2. try to stop them from scoring
3. try to get a total amount of points greater than their total amount

I would think the logical first step would be to start guarding him period. Why jump from using zero capable defenders on him, straight to doubling? Putting Chris Paul on Chauncey Billups is like trying to cover Tim Duncan with Marcus Camby.
