I rarely insult other people but I do swear occasionally and I don't really see a huge problem with either one as long as it's not completely excessive.
The one question that I have, and I mention this, mainly because on other moderated message boards it's resulted in massive, massive b*tch fights over this is consistency.
Make your call as far as swearing goes but be consistent about it. In other words if you and the other moderators don't think swearing should be here, then fine but that should go for the moderators as well. I know a while back one moderator (don't remember his name or know if he's even a moderator still), would retailiate when someone attacked him which seemed to me to be as bad if not worse then the initial attack.

yeah i remember that.
i tried going 100% no insult for awhile but that didnt work. had to delete every other post.
but now i let reasonable swearing go - basically as long as the post isnt hurting any posters, isnt excessive, and is somewhat nugget related, ill let it go. but once that post starts insulting people or is just a random collection of insults laced together for no reason, then i delete.
to the board: and remember, if you have problems with a post or poster, please PM me and i can handle it properly. no need to go back and forth and make it worse.

The problem as I see it is that no one really has a problem with a little swearing here and there or even a little sparring in the posts, but where is the line to be drawn? To say that all posts should be "Nuggets related" takes away from one of the best parts of message boards. A no-swearing policy would not last a week on here, and would run a lot of people off the board.
I also think it is impossible for someone to moderate the board effectively without being controlling, arbitrary, and often wrong. It is the nature of the beast. The only really effective solution is for the poster to regulate themselves, which is unlikely, or to set hardline standards (any posting that is insulting, or swearing will be deleted). I am not sure there is a middle ground...

Well, I'm comic relief, and if you fools are comfortable with dull, bleak, mundane, redundant horsecrap, so be it. I bring the flavor.

I agree with the flavor. Swearing shouldnt be too much, but the policy right now is ok.
