Go Nuggets? I'm not feeling it. I want the 'W' but the Suns look like a better team (A+ signing of Chris Paul). Same This feels like a blowout all the way. The suns have way more talent than our depleted team Imagine if we were healthy and they didn’t have cp3, jae crowder and cam Payne. put money on suns

Yea imagine it they didn’t have Cam Payne, we’d sweep them with every game being a blowout I was trying to come up with a comparable trio to who we are missing

how I missed game threads being filled with irrational Barton haters hyper-focused on his flaws while ignoring all the good he does on the court.

I'm going to jump out of my seat the first time that Barton misses a shot at the rim in joy simply because the Nuggets will finally have a guard with the ability to even get to the rim. Can't wait to see the Barton/Jokic 2 man game too. The Nuggets will finally be able to make a team work on the defensive end of the floor again.

You’re not being realistic, but that’s no shock. How many weeks/months has Barton been out? And you expect him to be a positive contributor in a hostile playoff environment? Good luck with that one. Glad you’re a stout Barton and Nuggets fan. I’m a Nuggets fan too, but live in the real world. L.

Barton at 50% is still capable of doing things that no other guard on the roster can do.
Even if his stat sheet doesn't look good, he'll still have a positive impact on the offense and on Jokic especially. He's literally the 2nd best player on the team with Murray out lol.

Yea imagine it they didn’t have Cam Payne, we’d sweep them with every game being a blowout I was trying to come up with a comparable trio to who we are missing Murray - Barton - Dozier. Second best player / ballhandler, start / swiss-army-knife / glue guy, and bench defender / hustle guy. We're ending up starting Facu and Rivers, and playing meaningful minutes with Markus Howard. CP3 - Bridges - Craig might be a good comp. Like if they were just missing Craig, yeah, no biggie. But if they were missing CP3 and Bridges and Craig, then they'd be relying in E'Twaun Moore, Abel Nader, and Jalen Smith playing out of position. That would be a much less frightening team.

Disagree on all your assertions. Austin Rivers is a reasonable facsimile of 50%-Barton. In fact, I’d say Rivers is at least 80% of what a fully healthy Barton provides. Just look at the advanced stats. It’s also true that Rivers can drive to the hoop. Barton isn’t the only slasher we have. Barton is not “literally the 2nd best player with Murray out”, lol. Especially not now, since he hasn’t played since April 21st. MPJ is our 2nd best player, and all players who have been getting regular minutes in the 25-30 mpg range are better right now than Barton. Your expectations for Barton right now are flat out insane.

L. not being realistic? the only prediction I made in this thread is Jokic is not letting the Nuggets lose a close game. we'll see very soon what Barton is going to look like, I'm not going to waste keystrokes predicting his current level of play. though I do suspect that the Nuggets holding Barton back until now was mostly a precautionary measure due to their foolishness in hurrying Murray back and he's more healthy than we think. and even a diminished Barton is still valuable to the Nuggets as a guard with size that run the PnR with Joker.

I'll take a fully healthy Will Barton over a fully healthy MPJ in a playoff setting without Jamal Murray any day of the week. MPJ is extremely limited and has been awful defensively in many games. When MPJ learns to create his own shot or consistently get open, I'll move him into the top 3. Until then he's just a nice piece that is easily taken away by a competent defense.
Also Barton isn't really comparable to Rivers at all. Rivers is an isolation guy. Barton is a guy who can do it all. If Rivers was similar to Barton, they'd be having him run PnRs with Jokic considering it's their biggest need on offense right now.

The Nuggets have a guard that can run PnR with Jokic. That's all that needs to be said about Bartons value to the team and why he's more important than literally anyone on the roster right now other than Jokic. Yes, more important than MPJ. We'll see about his health. I expect some rust but just him being able to dribble a basketball makes the Nuggets a lot more dangerous than they were 2 days ago on the offensive end where every single PnR the defense is dropping on the midget guards we have.

My expectations are that Barton can run and dribble a basketball in an NBA game which automatically makes him the best guard on the team and the 2nd most important player to the team without Jamal Murray.

Barton this season: 11.8 PER, .061 WS/48 Rivers with Nuggets in RS: 10.3 PER, .081 WS/48
WS/48 factors in defense. Rivers is > Barton on this stat due to being a better defender.
Ring, you are prone to hyperbole, to say the least. Curb your enthusiasm about Barton in this series, you are setting yourself up to be insanely angry and disappointed.
Barton’s minutes better come from MH and a bit of Facu time. I hope Rivers still plays close to 30 minutes tonight.
