Im tired of people using the word overrated? The term is way to relative to your subjective experience and the people you listen to. Dwight is a beast, best believe. He is not considered a superstar, if you go by popular belief he is under the likes of Melo and Roy in the Nba's pecking order...If you lead your team to the NBA finals (the Turk was amazing 2) and put up 40 and 20 games in the playoffs your f***ing legit.. A lot of people putting Howard ahead of Melo in MVP race. That's overrated. Melo missing a few games pushed him from 3rd to 5th to out of the top 10 on NBA.com race to mvp sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AppPw7AKXAOd6fHiNi8.jKbJPKB4?slug=nba_com-racetomvp.week10-20100108&prov=nba_com&type=lgns

Seriously though....whoever Detroit picked was going to get screwed. That's why good teams should not have top 5 picks. Especially top 5 teams with Larry Brown as their coach.
Had Melo gone to Detroit, he wouldn't be half the player he is today and may be bouncing around the league at the moment. Maybe that's a little extreme, as his talent probably would have won out eventually if he found a good situation. But I mean, anyone who went to Detroit with that pick was going to sit on the bench. Wade would have never gotten minutes over Rip. Melo would have never gotten minutes over Prince, especially with a coach like Brown who would have hated him. Their development would have been halted so much...and by the time they became free agents, they'd probably have become after thoughts in the eyes of most GMs. And at that point, whoever did sign them wouldn't be looking for them to become "the man," so they'd still have an uphill battle trying to improve their games with less shot attempts and opportunity.
Conversely, had Darko come here and be given the 'reins to the franchise' like Melo was, he might have actually become a pretty decent player. I doubt he'd be a superstar, or even an all-star, but still good enough to have a long career in the league, maybe as an Emeka Okafor type.

justin x in aspen: I dont think Nene is doing it this year.Karl said he could be an all star...do you see nuggs getting another big or they wait till kmart contracts over to get bigs? Travis Heath: I agree that Nene has been remarkably average this year. He has yet to establish himself as a dominant threat under the basket. I was hopeful he would do that consistently this season after the way he played in the playoffs last season, but thus far it hasn't happened.
Nugs are trying to get another big. They were very close this week. Close enough, in fact, to notify the coaching staff and hold a meeting. The deal ultimately fell through, but might be revisited at another time. I haven't been able to ascertain who the player was they were after, but I'm told it was a big.
When asked why some folks were in Denver instead of at the D-League Showcase in Idaho I was told it was because there were bigger fish to fry in Denver. When I couldn't get a name of who the player was I asked whether that fish was an "insurance policy" or a "rotational" fish. I was told that Denver was "deep sea fishing."
Translation: Denver was after a difference-maker. Not sure who that player was quite yet, but rest assured the front office is busy trying to make the team better. I was also told that while the deal might be revisited, it's not going to be revisited in a day or two. Sounds more like something that might be revisited this summer.

Hmmmm to get a "big fish" you would have to figure Lawson, JR, Nene or Melo would be involved maybe Martin.

I figure the way Karl dislikes JR it would be him that would be moved first.

And isnt Al Jefferson on the market? probably for the right package. but i thought they were happy with him in minnesota. he's just had a rough start because of the ACL....and virtually everyone who comes off that injury does.

Yahoo - The Dallas Mavericks were apparently ready to send Kris Humphries(notes) and Shawne Williams(notes) to the New Jersey Nets in exchange for Eduardo Najera(notes), but the folks in New Jersey reportedly can't clear up the necessary roster spot, according to Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears.
The word is that the Nets were hoping that Dallas would add some cash into the deal, which would allow them to buy out Williams, but that ain't happening. The Nets are currently pretty cash-strapped (at least until their next owner, the Russian bazillionaire, becomes official).
To make room, the Nets apparently tried to trade former first-round pick Josh Boone(notes) to the Denver Nuggets for Joey Graham(notes) and his non-guaranteed deal but that didn't work out.
It's just not the Nets' year.

My NBA2k10 my-player plays for the Cavs. They're kind of terrible in that game and the Bucks are winning the east. Pretty confusing. Also my Cavs teammates are all pretty awful at defense, but it's no big deal because the game doesn't place a high priority on winning as long as I play well. It doesn't exactly encourage great team basketball.
