

I don't mind the off-topic stuff, it's usualy pretty funny. I also think the charm about NT is pac's, 2d2r's and phonzies bitterness and reading their posts make the off season less boaring. Their attitude is funny when they talk s**t about random posts and not other posters IMO (I liked it when Pac was bashing me, but i'm not sure everyone feel the same way as i do). And you should have stopped then cody asked you to.

I disagree that "it's the offseason" isn't a valid point, it's completely relevant. August is the slowest month of the year for basketball, and sports in general. There is absolutely nothing to talk about right now. NT has always been notorious for going a little off topic on a regular basis, which I don't think is such a bad thing anyway....but during the offseason, it should be a non issue. The front page of this section has threads 3 weeks old......during the season it's usually two days at most. It's not like these little side discussions are clogging up the board right now. There are like 30-50 new posts total each day(if that), it's not that hard to skim through the crap, if someone doesn't want to read it.
And on top of that, the only people who are even here posting during this time of the summer are the regulars anyway. Also, the majority of the threads that go off topic are as a result of a basketball related issue anyway....such as Kim Kardashian's ass. Blame that on potential future Nugget Rashad McCants' terrible taste in women, and retarded idea to point out his inadequacies in the bed room via Twitter.
As far as the douches on this board go....I am impartial. There are douchebag people everywhere you go. Work, store, school, neighbors, family, etc etc. That's life for you. Sooner or later you're going to have to learn how to deal with them in your own way, because expecting someone else(mods, in this case) to take care of it for you is unrealistic in life.

everything u just said is true. maybe u wouldnt insult a stranger the same way u would here. but were not really strangers either. and if a 13 year old tried to join a conversation with my friends and at the same time brought nothing of interest and is completely annoying, somebody is gonna say something to the kid. and in real life that kid would NOT be back...

I don't care much about off-topic stuff either. Generally, when a topic veers for too long from the main topic it's because people are interested on the new subject and the original one has exhausted itself - if not, the conversation will get back on track eventually.
What I have learned from my experience here is that the people who do complain about off-topic stuff usually just do it in regard to topics they don't like to talk about anyway (like the times we ended up discussing religion, for example) - I have never seen someone really complain about a topic going astray because posters decided to talk about girls instead, for example.

Just use grocery bags for awhile. Or carry the kid around in a Home Depot bucket for the first few months. Once you get past the infant stage diapers aren't nearly as much of a burden.
I agree with pac....can't trade the Nuggets for the comfort of your child.

Sooner or later you're going to have to learn how to deal with them in your own way, because expecting someone else(mods, in this case) to take care of it for you is unrealistic in life. That's not true here however, CLN. Because if we DO try to take care of it ourselves we get our asses spanked by the mods as much as the offenders if not more. So, if you think people should take care of the subjects themselves any way they think they need to, then you can't really complain when they do, right? And what are mods for anyway, if to moderate such things, exactly because people tend to think internet boards are no man's land? In real life you have laws and cops to ensure they're followed. In real life, when someone robs your place, do you go hunt them yourself, or do you call the police?

So it will be about next year.

Being called a moron isn't the same as getting your stuff jacked. Instead of frantically waving your hands and crying and quoting the comment in question over and over saying WHEN WILL A MOD TAKE CARE OF THIS? isn't as effective as saying something clever in return and/or PMing mods. And since this is a sports venue, I can speak for myself when I say I treat people the same way at sporting events. Though there it's because they're rooting for the other team, here it's because they're being a-holes.

Oh and never ever ever ever ever ever ever let anyone convince you that cloth diapers work as well. I was all for the eco friendly option until I cleaned crap off my self and my daughter for the 50th time.

Complaining about quality of posts turns into a discussion on diapers.
