I'm sure Jokic stans would love watching Trae wave off Joker and dribble into a contested 3 I don’t want Young. But tbh, Murray does that hero ball s**t a lot too.

The best two players on this team are foreigners. Might start with trading guys like MPJ who’s taking 2K MyCareer shots like bro he is shooting the second he touches the ball, fully contested. Then might get KCP off, give the role to Braun and let Watson grow. Then get a real backup C who is actually allowed to play minutes. I love DJ but we need a guy that can play. If Jokic ever gets injured, this team is FUCKED. It’s already fucked when he gets to the bench for 3 minutes. And it’s been like this for like 4 years straight. Maybe do something about it.

I don’t agree with any of this. The Nuggets’ weakness is depth, not their top 6 guys, who are terrific.

I don’t agree with any of this. The Nuggets’ weakness is depth, not their top 6 guys, who are terrific. I actually disagree with this. While our starting group is good, and has a lot of chemistry, we have started to see an achilles heel that other teams are starting to attack. The issue is that outside of Jokic we have no other creators on this team. I think this is why we are never able to put a bench together, and why Jokic on/off numbers are so crazy. Now I've coached HS basketball for 16 years, and this is just what I see. You may say, what about Murray, but think about it, when does Murray ever break a guy down off the dribble and get to the rim and score. He NEEDS the Jokic ball screen to do that, and even with that he relies on tough shot making in the mid-range. The exact types of shots that don't force a double team. Think about our struggles this postseason. Now I will grant that we were one half away from the WCF, and I also feel like we matched up with the other 3 playoffs teams way better than we do with MIN. BUT, we are starting to see cracks, and over time teams figure other teams out, the fact thata MIN and LAL did alot of the same things to guard us. Specifically the quick double of Jokic. MIN does it beetter then LAL, but it was still a similar strategy. Now maybe this is partially on Malone and our offense becoming to predictable. We don't do much on the backside while JOkic is posting, but teams now just double quick and rotate on the backside. Why has this been so effective, because KCP, MPJ, and AG are hurting them enough. AG isn't respected enough as a shooter, so teams don't close out on him hard, and KCP and MPJ you just closeout super hard and force them to drive. Neither has the ability to get to the rim and score or force another double team. Now in the playoffs Jokic doesn't sit as much, and against the other teams, Jokic match-up advantages would have been significantly higher imo, but this is still an issue. I've been harping on this on and off all season to an extant, and the playoffs have brought it into full view. Let's look at the other teams left. DAL has both Doncic and Kyrie who are great creators, that also means you can stagger them at times to help when the other is off the court. On top of this I'd argue PJ Washington is better attacking closeouts then any of our starters not named Jokic and Murray. Then You have MIN, they have 4 dudes who can score without needing a ball screen. ANT, Towns, Reid, and McDaniels all can score off the bounce OR in the post, some can do both, but they can force double teams from all over. In fact McDaniels was so good the last 2 games, and was a major reason why they won, him Reid and Towns propped up ANT in game 7. On the EC side of things IND has Haliburton, Nesmith, Siakim, Turner, and McConnel (who's a great backup PG btw, and it's because he's a threat at the rim even though he's not a great outside shooter). BOS has Tatum, Brown, White, and Holiday, and if they get Porzingis back him as well. To me this is the #1 issue going forward, and one thata will need to consdier over next couple of years. This does not mean we need to be rash, and we don't want to lose a guy like KCP for nothing, and in fact if we had a secondary creator these guys would be way better in their roles IMO.

The top five didn’t perform at 2023’s level due to injuries and overuse as a direct result of lack of bench depth, though. Chicken and egg issue.

Chicken and egg issue. I think there is truth to that but I also think there is truth to the Nuggets starting 5 not being as good as perceived. No matter how we slice it the Nuggets got a pretty good bracket last year in the playoffs. This years Wolves team was better than any they faced last year. I still think the Top 5 is very good but it's definitely not a unit that is automatically the best starting lineup on the floor in a given series.

Parity in the NBA is what Silver wanted, and parity is what he’s got. Each championship team will be determined by who’s healthiest and who’s freshest. Lot of luck of the draw too. I agree we had an easier path to the Finals last year, and an easier matchup in the Finals with an 8-seed instead of this year’s Boston team. We were very lucky to get one chip. Getting another one or more than one will be exceedingly difficult.

FWIW I don't think any of us mods care if the dude comes back, as long as he doesn't behave badly (including by stanning for Andrew Tate.) I figure if someone who caused problems in the past comes back and doesn't make trouble, mission accomplished.
