I DVR'd the game and caught it late, but I was impressed with our team's defense. Kobe may have been 2-10 against Afflalo and 5-7 against everyone else, but the funny thing about it is everybody that guarded him played good defense on him. He got a few good looks because of switches and JR falling asleep like 2 times, but everyone played good defense on him. However I have to give Afflalo his own credit. I've always said if someone gets it through their mind to not jump on Kobe's pumpfakes, they'll do a good job on him. Kobe just couldn't get AA to jump and that made Kobe's job a lot more difficult. That was such a great win. I was most impressed with is Melo. He picked up 3 early fouls, but he seemed determined to not let Artest get the upperhand on him. One of the plays I was most impressed with was the loose ball foul they called for Carmelo. I honestly think that call could've went other way, but Carmelo wasn't going to let Artest out muscle him and Melo showed Artest that he can be just as physical as him if not more. The 2nd half, we saw the MVP Melo that we saw in the first 3 games and even the crowd gave Carmelo his first "MVP" chant. His defense was phenomenal. Not to overrate his impact on the game last night, but while AA defense on Kobe was great, I think Melo's defense won us that game. I swear it was like I was watching Champ Bailey out there. Carmelo was just picking off or deflecting everything, just covering so much ground, and even Mark Jackson singled out the defense Carmelo was playing. I don't care about Melo stats, if he only gets 25 ppg and can play defense like that, I'll be satisfied. The bench was great. I know a lot of people want JR starting, but I'm with Karl and Jackson on this one. Leave JR on the bench and have him get most of his minutes with Lawson. That duo is just unbelievable. They can get to the rim at will, make the 3 point shot, bring energy, and do whatever is needed of them. We must have the most explosive 1-2 punch off the bench in the league. Words can't even describe my reaction to Lawson's dunk on Benga. I found it funny how when Lawson went back to the hole, Benga made it his duty to knock the ball as far as he can This was a great win. You can tell the Nuggets were up for this game as even when we were losing it was just so much energy on our team. While this win was great, we all know that this was without Gasol. His presence makes the Lakers much better than they are right now. But in basketball it doesn't matter who the opponent is, you can only play who the coach put on the floor, and we did a great job against the Lakers squad. 8-2 looks so much better than 7-3, but I can deal with it. With our easy games coming up, I'll be pissed if we lose more than 1 more game this month and we shouldn't lose any. Lol at Melo. I just saw this in one of LA's articles

0 2nd half points for Fisher and Bryant both. The Nuggets should play with this energy all the time.
Hell 0 points for Fisher the whole game.

28 points in the 2nd half for the Lakers was their lowest scoring half in franchise history... Wow.

You'd think tonight proved that AA should be getting all of AC's minutes added on to his current load. Then again, you'd have thought AA had proven over the last few games of the road trip as well. Hopefully Karl is just letting AC down easy, and gradually. Slowly phasing him out of the rotation altogether. I think that was the plan. It has very little to do with playing your best players early, everything to do with keeping the chemistry.

We better play better than we have the last three games. I have seen that lazy streak in most our players over the last four games. I know they played allot of games but championship teams bring it every night. I love the nuggs but I think they lose because they will not be able to just turn it on for the Lakers. I just do not see the crispness in defense that we saw last year. So I pop up my 10 most recent bookmark and see two of these posts by different people about how "the great teams bring it every night". Is this your first season following the NBA? No the great teams dont bring it every night the Lakers last year half assed many of there games, even in the playoffs and won a championship. The Celtics team the season before that was one of the most focused veteran teams of the last ten years and lost games because of lack of focus. Even the dominant Bulls team lost to the lowly nuggets, and it wasn't because of skill or lucky breaks. The fact is that this is a marathon not a sprint. That was a crap road trip with three back to backs in it early in the season trying to work out rotations and bring back JR. It's absolutely ok that this team isn't running at a full sprint right now, teams that start huge generally fade out because you cant maintain that pace over several months. Calm the hell down people. I woudl say that is fine if you are laxing and pulling out wins against inferior teams, but when you are losing those games, you could be hurting yourself in the seedings. The lakers had homecourt throughout the Western conf playoffs, That tells me they were winnign those games they were slacking off in. We can't afford to drop to many of those type of games in the west. Anyway, I am glad I was wrong about the Lakers/Nuggs game.

What a game last night, and Lawson capped it off with his ridiculous slam on that one DJ dude. The Nuggets defense in the 2nd half was great, but the Lakers were also to blame for it as well. I don't care if we won by 5 points or 26, all that matters is they won. Last night was a fun game to watch. I'm glad all those Lakers fans behind their bench got shut up. Well worth staying up past midnight to see the entire game.
Lets keep this momentum rolling now..

What a great win. Beating the s**t out of the Lakers was unexpected, which made that ass-kicking all the more enjoyable.
Soon, people are going to stop saying "Lawson is playing great for a rookie." He is just playing great period.
Just to recap our short season so far:
7-3, with 7 road games, 8 of the 10 were in back-to-backs- including a four games in five nights- which came against the Hawks who are 7-2 and beat the Celtics in their house.
Of the teams that we played, 6 were in the playoffs last year. 7 wins- including games against the Jazz, Lakers, AT Portland, and AT Chicago.
7-3 in that part of your schedule, you take all day. To start the season? Damn impressive.
