Yes there have been a lot of trolls and stupid posters but you need to address your mod ranks first rock. Cam barely posts about basketball. He is one of the many old timers for whom NT is a social hangout rather than a place to talk about the Nuggets. There is nothing wrong with having him lead the hangout section, but he is the wrong person to be judging who should and shouldn't be talking about basketball. Maybe rock should just ban me. I apologize that I can't come up with constructive posts like these: Damn, I was hoping that this thread would be his announcement that he was leaving NT forever. lets not forget the jazz or the spurs or lakers or any other top 9 team. i dont think anyone is forgetting any of them. its still so wide open. you can still go from lotto to homecourt (and vice versa) in a week. Hey rock, instead of replying to him, how about removing ******* from his display name I'm leading this discussion. I'm glad you took the time to take a shot at myself and the mods, who aren't the problem. The problem is the system. I haven't posted much in the past few months, and the place has gotten worse. Feel free to look at my last few hundred posts and see how many threads I have derailed. And honestly, I don't need to lead discussion as a moderator. 90% of the threads are fine. Its the newblets that are causing problems and forcing people to leave.

On the contrary to cpaw, I view this place exactly as a 'hangout.' I look at it like a bar setting, where I can go watch and talk about the Nuggets with some buddies(since the majority of my friends aren't big basketball or Nugget fans. And the ones who are don't know s**t anyway). Sometimes the discussion sways away from basketball a little bit, other times things get a little heated, and a lot of times people clown on other people....but to me, who cares? That's what this place is for in my mind and I have nothing wrong with that. What I do have a problem with is, like in a bar, the guys who come in just looking to start s**t with people and be complete douchebags.

while i like the idea of 'hanging out' at nuggets talk to talk with fellow nuggets fans, i will expect the number of offtopic side conversations within the nugget-related threads to go down. many people do not want to read that stuff and it gets out of hand...can go on for pages.
that stuff is going to need to remain in hangout, which will be the responsibility of myself, fellow mods and all posters. hopefully these new changes will help with that.
keep nuggets talk for nuggets topics and hangout for the rest.

Thanks Cam that cracked me up.
I think a couple more moderators and some basic restrictions would be in order. As Cam said they cant be everywhere but if this board had a few more people that are trust worthy when discussions get hijacked they could at least lock it or move it to hangout. It's annoying to see new posters spout off 100 stupid posts before anything is done about them.

removed offseason and draft talk sections - they arent used as much but we can just keep all the threads in nuggets talk.

NT checklist: - all new posters are limited to all boards except nuggets talk and nba talk
- they must prove their worth in the other forums before being allowed into the main two forums either by quality of posts or by a minimum number of posts (10 or 25?)
- eliminate offseason/draft talk - merge all those threads/posts into the main nuggets talk forum check
- create a 'bench talk' forum for everyone to use
- new mods to run it
- ignore feature check
- report to admin
- add a staff/mod only section
- other?

Looks good so far. Definitely makes the board look much cleaner, without so many sections that never get used.

I can mod Bench talk and work my way up to the Nuggets forum.

removed offseason and draft talk sections - they arent used as much but we can just keep all the threads in nuggets talk. I'd still like a Nuggets offseason section for FA and the draft. I know more sections isn't as streamlined but it's easier to find threads and it protects some from getting wiped off the face of the planet.

I could see the need for an offseason and/or draft talk section, if we happened to be a shitty team that was going to have a high pick, and therefore more people would be inclined to actually track potential draft picks year round. But we aren't, we're actually much closer to the exact opposite....we never do anything with the draft.
Or on a similar note, if we were going to have a ton of cap space and people were constantly wanting to discuss potential free agent signings and other things that wouldn't happen until the summer, all year long. For now though, we're not in that position, so I see the general 'Nuggets talk' section as being more than adequate. At most you could just create a stickied thread in the NT section for all draft/offseason talk and what not, but even then I doubt people would even use it(which is another beef I had with the other forums...even if someone wanted to discuss a topic that would fit under that criteria, they still would never post it in the right section. Or maybe some would, but then others would post a similar topic in the NT section....and then you'd have the same discussion going on in two or more separate places).
There really isn't that much traffic on this board, even now, to warrant so many separate sections to discuss different aspects of Nuggets basketball. One is good enough IMO.

this is my first post outside of Nuggets/NBA talk, and if I found out when I signed up there was some g** ass stipulation where I wasn't allowed to post in those two places until I "proved myself", I wouldn't have bothered with this forum in the first place. just my 2 cents

It's getting pretty bad with the likes of descriptor. Banned again as of yesterday as his latest screen of 'masterbator'. This troll has a serious history. There are many that have been around here for awhile having to deal with the likes of say 'stuttta' but you wouldn't know anything about that dude. rock's implementation isn't that hardcore anyway. 25 worthy posts in the Bench Talk thread and you're good as long as you aren't a tool.

Great ideas. Lots of new users here who post nothing but junk.
Also, how about giving some of us current mods the ability to temporary ban users like other boards? As long as there are banning guidelines and you are informed of why and when this takes place, we could probably get rid of trolls a lot faster. Especially, since you're not on here as much lately.

I still want to be a mod. I'm reabilitated. I haven't hijacked a thread in months.

MOST of the new fans are cool and we dont want to make them feel like they do need to 'prove' themselves. dont want to push the good fans away with annoying rules. however there are many (actually just a few of the same people with 100 accounts) who troll, cause trouble and keep re-registering. thats one thing we want to avoid. but we will also have the option of giving some fans automatic access to all boards.
