I'm sure the Clippers would do that... in the opposite universe.

can we institute a "this trade has to make sense for both teams" rule for this offseason? In the last day I have seen the most retarded trade ideas. Another team is going to have to benefit for a trade to occur people, you arent getting a superstar for kenyon martin, ok?

If an owner is having financial difficulties and is looking at some bad real estate or has some bad debt, and Stan came along and offered to buy it up for 200 million or so, in a completely separate has nothing to do with the NBA deal, wink wink, the owner might consider it. I wonder what Stern would do if someone actually did that.

I'd imagine that there are NBA bylaws preventing such "wink wink" deals. I've never once heard of anything like that happening... which given the other fishiness in the league and the billions of dollars these owners have seems like something one would expect to happen. The fact that there's never even been an anonymous report of something like that happening would lead me to believe that there are EXTREMELY harsh penalties for it.

Let's just throw this out -- neither of these guys is incredibly impressive, and the fact that some of you are debating one vs. the other is an indication of the weakness of this draft. Griffin measured out with a standing reach that would put him at the very bottom of starting NBA PFs. In other words, by NBA standards he's an undersized four like KMart or a guy like Carl Landry. Rubio is a skinny white kid with below average athleticism for the NBA and a lousy outside shot.
They're good young players but we're not talking about future Dwight Howards or Kobe Bryants, not by any stretch. There will no doubt be sleepers in the draft, but it looks very weak and there is no reason for us to get our panties in a knot because we don't have a first round pick.

I agree with scooter on all counts. Rubio is a glorified Jason Williams, except he's not as athletic and can't shoot as well. He's very weak physically. All of the fancy passes are nice, but he won't be able to pull most of them off against NBA defenders who will be bigger, stronger and longer.
