I think 10 is enough. It's enough to to discourage the spammers, and will require enough posts to ensure that people will be adding to the board.
Mostly, I think that if someone will post 10 pieces of garbage to get through, they'll also post 25 or 50. But, having to post too much could discourage some new posters from joining... especially since there's not currently much content in the Rookie section.

Why?
Well its the closest of being in the middle of 10posts and 50 posts. The reason is like others have said in the other thread there is really no where to post in reasonable threads outside of the main NBA/Nugs talk. A lot of the threads are about just mucking around and thats fine but some people may not be into that so for them to rack up the posts to be required to post in the main areas may take time.
Following on from that say if it was 50 i think i have something like 27 posts. I seem to post quite a bit in Zee's betting thread this is in the NBA talk area so there for i would not be allowed to posts there? and i think that will affect how much overall i enjoy my time here.
10/25 posts may seem be easy but when you have mods which you said you were going to implement track down the somewhat useless posts in the serious threads, it will be a lot tougher to get them and will cause the spammers/trolls to think twice about trying to join.

id go with 25 BUT it should be at 300 before they are allowed to make a new thread (which is the WORST thing with noobs these days).

So now that it has been fixed and you cant post in the Main area NBA Talk/Nugs Talk.
How do you expect people to get 50 posts without spamming the crap out of the other boards? Its pretty much obvious that any thread out of those sections which are now "protected" arent very serious and most are filled with spam. Isnt this what your trying to prevent? i just see its going to be pretty hard for people to get to that level of posts without spamming threads.

Isnt this what your trying to prevent? i just see its going to be pretty hard for people to get to that level of posts without spamming threads. its a concern. maybe i can drop it to 25 and see how it goes. its a fine line between letting the good posters through and preventing the bad ones from getting in. you are right, i do not want people spamming and posting crap just to get through - thats not the point. they need to just talk about nuggets (or goto hangout for other stuff) and eventually they will get through and itll be fine. besides, 25 or 50 posts isnt that bad. you can get there in a week easily (or quicker). remember, the entire point is not to discourage posters from joining - its to keep the trolls/spammers out and recently weve been getting them at one a day. so far i think its working on reducing that a lot. it makes the board a ton better even though the nuggets suck ass right now. |

I agree with pac. It's not so much newbs coming in and making stupid posts that bother me, it's when they start stupid thread after stupid thread that clutters up the board. Or making a new thread for something that is or has already been discussed. I think that's the bigger concerned then not allowing them to post.
I'm sure it'd be pretty easy to eliminate the option to create a new thread per a certain post count(since you were able to do it with the reply button, but not the quick reply). If you could just do that, I personally wouldn't really care about much else.

I think Pac discussed making it 300 posts to make a topic? What happens say if actually a decent poster comes along gains access and actually puts a bit of time and effort into research or creating some sort of graphic chart or such as i have seen posted. They should not be prevented from posting it. SO what i think would have to happen is say have set mods, who those guys can PM or whatever for example: I have researched some nuggets facts of the season and put it all nicely together. If im under the post count to make a thread (300 discussed) i should be able to PM Lefty and either send the entire post or part of it and he should be able to approve and post it on my behalf but another thing with that the person whose "post" it was originally might not get the full credit so that could be a down side. |

Sure, but how many newbs have you actually seen come in and make a new thread that was worth anything? Like I said, usually it's retarded or something that is already being discussed, in which case they could just post it in an existing thread. Part of the problem is that these new guys come in, and whether their thoughts are good or not, a lot of them decide that everything they say is worthy of a new thread. Most of the time, that just isn't the case. There are enough threads out there that they should be able to find one that their post fits with, and simply post it in there.
I was looking through the forums on the Broncos' website recently, and they legitimately have about 10 topics per page discussing the same thing, because no one moderates it. I seriously couldn't even read through it for more then 20 seconds because I didn't even know what topic I wanted to read, because they were all so similar. It's just a pain in the ass when you have the same kind of discussion going on in multiple threads.
The majority of the problems have come from trolls coming in and making stupid threads, stirring stuff up, and then deleting their accounts. If they can't create new threads, they probably wouldn't try as hard and it wouldn't be as much of a problem....and it also wouldn't make the board look as shitty.
I think the majority of the problems could be solved by simply doing that, and then adding a few more mods that are actually active and could clean up the board a little(getting rid of trolls quickly, locking/moving stupid or duplicate threads, etc etc).

Yeah thats the thing either way you wanna look at what ever direction we choose/rock chooses is going to have its pro's and con's. Even if you look now on some of the threads in the Nuggs talk a lot of them could be combined or are not even needed, so thats what your basically getting at which i agree on. |

I voted 25, because it still seems easy to come in and make 10 'useless' posts and then start spreading their trollyness in the Nuggets Section. However I think 50 is too high, cause most people who sign up actually wanna talk about the Nuggets, and that's kinda hard to do in the Rookie Section when most people are in the main section

I would like to add something that I know you dislike and go through at least 10 times per season, and that is posting stuff in the wrong spot. I remember earlier this year you tried to be nice to a guy about something they posted on the Nuggets board when it should have been on the NBA board, and the guy gave you a bunch of s**t for it. |
