I know rock made this place so that Nuggets fans would have a place to talk Nuggets, but our borders have been overrun by people of questionable taste in Nuggets. They make bad threads. They don't know basketball. They become combative. rock bans people only for them to circumvent IP bans with proxies. I don't recognize half of the posters anymore. Close the borders. Re-energize, refocus, train some of the newbs, educate them, make them stronger. Make them use original avatars. Maybe we can have a newb testing-ground. Special forum so they can prove themselves.

Do it. I've always loved the idea of a minor league system, just as long as I don't get sent down. It should be like the D-League, two years of experience and you're safe.

Yeah the board has gone downhill badly the last six months I cant stand to be on here for long anymore. For every guy that actually discusses there are 10 idiots with nothing real to say. I dont mind the people I disagree with often (like scooter) because they are at least bringing some ideas and thought behind their ideas. But it's a pain to sift through the garbage to read through those ideas.

I heard a rumour that 2009/10 would see the birth of a new Nuggets forum

An Initiation forum would be great.

Without the bad threads, we wouldn't know Durant was coming for Melo! But yeah, I think I do have to agree. Newbs need training. When I first got here, I didn't try to rock the boat, think I ever asked if I could post. That's good newb behavior. Of course that wore off, and now I don't mind rocking the boat, especially with pac (yes h**o ).

You just show you won't ruin the main board. Needs mods to screen because rock goes MIA 97% of the time though.

i can restrict signups again. i do agree that there a lot of poor quality threads/posts being made by newbies and i hate when they over ride the IP ban.
should i completely restrict them? have all applicants go through me like in the past? have people post as guests first to apply? other suggestions?

I've put my name on the table before.
I agree with the Rookie forum for newbs. Keep the main forums "Nuggets Talk" and "NBA Talk" open only for vets and the other forums for everyone else.
Merge the Offseason Talk and Draft Talk. Draft Talk is totally useless since we never actually draft anyone.
Create a Bench Talk where the noobs can prove their mettle...
Let me, Lefty, Cam and Deano run the damn thing.

not a bad idea - what makes someone a 'vet' vs a newb?

Can you restrict access to already signed up members or can you do that only to "guests"?

You could make a minimum post count before they can post in the big boy sections. I've seen other boards do that, and it seems like it'd be a solid way to go. If someone is just here to troll, they're not going to waste their time making x number of quality posts, just to go be retarded on the main sections. That way you'd be able to weed out the weak before they go bringing down the quality of the main sections. It'd be pretty easy to tell who is actually looking to be a legit contributing member, and someone who is just here to be a douchebag.

I recon this idea is tops, a D League or Bench Talk board is a brilliant idea. Only con i can see is that someone will have to closely monitor the newb board to see who's worthy and who's not, half the mods already don't have the time to monitor the regular threads. In which case a restriction on who would be able to start new threads and also the re initiation of the ignore button may be an alternate method.
BTW on a side note can we make the poll so you can have multiple choices... I wanted to tick Yes and This is interesting but it only let me choose one!

Just had a thought on my previous point re monitoring the newb board...
Have a rating system (seen it on other boards where you rate each post) that the vets can rate the newb posts and you can only be brought up to the majors if you have an average of 4+ stars (rating out of 5) and over 100 or so posts, that way you eliminate the need to be constantly monitoring every post...

so far this is what the plan would be: - all new posters are limited to all boards except nuggets talk and nba talk
- they must prove their worth in the other forums before being allowed into the main two forums either by quality of posts or by a minimum number of posts (100?)
- eliminate offseason/draft talk - merge all those threads/posts into the main nuggets talk forum
- create a 'bench talk' forum for everyone to use
- new mods to run it
- other ideas?

also want to add: - ignore feature
- report to admin

That sounds good. 100 posts might be a little much, but I think it's fine as a benchmark, as long as the mods running that forum have the ability to upgrade certain members before they reach that number. I don't think it'd take quite that long for newbs to prove whether they'll be quality members or a nuisance.
Will those newbs and other guests still be able to read the main forums, or are you going to restrict all access?
