Nice to see Pick hit some shots, he'd been in a bit of a slump

It is wild how bad of a shooter Strawther is. And he was 40% in college? You would think he could only improve upon that, especially on the Nuggets, but it's been a rough year. Strawther is still a future NBA role player imo. A potentially valuable one. Just been a tough rookie year. Not uncommon.

He competes on defense and doesn't turn the ball over, I think he'll have a better year next year.

The college 3PT line is easier than the NBA line, but as I wrote about 9 months ago, Straw feasted against Portland and University of Pacific, and shot poorly against ranked teams.

Gary shot well in college, and then came into the NBA his rookie year and had one of the worst shooting seasons the league has ever seen at 30.4% from the field and 20.4% from 3. But then in his next two seasons his percentages jumped up to 46.9/35.4 and then 50.2/42.0. Sometimes it just takes young guys some time to adjust to the NBA game.

it is a bit concerning that Straw fails the "scooter method" - that most good shooters are elite from the FT line and Straw has always hovered around the 70% mark in college and the pros.

seeing Joker kinda coast for a couple games and then get angry and turn it on reminds me of a classic song about a little Nash rambler: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayTJtVzHOLsthe rest of the league: "I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn" Joker: "Hey buddy how can I get this car out ... of ... seeeeecooooond ... gear???"

Bernie "Satan" Bickerstaff the 1st. Who has one career win that belongs to me! As GBG knows.

I don't blame sons for malfeasance committed by the father - lol. And yes - Bernie was SATAN.

I didn't watch the game but based off the box score looks like the bench did not look like g-leaguers, which is a miracle

Well, I was off by 3.2 percentage points. MPJ finished March shooting 46.8% for the month from 3. I had predicted to Ring back in January that he’d shoot 50% from 3 in March. My bad.

Strawther is NOT a bad shooter, he's a streaky shooter. Is everyone forgetting early in the season he was one of the best on the team. Won us a few games. At the time I called him "Bones-like".

Strawther is shooting < 30% from 3. He's a bad shooter. Ridiculously bad if we consider his top trait out of college was his shot making. It's concerning. He's not going to make it in the NBA if he can't hit his shots. He's had a few nights where he's gotten red hot but that makes it even more scary that he's sub 30%.

Thanks for the props. I can’t really remember watching Strawther take FTs so I don’t remember if he has the same funky form and low release he uses for jump shots — if so and it persists he’ll never be better than average on FTs. He has a very quick release on threes and that’s a plus, but if he doesn’t become at least a pretty good % shooter I doubt he becomes a decent NBA player. Right now, I’m thinking that a somewhat taller Landry Shamet might be a reasonable comp but even that is dependent on him improving his shooting to something in the 42/38/75 range. I think Strawther (along with the whole group of Nnaji, Pickett and Tyson) will be trade bait this offseason, although it would be nice if Strawther had hit more shots this season.

I think Strawther will be okay long term. He needs to calm down and step into his shots with intention.
But again, I like his defensive effort and instincts and he doesn't turn the ball over.
Tyson I just can't see ever being a capable NBA defender or rebounder.
I still think Pickett can have a future in the league but I think Gillespie has simply beaten him out for the young PG role on this squad going forward.
Zeke has to go.
