Among the notable points: everything is on the table for changing up the rotation in Game 5. Malone specifically mentioned Reggie Jackson (extra ball handler) and Peyton Watson (defender).

There are 2 Game 5 threads. How in the hell was I supposed to expect that? This news is Game 5 news and there was not a post about Reggie or Peyton in this thread. |

At some point Booker's going to miss the shots he should be missing or he's going to keep it up and add to his legacy and the Nuggets will be victims of that. Like look at a bad shooting game vs these past 2. Booker's going to create X number of good looks no matter what just like Jokic will create X number of good looks for the Nuggets no matter what. It comes down to those broken plays/contested shots/Nuggets not getting back that lead to those extra points. That's what we need to eliminate. That'll take all 5 guys on the floor making the proper rotations. If Booker is going to cash in on like 95% of his good looks? Nothing you can do about that.
I think the idea that in the current era of the NBA that you can just put 1 guy on somebody and lock him up is a myth of years past. You have brutal defenders and than a huge chunk of the NBA that are on a similar level and everything comes down to team defense. Like the Nuggets chose to let Booker beat them and he hit ridiculous shots so they doubled him and dared a guy like Shamet to beat them and he did. I think that's the best path. Dare Booker to hit everything for the first 3 quarters .. if he does than dare the role players to beat you by doubling him. I wouldn't double off the start and I hope Malone doesn't because at some point shots just aren't to drop. Booker has 5 games these playoffs shooting 60% or more. 2 vs us and 3 vs the Clippers. He closed the Clippers out with a 47 point game on 70% shooting. He than followed it up with a 52%/49% games 1/2 vs the Nuggets.
If Booker doesn't slow down atleast a little bit these next few games than were literally losing to a MJ/Kobe/Lebroneque type performance. 2 rounds in he'll be on pace for a legacy defining run. How close these past 2 games were is a almost a positive. Like if Jokic shows up, Murray/MPJ play abit better, and Booker plays at his normal level and drops 32 on 49% the Nuggets will be fine.

In 9 playoff games so far Booker has shot 60% or more 5 times(2 vs Denver, 3 vs LAC), he's shot 70% or more 3 times(2 vs Denver including the 80% game and a 77% game, 1 game vs LAC) and than he has 4 games closer to his normal averages shooting between 47-53%. PHX is 1-3 in those games 2 of which has came against Denver. PHX is 5-0 when Booker's shooting 60% or more in the playoffs.
If Denver can get one game from Booker where he's shooting 47-53% from the field + 1 game with a team effort where everyone shows up offensively(Jokic, MPJ, Murray, Gordon) than they should be good. That's not an unrealistic/absurd ask.
